What do you do for stress relief?

I can't believe you posted this, I was just signing on to post the same. darn. question. I need to de-stress! I'm so stressed my shoulders are up to my ears and it *hurts.*

well, i've exercised (twice today, actually), had a cup of tea, read a book, and perused the DIS and facebook. i'm still stressed. i've never drank (or is it drunk?) alcohol in my life, but i'm SERIOUSLY considering taking up drinking. anyone have any recommendations? should i start with wine or beer, or go straight to the hard stuff?

Run...everyday...run...alot - and I hated to run. I still don't dig it, but LOVE the way I feel afterwards.

Everything else is NOT PG :rotfl:
Seriously, you do know the BEST stress reliever, right???

During the work day, I go for a walk along a canal not far from my office during lunch. Either that or play pool, watch TV, or nap in the rec room.

At home:
Goof off on DIS
Watch a movie.
Play the Wii.
Read.
Play the guitar or piano
Nap.
And while trying to stay PG: A little  and some :woohoo:

All good ideas, only I have no money for wine, thus part of the stress.

Carbs + comedy. With a chaser of the non-PG stuff, a good night's sleep, and a shower. Everything always looks better after that.

For the really big stuff, sometimes you just need to cry it out, especially if you've been trying to hold it back. Your body's natural reaction to a big ugly cry is some of the most powerful calming out there.

I listen to loud music, or
Take a walk in the woods
Garden
Work in my yard
Brush my horses
Play ball with my dog
Laugh with DH
Spend money :)

My #1 thing: I clean when I'm stressed out. I clean the house like crazy.
 I do this too! It doesn't help me de-stress, it's like default mode for me.

Start with girly drinks. I like Mikes Hard Lemonade.

Exercise
hot shower
good book (usually an old favourite that I know I can get lost in with no effort to follow the plot on my part--because I already know the plot forwards and backwards)

I hope you feel better soon:hug:

Now I clean. In my single days I used to take a tap class. Nothing says stress reliever than slamming the ground.

i like to take long walks by myself

also, like a pp said, a GOOD CRY. sometimes (for me) i just have to let it all out with a long, hard cry. i always feel better afterwords :)

i actually did this a few days ago. i was just walking away when i just burst into tears! i had been thinking about some things that have been really heavy on my heart and i just started bawling like a baby! it was dark out so i wasn't too noticeable, until a car came towards me with their lights on, lol!! well, i felt really good and relaxed when i was done, and walked an extra 2 miles without even thinking about it!

good luck, and i hope things brighten up for you soon!

What works to relax you after/during a very stressful day? Keep it PG, please. :hippie:

My allotment after a horrible day a couple of hours digging and I am much more relaxed. Mind you I could just nick and ambulance and go to a pizza restaurant instead.

Listening to Beethoven's 7th puts my stressful times back into perpsective. :)

Dancing and walking are big helps to me, too.

At the end of a stressful day, I'll take a nice hot bath (with some type of bubbles, bath bomb, etc. if I have some! :thumbsup2 ) and then watch an old favorite movie, tv show, etc. Maybe eat some pudding (still warm) or other comfort food.

For kind of "daily stress maintenance", I find regular excercize works wonders. I feel soooo much less stressed, in general, when I workout consistantly, especially since I've started running.

Thanks everyone. Yesterday was extremely stressful. Today, so far, is looking a bit brighter. :)

Here's to a great day for all of us, today! :drinking1

This! I run too. I find that running is the best form of stress relief for me. I run for at least a hour and then follow it up with a shower. I always feel better.

I may also find myself cleaning if I am stressed. I am not sure if it is stress-relieving, but I always feel better if my surroundings are neat and tidy. If I feel my surroundings are out of control, my stress is only compounded. A book and a glass of wine always sounds so nice, but they do not do a thing for me unless everything around me is in its place.
