I seem to be sleepy all the time and have such a low energy level. Mind you I work full time and have three kids at home, all of whom have to be shuttled to various activites. I've been home for almost a month from a great spring break trip that I had been planning for 8 months, so it could be a post vacation let down. But I admit it....I don't take vitamins, I don't eat complete meals, I don't get exercise.

What do you do to maintain a high energy level (so you don't just veg out on the couch every night after work)? Any secrets (that are legal and don't require a doctor's prescription)?

Look familiar????

Honestly, last year I started just taking a simple multi-vitamin every day. (Wasn't even the expensive one, just the generic AAFES brand.) It made things a ton better!! I had more energy, more productive, more motivated. I think it gives you the nutrients you don't usually get since you work so hard, (And God bless you for doing so,) and don't get normal meals. Anyways, just some advice, since that's what helped me.

Drink plenty of water; I find it helps you keep from getting that slump in the afternoon. Plent of fresh air helps too; now that the windows are open once in a while, it really helps.

i second the drinking water recommendation.

Well I recently Joined Diet Center which is overseen by a nutritionist and dietician and I asked her the same question. She told me three things,

1. Never EVER EVER EVER skip breakfast (I NEVER EVER EVER ate breakfast!)

2. Drink AT LEAST 64 Ounces of Water per day (I drank at least 64 ounces of DIET COKE per day)

3. Take a Multi-Vitamin (which guess what?? I didn't!)

I've only been on the diet a week but have been doing the about 3 things constantly and in one week the difference is literally AMAZING! I have energy, I have no problem excersising for the diet. I feel 100 percent better health wise then I have in ages.

I find I'm more energetic when I keep my weight down. Right now, it's on the up side, and it makes a difference in how sluggish I feel.

Next week, I'm going on a high protein/low carb/low fat diet. I need to drop some pounds for a big party I'm throwing in mid-May anyway.

I find that when my body isn't battling the highs and lows that carbohydrates cause by bringing blood sugar up and down, I have more energy over all.

I don't know if it would be possible for me to drink 64 oz. of water every day...I would feel like I was prepping for a colinoscopy or something...

when you break it down, it's not really that much - only 8 8oz. servings. a lot of bottles of water give you 16oz., so that is 2 servings right there. :) if you drink a tall glass (app. 16 oz each) of water with all three meals, and one with a snack you're good to go.

Lord! Could be my problem...I bet I'm lucky if I drink 24 oz. of fluid a day!

Agree very much on the water thing, and (not following you here, Caity, honest, LOL), but I agree on the bottle thing. I never drank water till I started my Atkins thing back last July. I then started drinking water, buying cases of 28 24 oz bottles for about $7 case (25 cents a bottle). One bottle is 3 8 oz servings. I have about 3 bottles a day and so easy. I amazed myself. I go through about a case a week. And so easy to transport. Now I look like the rest of the world with my water bottle. :teeth:

Cut out junk food. The better my diet, the more energy I have.

I'm not a huge water drinker, but Crystal Light works for me. It doesn't have any sugar or caffiene, so it doesn't have as many negative points as soda or even juice.

I also find 4-6 mini-meals a day better than 3 large meals in terms of genral health/well-being.

I've cut way back on carbs which I know can make a difference. No, not following Atkins. I do take Women's One a Day vitamins. They make a huge difference for me.
