What do you do during sea days?

On a Sea Day I spend the Day at Sea staring out towards the Sea :)

Movie Time!
Explore the Boat Time!
Anyone Can Cook seminar

Being not that great at trivia, I like to watch it

I also like to eat, boy can I eat :)

Then there is the relaxing drink time
Having no kids myself I sometimes watch the kids have fun, but then quickly realize I need to go have another drink :)

Three words....Rainforest Spa Pass! That is like heaven on earth when it's not too crowded. If you have late seating for dinner go around 4 or 4:30 and you'll have the place to yourself. On the Fantasy you can lie on the heated chaises and watch the world go by. I love sea days more than being in port. My dream cruise is the Panama Canal because of the many sea days you get!

We're doing our first cruise in May and watching a trivia game without actually participating is something I'm interested in doing. Kind of a "get my feet wet" sort of thing before I decide whether I want to play. This is the first time I've seen anyone else mentioning just being a spectator. So I take it this is an acceptable thing?? You can just hang out in the vicinity and watch without feeling awkward? :)

I have no problem sitting off to the sides. I do take paper and a pencil to play along but after two missed answers I usually just start drawing. They don't kick you out for not playing

I just don't like when it's time to check answers cause sometimes they make teams swap sheets and I don't wanna feel dumb with my lack of answers or completely wrong ones

I prefer sea days to port days. Anyway what I do on sea days varies but I will meet up with characters for photos, sit in the Cove Cafe and read, go to the movies, dine at Palos/Remys, meet in the various locations for trivia games or crafts, adult pool time, walk around and explore the ship or just take a nap in my stateroom.

on our first Panama Canal crossing, 14 night cruise and 4 ports. And we wondered if it would be too long and / or to many sea days. The answer for all of was a RESOUNDING NO!!! This was an awesome cruise. Ports are Great, and so are sea days!!

No responsibilities, lots of people wanting to take care of you, plenty to eat and drink. No Cooking, No Cleaning, No Shopping!! oh yea and NO CELL SERVICE ::yes::

Things they have to fill your days...
  • Disney Trivia
  • Disney Music Trivia
  • General Trivia
  • Music genre / era Trivia
  • Racing Babies (until someone makes them stop)
  • Chip it Golf
  • Movies (in the Theater, on the Funnel Vision, in your room)
  • "special cruises" (Alaska / Panama / Baltic) will frequently have guest speakers
  • Family shows by the "Entertainer for Hire" (Jugglers, Magicians, Ventriloquists, etc)
  • Live Music by the piano players, duets, others
  • Towel / Napkin Folding
  • "Animation" / Learn how to draw a character classes
  • Wine Tastings (fee)
  • Mixology Tastings (fee)
  • Meet the Characters - individuals and groups of characters
  • Special Event Cruises: Star Wars or Marvel Days at sea (select sailings)
  • Holiday Cruises: Halloween and Christmas activities
  • DVC sales talks
  • Shopping talks (port and onboard)
  • Shuffleboard and ping pong "tournaments"
  • Spa (all carry fees)
  • Gym (free)

and probably many other things that I have not thought of

There are also things like charades, crafts, and baby races which are fun to watch and/or participate in.

I prefer sea days to port days, we picked the cruise with 3 sea days for that reason. The ship is always hopping on days at sea, there are activities going all day.

We have do the activities like bingo and trivia. Go to the pubs to relax. Go to the pool, the aquaduck. Sometimes we go to the spa, go for a jog, or just relax in the room and watch a movie

Same here. I would gladly take a cruise to nowhere. The ship is the main "destination" we cruise for, the ports are secondary.

Love this post! We have Palo Brunch for one day and I am going to Spa on then other. We plan to go to movies, gym and just some R & R!

I check out the daily newsletter and enjoy the seminars. I brought movies and never touched them.

This is probably a dumb question, but this will be my first time cruising. I will have 3 sea days, so I was curious how much stuff there is to do. I'm not worried about being bored, I'm just trying to gauge if I should bring more than one book or some handheld video games, or if I will be super busy and not need any of those things.

For context, we will be two adults around the age of 30. We will have a verandah.

Could you folks give me an idea of how a sea-day plays out? Like hour by hour or in general?
Sleep in, brunch at Palo, play bingo, Midship Detective Agency (on Dream class), Aqua Duck (on Dream class), hot tub, Rainforest spa, on-demand Disney programming in stateroom (on Dream class), movie in the theater, live theater shows, mini-golf (on Dream), sports simulator (on Dream), other cruise activities listed in the Navigator. We've never had a shortage of things to do on sea days. They've been our favorite days on our cruises so far.

Palo brunch. Princess Meet. Frozen Meet. Grab a lounger on Deck 4 and read. If on Dream Class Midship Detective Agency - all games. Tastings. Possibly a talk if I am interested in the topic (when I was on the Fantasy it was some sports something since the track and field "look at these underprivileged kids making it trope" movie came out that week - BORING!! so I skipped it). Maybe a movie depending on what's playing. RELAX.

I like the Rainforest Room, but it is often super crowded on sea days - especially if it's a little chilly or not #perfectdayatsea weather. As in standing around waiting for a shower - forget trying to get a tile lounger since at least a couple of years ago no one was monitoring any kind of time limit so people were staying for as long as they pleased no matter how many people were waiting. (I cannot remember if DCL has a time limit, but other lines where I have been in similar areas they have stated - and enforced - a 30-minute limit if people are waiting. I know DCL has that on the gym equipment.) So honestly I try to save my pass for port days either when I don't choose to get off or I get back early from an excursion. Avoid the crowds.

We are so overprogrammed in our non-vacation lives, I relish the chance to have a day or days when I'm NOT programmed. It's actually nice to NOT feel like you have to always be doing something. :)

Find a nice deck chair, order a bucket of beer, people watch, ride the aqua duck with kids, cool off in the pool and repeat

Sadly, these are no longer allowed.
Not allowed from U.S. ports. I didn't know that. Still allowed from cruises that don't start in the U.S. Although I know a few folks who take the LA and San Diego cruises and treat them like cruises to nowhere. The don't get off the ship in Mexico. Actually, they are on the Wonder next month.

We get the Shutters All Photo package and along with many of the suggestions previously made we go to many of the photo ops and get pics with the characters.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned a Cabin Crawl.
Get a groups of People together- either Liners, DISers, or a FB group, and organize a bottom to top tour of the cabin categories in your group. We would publish a meeting place and time, a wander the ship looking at cabins! We would also have an end point, which was usually a bar or game room. I got to see the Walt Disney suite this way, and I fell in love with Navigator Verandahs this way as well. Great way to see what other options you have on future cruises without rolling the dice and seeing if it works.
