What do you budget for spending money

How much do you budget for your kids spending money while at the world. I will have a 17 and a 9 year old when we go back next year. It will be a 2.5 year lapse since our last visit at the time when we go back. I am thinking a 100 bucks for each.

We go for 11 days and I usually do 100.00. But this year I think I'm going to do 75.00 each. They both don't really ask for much. Last year they had money left over. My girls don't get a allowance at all but are expected to do chores around the house. I will pay for there Pirates League appointment and things like that. My youngest would like a new princess dress so I will probably just purchase that also. Her sister has 2 and she would really like one of her own.

My girls are 6 and 4 if that helps.

I've given my daughter (and I plan to this time too) an envelope for each day with $20. She can chose to spend it on that day or save it up for something big later. Plus she saves her allowance and her grandparents have a piggy bank (for each of their grandkids for Disney) and she'll probably have a goodly bit there too!

I am curious, how long will your visit be and what would the kid's spend money be used for. For example, my daughter will have her spend money to purchase let's say a t-shirt, but hubby and I would be responsible for purchases like an ice cream.

As for budgeting, my DD, now 14, is responsible for saving and bringing her own spend money. This means any monetary gifts she has received over time has to be divided into savings/wants as well as DD looking for ways to earn extra $$$. I might add that we also offer ways for DD to earn extra cash. We have been doing this for the last 5 years and it works well. She carefully thinks about what she really wants and would use because it comes out of her pocket at Disney ::yes::! All this being said, DD has had 200.00 plus dollars of her own for spending, not that she ever used it all. I'd say $100.00 is more than enough.

I give my granddaughter a Disney gift card with $100 on it. She is free to spend whenever on whatever. I always suggest that she wait until she has been to each park and has had time to find the one item she truly wants before making big purchase. We always have dining plan so she also has snack credits to use as she pleases.

I buy all our food (it's just me and the kid), including drinks and an afternoon snack. I also buy her a refillable mug for the resort! But if she wants lots of snacks or treats, she buys them herself!

I am feeling kind of mean as a parent right now. I have never given my kids any money at all to spend. :scratching I guess I feel like I am being nice taking them to Disney! They do have allowance/birthday money of their own saved and they are allowed to buy whatever they want with that (with the exception of candy...DH's rule). DS has $65 saved so far and DD has $55. The 4 year olds both have $20. This is our first trip to WDW (we have been to DL a few times) so I know they have been saving to get something special because it is a new park with new stuff. However, I don't see the need to give them any more then what they have saved themselves. But that is just my opinion with my kids. I think you should give whatever you feel comfortable giving. :thumbsup2 Hope you have a great trip.

We will be there for 2 weeks and they each have $100 which is money they have saved from birthdays and Christmas. We purchase food and treats but they rarely ask for any treats.

Nope, you're not mean, me too. I pay for the vacation and buy food and treats. They bring their own money for souvenirs. Sometimes, if I'm feeling generous, I might buy them shirts or something, but it's not expected.

We buy food, snacks, and 1 hat/ears for each of them. They get $25 from us to spend on what they want and they can save up their own money from birthdays, ect to spend if they want.

I don't think you are being mean. I think that is enough. My girls do chores but aren't given a allowance. So I'm probably meaner. LOL So we will propably give them each 60-75 for 11 days.

I do exactly the same! We go every year, so dd really doesn't want much and she enjoys the rides MUCH more than shopping. Often times she doesn't even spend her money cuz she is too busy to stop in a store and waste that valuable Disney time!
