What do you do while kids are at Grand Adventures in Cooking?

DS #2 can't wait to go to this (we call him "little Emeril"-LOL). He will be 5 - DS #1 will be too old (11) to join him (not to mention the fact that he is totally NOT interested in this). I was just wondering what me, DH & DS #1 will do during this time. For those of you whose children have done this, did you just hang around GF? Did you leave and come back? Just wondering how to plan. Thanks :)

I'm also interested in knowing what others do to pass the time. My DD(4 1/2) will be enjoying Grand Adventures in Cooking during our upcoming trip, also. I've told my husband to take my parents (newbies) and my in-laws (went once while Epcot was being built) to AK that day, so we don't all have to hang around for 2 hours and the parents won't waste any parks-time. I think I'll enjoy some quiet time to myself, but I'm open to suggestions as to how to pass the time. I've already decided to pass on any spa treatments, in case she decides she doesn't want to stay (always a possibility ;) ) and I'm not a "lie around by the pool" type of person.

Any ideas?

When my DD was at Alice's Tea party we went around to the Grand Floridian Cafe and had lunch. When she was on the Pirate Cruise we went to look around Wilderness Lodge. A great option with your DS would be to rent water sprites.

When my DN did Alice's Tea Party, she ended up wanting to leave early--it just became overwhelming to her.

So I'm glad that I didn't leave the area or begin a spa treatment.

The first time my DD did the cooking class, my DH and I had breakfast in the Grand Floridian Cafe and took our time for once. The second time she did it, I bought a magazine in the gift shop and just hung out in the lobby and read. It was very peaceful. Last month while she did the Tea Party, I got some take out from the fast food place and ate near the water while just enjoying time by myself. I was given a beeper from the Tea Party just in case but not from either cooking class.

I am getting a pedicure at the GF Spa but my husband and my mother are going parasailing at the Contemporary!! Parasailing is not my thing and I like to stick close in case my DD needs anything. Note: The little chef's pass out their creations to people in the lobby of the GF. Your DS might get a kick out of showing off his skills to his family. (another reason I am sticking near the GF, I want a photo of the kid's in their chef's hats!!)

When my granddaughters did the cooking class, we took a zip around on the monorail, then stopped at Kona Cafe and had breakfast. Tonga Toast !!!!

It gave us just enough time to enjoy breakfast, then make it back to the GF to see all the little chefs come out with their goodies. Can't even begin to tell you how cute they were. Of course, Grandma cried.
