What do *you* do when a code doesn't come out for your trip?

Do you?

  • Keep your plans.

  • Select a less expensive room?

  • Select a less expensive resort?

  • Shorten your trip?

  • Change your travel dates?

  • Move to off-site?

  • Keep your room/resort, but budget less for meals, etc.

  • Other (please explain)

Just curious, do you change your plans, either dates of travel or select a different room/resort? Or do you just "grin and bear it" while paying the higher rate?

I always plan for the worst:hyper: but hope a code comes out. That way I usually have a credit on my reservation when we arrive.

I always book what I'm willing to pay. If I get it cheaper that's great. If not its no big deal since I've already decided to spend that amount.

If I'm going and not using DVC points I will just change the dates, to get a better rate for where I want to stay. But I have so many options that I usually can get a good discount. (General public rate, Florida Resident rate, Florida Passholders rate, or dicounted room through DVC Membership)

If you are counting on a code and you do not get one then change resorts to a Value resort you will not regret it they are a blast to stay at and you will still be enjoying your trip to WDW.

I voted keep my plans, but that's only half the story.

We book somewhere we can afford - this trip we booked one week at the Summerfield Suites and one week at POR.

But, if we can get a good rate, then we upgrade our plans - so we are now spending 2 weeks at POR. In the past I have moved from offsite to AKL for the last few nights of our trip because we got a good rate - but I don't make those plans until the rates our out - initially we make plans based on no discounts - anything 'upgrades' we can do later is a bonus.

We only book exactly what we are ready to pay for. We also hope that some kind of discount comes along though!

I always book within my budget. When the codes come out and I'm able to get them, I either take the savings and stay at the resort I booked, or I upgrade to a deluxe for all or part of my trip.
If I book within my budget and get the codes, I'm thrilled, but if I do not get the codes, I can still go and enjoy myself.

I also book what I'm willing to pay for ... This time I booked with an AAA discount initially. If the codes come out, I try to get a discount or at least upgrade my resort.

I book where I *want* to stay, and plan on discount codes to bring the price down to what I'm willing to pay. Then, if there is no discount for that particular resort, then I'll switch to a different resort that *does* have a discount available.

That's exactly what happened for our upcoming Nov./Dec. trip; I had booked Poly GV concierge, but couldn't get an AP rate there, so now we have a split stay--Dolphin 1 nite (spg points), then FW Cabin 4 nites (AP rate) and 2 rooms at POR for 4 nites (AP rate).

If there are no onsite discounts to be had at all, then it's offsite for me--at a discount, of course (thru skyauction, hotelkingdom, etc.)- I refuse to pay rack rates.

I book what I'm willing to pay and then "upgrade" to a better resort when codes come out.

I picked "other". The only time we weren't able to get AP rates was Spring Break 2002. We really wanted to stay at BC, so we split our stay with 3 nights at BC (did get AAA discount which basically paid for the tax) and 3 nights off site at HIFS.

I am an other. We always go during value season - early December and this year January. I NEVER book until the codes come out and I always have at least 3 and usually more resorts in mind when I book. If there would be no codes for when I go (which has not happened yet), I would probably stay in one of the downtown Disney hotels or a moderate instead of a deluxe.

I would either keep the original plans, or consider staying at a less expensive resort. Either way I will be at WDW and that's all that is important to me!:D

I thought for SURE I would get a code for POFQ and booked about a month ago.....NOPE, so now I am staying at ASMU--OH, well , I am still going!:p ::yes::

i do things a little bit differently this year.

i had originally booked a suite at the AKL for 3 nights i was happy to pay the rack rate (value season, ofcourse! ) but then the 7 for 5 deal came out and i was able to book concierge for a week at only about $200 more for 4 more days! so we went with that!

We always book what we can afford at rack rate and then if a code comes out, we are money ahead.
