Hello everyone!

(I posted this in the PTR forum too, oops! :P)

Just a note:
I am back! *hold the applause!* So, I did a horrible job with my first PTR that was supposed to lead to a TR. So, I want to make it up by doing amazingly at this trip.

Any who, I have a question for all of you!

What do you folks do the first day that you arrive at your WDW resort to start vacation? Parks? Disney Springs? Pool?

I just want to get some ideas. I've done different things every trip and want to get some ideas for a future trip/ I'm going to be traveling with someone who has only been there once and only when they were younger! So I'm going to be a guide basically. I have some ideas, but I would love to see what other people do!

Head straight for the parks. Usually the most recommended park for that day. This year it happens to be MK. So DGS's first park experience will be Main St. USA.

It depends on what time we arrive. There are trips where we decide to take our daughter out of school a half day early so we can take a 2:00 or 3:00 (or around there) flight. When we do that, we arrive around 5:30 to 6:30 Florida time, plus however long Magical Express takes (we always fly). When that happens, we have a calm day where we just get some dinner, put her to bed, hang out on the balcony for a while, and enjoy being at WDW.

The times that we arrive closer to noon, we almost always hit the park and it is most often going to be the most recommended park of the day. It seems like we usually end up at DHS either that day or the day right after, though.

Next month, we are going to arrive around 1:00 and are planning on just doing resort time at the Caribbean Beach pool and then getting dinner at Whispering Canyon that night.

Straight to MK!! I try to get an early flight in so I have a lot of the day to enjoy. If I were arriving later in the day and didn't think it was cost effective to use up a park day on a short timeframe, I would go to a happenin' place to get as much non-park Disney fun as possible. Like Disney Springs or Boardwalk at night, or maybe the Poly with the hopes of seeing some fireworks from outside the park. I might also go to Grand Floridian to check out Trader Sam's (new tiki bar). I tend to stay at mods or values so hanging around the pool there is nice but not as fun as checking out a deluxe resort for dinner, drinks or overall atmosphere.

We head to DS, maybe hit the pool, and explore the resort. The one thing we never do is hit the parks. We drive, so we've been in the car for 8-10 hours and the kids are restless. We like to take it easy so we can go to bed early and be rested to get up early for our first day in the parks.

We check in and then have dinner at Chef Mickey's. It always puts us in the mood! After dinner, we take a ride on the monorail. Early to bed so we can be fresh for a park the next day.

Very likely a typo, but wanted to make sure you knew that Trader Sam's is at Polynesian and not Grand Floridian. I'd hate for you to head to GF just for Trader Sam's and find out you were at the wrong resort.

We like to relax and recover from the stress of traveling. (Think of us as Statler and Waldorf, but on a crowded plane...) After checking in we hang out at the resort, eat, swim, get some souvenir shopping done and out of the way. Maybe go to DS depending on the time we've arrived. Go to bed early-ish so we can hit the ground running the next morning.

We go to a park. When we arrived week before last, we checked in, had lunch, went to Blizzard Beach for a couple of hours and then to AK for the Jungle Book show.

A meal at the resort and then off to Disney Springs!

After 8 hours in the car it's usually late and we aren't ready for rides in a park yet.

We've already had a long day by the time get there, about 8 hours between leaving home, getting to the airport, airport time, plane time and getting to our resort on ME. I pack suits for the kids in carry ons and they swim and I chill by the pool. After swimming we grab something for dinner and take it to the room to eat and have a nice quiet early night so we can head to rope drop somewhere the next morning.

This year we arrive in the morning, so we'll have a bite of lunch, some pool/nap time, and then hit up Epcot for EMH and dinner at Spice Road Table!

Magic Kingdom first thing! Even when we say we'll work our way up to it, we just can't help ourselves.
