Go by a 'Things To Do Today' list?

Use a lot of post-its reminding you what you need to do?

Take small tasks home to do?

Any good organizing tips for our jobs?

Throw it all away and start over! :teeth:

I recently bought a 5 cd collection of Disney songs that I saw advertised on Mousesavers. For the last week I have been listening to that at work. It really brightens my mood!:D

daily to do list, weekly to do list - these start me off ea morn

then prioritize and reprioritize as the day goes by

Circulation desk is my top priority if Im only person scheduled
then other circulation duties
then tech service work (and there has been alot of new books and reports the past 6mos)
after that I forgot but I know the list went on from there - lol

We listen to talk radio or sports/sports talk. It's more interesting than listening to music all day and seems to make the day go faster.

Try to ignore my co-workers political ramblings (which is not always easy)

Organize what I do at what time of day (ie. I do my report first, then my filing, etc.) and stick to it

Keep a very well organized desk

Brighten up my cubicle with photos of friends, family and pets as well as some other things to reflect my personality

Music definately helps. We are technically not allowed to listen to cds at work but my manager doesn't care and the people whose cubicles are around mine don't care.

Read the DIS :teeth: Read other online stuff.

The hardest things about my job are actually the people I work with. Most of them are extreme in their politics and not willing to accept anyone who is not like them. This leads to some problems but I like my actual job so I deal with it for now. I also have a lot of LOUD people around me, and for some reason, they all like to stand behind my cubicle yapping away all day long. It's enough to make even calm little me snippy. Alot of them speak English, but prefer to speak Spanish (I understand some Spanish and let me just say they are not talking about work, from what I have picked up  I've heard them say some pretty nasty things about co workers....) . So that is annoying too because they do this all day long, and loudly, and no one seems to care or get annoyed by it except me and one of my supervisors.

Grrrr, someday I will sit in a different area and I won't need as much to make work easier.

I also train a lot of new employees so when I get bored, I often scour the internet looking for new things to add to my training manuals to make training more fun for them. :D

I take all my papers I have to grade and organize them. Then I draw a bullseye on the floor. I throw the papers at the bullseye and those that land in the center get As, and the farther they are from the center the more the grade goes down. It simplifies my life !

(at least this is what some kids accuse me of!)

I definitely spend time each morning prioritizing the day's tasks. There are the things that MUST get done today - they get put in some kind of order. Then there are the things that should get done very soon, and the gee, I should get around to these eventually tasks.

In the morning I try to knock out the MUST dos. If I need a break, I'll start on one of the SHOULD dos for half an hour or so. In the afternoon, if I hit a real slump, I work on the AROUND TO IT tasks for half an hour - it's almost like a break.

Also, I've stopped trying to be perfect and am settling more for "good enough". I've found that my "good enough" still gets praised as great work so it's not like I'm hurting my employer with this attitude. It just means that I can get more done in the day.

Good luck finding what works for you!
