What do you do if you get picked as an extra at the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show at Disney Studios?

Our friend was chosen and he went onstage with the cast. They gave him a vest and hat and he helped with a skit. He had fun and enjoyed being "special" for the entire day! :yay:

first off.....you have a ball !!!

i got picked my last trip and it was sooooo cool.you are basically a extra in the market place fight scene.you have to run around and pretend to fight with the other extras.

it is a lighlight off all my Disney trips.

Haha. This sounds like so much fun! Do they pick you well ahead of the show and let you know what to do? Do the extras always do the same thing, or are they given different tasks?

I've done this twice (and the backlot one twice). When the show begins, they ask for volunteers. They usually ask if anyone is loud, happy, can scream, etc. Just be REALLY good and ready to go when they do this - and don't have any inhibitions about yelling, screaming or whatever they want. (It helps to be toward the front/center). They'll have you go on stage and do something silly for a few minutes and ask you your name. I had to make a mean face last time and couldn't hold it, 'cause I was just laughing so much inside! You go up to the back of the amphitheater and get a costume and sign a book that says you won't sue Disney, etc. and then wait for a bit while they do the first scene. Then you go onto the stage with the CM in charge of the extras. She sets you up along the scene and tells you what to do when - shop, react, run, etc. There's another little bit that they do with the extras and then you're dismissed before the final scenes to go back to your seat.

before the show started they asked who wanted to be extras....i jumped up waving my arms and shouting like a mad woman !!!
it worked tho cos i got picked.i got the feeling that is what they look for,no point having shrinking violets in a stunt show.
i dont know if they change the tasks because i've only saw the show twice and i cant remember what people did in the first one.

but really ,i you want to be picked be quick and be loud !!

Thank you for all the details! I'm hoping I'll have enough courage to do this because it sounds like so much fun :)

What do they do on the backlot tour?

What do they do on the backlot tour?

Actually, I think the backlot tour was even more fun than IJSS. The first time, we were the first people to arrive at the Backlot tour in the morning. A CM came out of a door just as the ramp goes up. She asked if we wanted to be in the show. My mom and I did it and were the crew on the ship. We had a blast and dh has it on video (ok - that really goes without saying, because dh gets just about everything on video!! :lmao: ). Anyway, they usually choose 3 or 4 people and again, you have to be ready to respond as soon as someone comes to ask. The 2nd time, we were in the lines on the ramp and I was hoping someone would come to get volunteers. I got to be the Captain that time. You get to act out the scene that they put together for the special effects show at the beginning of the tour. There's water involved, but they outfit you in a one-piece suit and boots. These experiences just make your trip that much more special. I hope you get to do something like this. :woohoo:

I was at MGM on my birthday, and got picked as an extra. Before the show started I was put in the VIP seating down front, and got picked as a "screamer". The "director" even had the whole audience wish me a happy birthday.:) It was soooo much fun. I would love to do it again.

This is also a lot of fun. I have done all 3 positions, but I will not do the "comic relief" again (if I can help it) because I feel so rediculous. I love being the mechanic, and getting all the water dumped on you.

I got picked to be an extra on my last trip. It was a blast. I was wearing a Lime green shirt and Lime Green Crocs and I jumped up and down, waved and basically begged to be picked.:cool1:

All the chosen ones were first pulled up on stage and made to do a funny. I had to act surprised and shocked!

Then the whole group of volunteers was sent to the rear of the auditorium to be dressed in costumes. That was really fun!

We were then called back to the stage to be the shoppers in the busy shop scene. They prompted us with directions so we knew exactly what to do and when.

The whole experience was a blast and I would do it again if I ever get my courage up again!

My kids and father got to do the back stage tour. They really did not get picked but since DD's go to college with the CM that was running the show....they got to do it.:dance3:

It was fun to watch them but I really thought they would get a copy of the video they made of the scene but I guess the machine will not make copies.:sad1:
I wish I had pointed our video at the monitors when they showed it because it was so very funny. My dad can not hear and he was nervous and got the pointing up and down confused. The entire audience was in stitches!:rotfl:

I remember that on the backlot tour now! Gosh, I haven't been in so long. I really do hope I get picked to do something because I want to have as much fun as possible on this trip! I'll be on the lookout for the volunteer-seekers on the backlot tour. I may have to get my boyfriend to do the screaming at Indiana Jones, because he is MUCH louder than me. :rotfl2: Thanks again for all the info! It's been really helpful. :)

Thanks for all that! I do think I need to get my boyfriend to do the screaming for Indy, because he is so much louder than me :) haha. I think I would like doing the backlot tour stuff, though! It seems like a lot of fun! :thumbsup2
