I noticed in a photo someone posted that their kids had what looked like a lanyard that held their key....is that something Disney supplies or is this something else I need to add to my "must have" list???

Thanks!

You can purchase a lanyard. They are not supplied by DCL. Kids in the lab are (or were ) issued a name tag holder that also holds the KTTW. A kid really does not need to carry around his/her KTTW. It is needed when they check into the club/lab and when they exit the ship. Beyond that, unless it is an older kid with charging, they are not needed. A kid old enough to check in/out of the lab herself will also need to be able to keep track of KTTW.

When a kid checks into the club/lab, the KTTW is held until they check out. Thus, they do not need to keep track of it while they are in the programming.
DOn't panic if kid loses it....guest services can replace it easily.

Disney doesn't supply them but they are a great thing to have. I trusted a 12 yr old to hold her keycard and she lost it the first day at lunch before we ever got to our room. I had a minor panic attack searching the dining room since she had charging ability, but a quick stop at guest services got it cancelled and reissued. We bought a lanyard with a pouch in Nassau and that was much safer and easier for her.

Our kids don't touch their keys yet. :) In a few years that may be an issue for us though.

everyone told me they had the small plastic pouches at Walmart but not around here in OK...i found some great ones on ebay....i looked up water pouch, waterproof card holder, or maybe just card holder (i bought them last year and cannot remember)...they were clear and just big enought to hold the KTTW card and id (actually it could hold about 4 KTTW cards and id)...they were every inexpensice...i think about 4 for $5 and they had a little red mickey head in one corner...they worked great and i attached them to a $1 lanyard from the dollar store...

:maleficen (where did she come from??)

You can buy them at the port - blue with mikey ears - I think they were 8.00. The kids wore them and me the grandmom loved mine. I would have been locked out of my room too many times to count without it around my neck. :rotfl2:

You can also buy a package of Lanyards and a package of plastic clear holders at office supply shops, Staples or Office Depots. I think I spent $12.00 for our group of nine. The younger kids 6 & 9 always wore their lanyards. My DDs 13 & 16, put their keys in their pants pockets or wore their lanyards.

I held my son's key. He did love to use it to lock the safe though.

DD 12 lost her KTTW the first trip she was allowed to check in and out. A CM found the key and turned it in to Guest Services. 2 cruises latter and she hasn't lost it again. I like to use her DCL lanyard for my car keys. I take the plastic pocket off and put the keys on.

My DS lost his card the last night on our first cruise. He was in the club when it happened at he basketball courts. Someone picked it up and used it once for a soda before we found it missing. He got his little landyard back but it was broken. On our next cruise we invested in the plastic box type holder with the DCL logo on it. I purchased one for everyone. My DK's are great at keeping something like this on their necks just not good at keeping things in their hands. I figured this would be harder to break and lose what is in it. We now use these when we go anywhere. We used them at Myrtle Beach and Disney in the last few months. Plan on using them next weekend in the mountains.

DCL will supply you a lanyard that will hold your KTTW card after the ship has left the port and the stores open and you supply them with $6.00 (I think that's the price)

I used one my self because I felt like I was bending it in my pocket.

If you have a child who is using a lanyard, mark some kind of identification on the lanyard itself. We bought one of the nice ones on board for ds when he was younger. When he checked into the lab (club?), they did not keep the lanyard with it so he kept it next to the computer with him. They did an activity that pulled him away from the computer and of course it was gone when he got back.

I would like to think a cm picked it up instead of another child. Of course without any identification on it, no one would know whose was whose. He lost it almost immediately.

We bought our DS one the dry boxes you can purchase onboard and he used it all the time. It was great since he can take it to the pool and on excursions without worrying about damaging it, plus it was small enough not to make it uncomfortable for him to wear all the time.

I bought DD one of the plastic key holders on board last cruise. After about a day the plastic ripped so far down the seam, I thought for sure she would loose her KTTW so, I got one of the dry boxes (thin one). I found the dry boxes much more sturdy and secure for my rough little one.
