What do you bring for those who cook?

Is there a thread around where people have a packing list for those who cook in the kitchen? I would hate to get some food to cook, and then wham, have to go back out for something we forgot.

Like is there aluminum foil, or saran wrap there, or do we need to bring those items? Salt, pepper?

If you do a grocery stop and your room isn't ready, is there a space where a CM can put fridge items to keep them cold?

Thanks,
Connie

You will need to purchase foil or plastic wrap, but there will be paper towels, dish soap, sponge, towels, hot pads, etc available in the unit. If there isn't, you just call down to housekeeping, and they will bring you whatever is missing. You will have a starter pack of coffee and some packets of creamer and sugar, but no salt unless a previous member has left one of those disposable picnic shakers behind.

We have a large ziplock bag of staples that get thrown in the suitcase each trip. It includes plastic wrap, sandwich bags, salt and pepper, cinnamon, sugar, coffee filters, any spices we want etc. Then we buy our grocery items when we get there, and sometimes include some of these staples. When we have food items left over that have not been opened (yes, it happens), we will usually go out and look for someone just arriving and ask if they would like things like unopened small cereal boxes, frozen treats, pasta etc. If we can't find anyone, we leave those things in the villa, and hope the housekeepers can use them.

Hey zumbergc,

Have a look at some of the pcking lists on the Owner's Locker threads here on The DIS and you'll get an idea of what some of the cooks store.

I've never wanted to cook much but always found it annoying that there was no salt and pepper and no scissors.
