What do you do for a Living?

I must ask myself a form of that question 50 times a week. What do I want to do??????????????????? I better make up my mind soon, because I only have a couple basic courses left to take in school. Until last year, I worked at a hospital in Medical Staff Services for 8 years. I got bored and need a career that pays better. So I've been back at school for 10 months. I thought I would like to teach between 2nd and 4th grades. I'm not so sure now. What teachers make for a starting salary, I was basically making in the job I just left. I wish someone could point me in a direction and I'd just go. LOL! ;)

I work at a fabulous nursery/garden center. I work in the Patio department and am in charge of grills and spas. I really love my job....good, fun people and working for a family-owned business is so much nicer than working for a corporation (IMO). I worked for Disney for 8 years, and this is just so much more relaxed (I guess you could say.)

I am an Assistant Controller for one of the divisions of the World's Most Respected Company, and my DW is the Controller for Lexus of Manhattan. Yeah, we're a couple of bean counters. :teeth:

SAHM and PT Consultant for the Fair Housing Council.

I'm a journalist.

I word for our county's intermediate school district (but in the General Ed capacity, not Special Ed) and my husband works in industrial heating and cooling (HVAC).

Full time academic physician in pediatrics. Also, wife and mom of two.

Which explains why I don't have time to post a great deal . . .

I am a toddler teacher at child care center that has centers all through out Massachusetts. I'm on my break right now....I needed to deprogram myself from Toddlerland :jester:

Supermarket here in Miami, and have been working here for 15 years. I have my 15 year luncheon next week, and I am now a DSD Clerk--Direct Store Delivery, I "check in" the vendors that service our store.....such as Pepsi, Coke, Nabisco, Keebler, Budweiser, and various others that cannot be delivered via Publix Trucks!;)

So are DW and I -- we even met in Principles of Accounting class in college! Difference is, I got out of the bean counting business quickly, while DW is still there! :teeth: She's a Senior Audit Manager with a Big 4 (or as they call it -- the Final Four) firm. :)

I work part-time for the Sylvan Learning Centers

I work for Sylvan also. I'm a TCA in the Prometric center and I'm a admin assistant to the owner. I have been there for about a month now but I like it alot. Pembo - what do you do there?

RN - when we retire to Florida(in 15yrs) - I hope to work at WDW as a Main St Greeter :D

I have my dream jobs! After years of riding a desk, I traded it all in for KIDS! When my oldest started school I started working part-time as a fitness instructor. Thru the grapevine, word got out that I love kids and art, so my fitness boss used her connections to get me a job teaching preschool art programs. I love yoga and practiced on and off for years. I was offered teacher training and jumped on it, so now I also teach yoga. I never get bored because I teach so many different classes. My classes are 60-90 minutes. I teach three preschool art classes a week (mornings) while ds is in preschool across the hall from my classroom and dd is in grade 4. I teach yoga three nights a week (twice of Thurs) and a step class on Monday nights after a yoga class (I got that in the wrong order!). I also teach adult and kid workshops in art and travel ~ those are one day classes. I work freelance too. I do speaking engagments on a variety of topics. My freelance is word of month ~ I actually have to turn down work. My priority is my family so I try to keep my work (if you want to call it that, it's so much fun, it's not like work) to a manageable minimum. When ds is in grade 1, I'll work more hours. Right now, 8 classes a week and workshops and freelance is perfect. I take off the summer to be with my kids. I still work my evening classes, just none in the daytime. I also volunteer at both my kids schools. It's an awesome job! I have paid for two Disney trips with my part time money. It's a little sad, but my yoga business soared after 9/11. The good news is, I really think I am helping people relax, at least for a few hours a week. So, that's what I do when I'm not playing with kids or on the computer! LOL! S

Such an enjoyable thread! I and two partners have started our own association management firm. I do event planning, membership marketing, PR, writing, etc. Got mighty tired of working for others. DH is a licensed Professional Land Surveyor.

In our retirement dreams, I work for Disney Guest Services and he drives a Disney Bus!

For a full time paying job, I am an operator in a refinery. (They call us operating engineers  ) Part time and no pay is volunteering in my daughter's school. I'm teaching mini art to a couple of different third grade classrooms this year. I also have a Girl Scout troop. And I'm a full time mom to a nine year old DD. And right now.......nobody is taking care of the domestic engineering! lol :o

I have been staying home with our 2 year old daughter for just over a year now. Prior to that, I worked at Fidelity Investments.
