What are some of the things that you do for yourself? I really don't do much, with 6 kids an my doula job - I don't have much time. However I feel like I'm heading for burnout! Tell me what little things that you do just to pamper YOU. :D

I soak in a hot bubble bath while reading a magazine, I plan trips to WDW, and every Sunday DH and I go to Starbucks.

I just got online and the first post I read was yours. I was just thinking about this very topic because I am going to be getting a facial and a pedicure next Monday when we are off school. I try and get a pedicure every month, but it doesn't always happen. Facials are more like every three months or so.

Besides these little luxuries, I am really too busy to fuss with myself. But as my best friend often tells me, "If you take care of yourself you will be better able to take care of others" and she is right.

DIS, go to physical therapy, listen to music, eat Doritoes and bean dip! :)

I like to go to Borders and have a coffee (now hot chocolate) and read a magazine.

I also like to wander around Target by myself in the early morning after I drop DD off at school.

Curling up with a good book is also nice, especially in the tub. :D

For years i didn't do anything for myself, until I realized I was burnt out and looking old before my time. Last year I began intentionally doing more for myself(with my Dh blessing!) I go about every 6 wks to a very nice salon and have my hair cut & colored. about once every 3 months I haev a pedicure. These things are expensive, but not as expensive as Mom losing her mind and blowing her brains out! :earseek:

Every darn thing I do is for me, ha. I work 9-7 or 9-8 ... but other than that, my time is mine, baby. No husband, no kids, finances are solid, got some hobbies ... Some nights I'll hang out with my roommate or my friends ... others I'll go out with a guy, maybe twice a week or so ... enjoying the third month of my life of singledom ... some nights I'll go down to Hudson River Park and run ... we do a lot of eating out. Last week, for the first time this year, I did my own darn laundry and didn't ship it all out to the cleaners. It was nice, rather soothing actually, and my delicates are much happier. :)

Tonight, Kevan, one of my best work buddies, and Rob, who was in my eating club in college and just bought a condo in Hoboken NJ today, are meeting me at a bar in the East Village - it's "IPod DJ Night." Bring your IPod, tell them your favorite songs, and they'll hook you up to the sound system. You're the DJ! It's fun. Then at 9, we're having 8 girls from college over to my apartment for poker night - we're terrible poker players but great gossipers and snackers. :) I was up early this morning to clean my room for this. :)

I just started back at a gym last week. I have to get up at the crack of dawn to go, except on weekends when I can go a little later. I love it. I forget how much I missed working out. Its a tough start...I had twins last march, was on bedrest for 2 months prior, and too exhausted to w/o much prior to that, so its been over a year since I worked out regularly. Its hard getting up but once I'm there I am so happy. weird not to have a baby or toddler hanging on me for that hour. weird and wonderful!

well this is going to sound crazy, since it is definitely NOT relaxing, but the thing that i do for me is go to (and work hard at) grad school.

My favorite (and cheapest) thing I do for me is take a bubble bath. I play some nice music, maybe light some candles, and just soak in the tub.

About every 2 weeks, I go to Starbucks. I also like to go out to dinner about once a month. These are my middle priced things I do.

I'm too fugal to do expensive things for myself. OK, I'm too cheap. LOL!

i write mostly. Usually very late at night when it's finally quiet. Lately I've been buying a lot of clothes for myself which is something I usually do not do. Bubble baths and reading are top of the list. When the weather is nice I garden. I also like taking pictures and making scrapbooks. One of my friends goes to get her nails done every couple weeks and another goes for a massage every month. I know a couple women who take classes.
:D

Being a widowed mom of two girls, 10 and 14, I don't do anything for myself. Top it off by being a teacher and I am LITERALLY with kids 24/7. The burnout is setting in, but there is only one of me.

DISing is one thing I do just for me.

Planning our trips - it isn't work for me it is fun.

Read a good book, scrapbook, or just browse through our scrapbooks from earlier trips.

DH and I have a great balance in our lives so there is plenty of me time when I want it.

It doesn't take much for me to enjoy myself. Little things like going to Borders or Barnes and Noble ALL BY MYSELF. I can spend hours in there looking through the books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines. Driving ALL BY MYSELF in my little Beetle while enjoying french fries and a Coke. Staying up late at night ALL BY MYSELF and watching a good movie or reading a good novel. I get immense enjoyment out of watching any I Love Lucy episode, (I have all of them and could run my own marathon of Lucy shows if I wanted to!), watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show, (season one has been out on DVD and season two is supposed to be out this year!).

Like I said, little things, but I really enjoy them! And, I'm finding that the older I get, the more things I find to do just for me. When the kids were litttle, life pretty much revolved around them, but now that my youngest is 14, daily life goes by at a slower, more relaxed pace. I love every stage of my kid's lives and every stage of my marriage, but I have to admit, getting older has advantages!

I jog and ab crunch every morning and walk 4-5 days a week too.
I spend too much time on the Dis, but it really relaxes me.
I give myself a manicure about once a week and a pedicure about once a month.
Saturday nights I like to have a couple of drinks.
