What do you do with your old MagicBands?

I don't think they can be assigned to anyone else, someone else can physically be using them but they can't be reassigned to a different account.

Nope
True but you don't need to reassign them for same day fastpass, just scan them at the machine

I keep them at my desk at work...and when it hits the fan, I look at my bands and remind myself that WDW is not too far off and remember what fun I had at WDW.
What a fantastic idea! This is why I have the Minnie Mouse watch face on my apple watch.

I have ours collected in a shadow box. The background in the box is the "Thanks for Visiting" card we typically get in the mail about a month after our visit. I also put expired AP cards and celebration buttons.

I linked all of ours (we have several due to multiple trips and split stays and APs) and hung them as garland on one of my Disney trees...yes there is more than one :/

I covered a foam wreath with red material that has white polka dots and made a bow with the same material. I put our magic bands on it and it hangs in our living room. once a month I take all the magic bands off and give them a good dusting before putting them back on it.

I believe you can hand them into the front desk or guest services to be recycled! :thumbsup2

Please keep this in mind if you don't think you will want to keep them! There IS a right and wrong way to dispose of technology and batteries, and if Disney is offering an environmentally responsible way to dispose of them you should take that option! Do not throw them out in your regular garbage disposal if at all possible! Usually recycling centers or public city buildings can dispose of any electronics responsibly!

As for me, I plan to keep any MBs i get. (My first red one is somewhere, I've moved around a lot so it's buried in a box I'm sure...) and I plan on getting the purple this time around. I want to keep them as nostalgic memorabilia as I am SERIOUSLY hoping Disney comes up with an alternative solution soon. I think MBs are so wasteful, you cannot resell them to be used by someone else, you can reuse it as long as the battery lasts but I think most are saying it lasts only a couple years. I have written to them and I hope they come up with a long lasting, lifetime usable keepsake type alternative so you never need another one, or hopefully new technology comes around where we don't need anything at all! I anticipate these will become ancient history like the old school stamp passes, etc.

I just can't bring myself to throw any of the old ones away. They are in our "Disney" bag, with the Mickey fan mister bottles, stroller fans, penny press booklet, EPCOT passports, pin lanyards, etc.

I'm putting mine in a shadow box with some special pins and a family picture from our trip. A daily reminder of our favorite vacation spot will greet me every morning. :goodvibes :tink:

I keep all of mine! I've collected every color and next year I think I'll make a garland out of them for our Christmas tree :)

My sister & I took old ones of ours to the front desk to recycle them. They go through the MBs and deactivate the ones that are no longer in use. We had over 20 of them, it was nice that they offered to recycle some of them for us.

Wow, some of y'all have a LOT of MBs if you're able to make a garland. If I had that many, I would make a countdown chain and let our little one remove a band a day. We did that last year with a paper Mickey themed chain (thanks Pinterest!) but I would totally use MBs if I had enough.
