What do you call these?

I call them jimmies but I went to the UP (Michigan) with my DH, he grew up there and they call them Twinkles at the Dairy Flow. I was so excited to order twinkles on my cone because I'd never heard of them I was not so excited when I got my cone because they didn't sparkle and twinkle they were just plain old standard Jimmies I guess I expected a flashing bright colorful neon confection but not so much. I'm always just a little bit off when I am in Michigan, or maybe they are . . .

I think it's just us Jerseyites that call them jimmies - everyone else I know calls them sprinkles and they laugh at me for calling them jimmies!! OH WELL!!

Nah, I was born and raised in PA and we called them jimmies too!

Lived in Central NJ till 2004 and I've always called them sprinkles.

Well, Central Jersey is a strange place. Those people actually think the rest of the state thought there always was a Central Jersey.

I'm from California. The multi-colored ones are sprinkles. The chocolate ones are jimmies. Oddly, I was just discussing this subject with friends a couple nights ago...

Yeah, but I know what is being asked but I have no idea what it's called. The only place I know it was done was Long John Silver's and they closed most of those by us. It was my sister's favorite -- all I can think is crumbs they are called. I'm not really sure there is a specific name. I've been trying to think of what she would ask for and haven't come up with anything else. Maybe I should e-mail her and ask, she'll think I'm nuts!

I've always called them "crumbs" too. Raised in PA.

Born and raised in South Jersey. We ALWAYS called them jimmies. I have taught my kids to call them jimmies.

I have lived all over the country and I have never heard them called jimmies anywhere else.

Jimmies are something else entirely.

Sprinkles. Jimmies sounds like sexual toys to me!

I'm from Oregon, and I've heard them called both (jimmies especially when on doughnuts). I personally think of jimmies. To me, sprinkles are the tiny colored sugar sprinkles that you shake on cupcakes, that come in shakers separated into various colors.

I heard Jimmies for the first time when I was in school up in Boston. (White Mountain Creamery anyone?? Oh that chocolate mousse ice cream mmmmmm.
