You should still do online check-in to enter your documents, photos, and payment method, which will save you time at the port.
DCL states that you must do online check in at least 3 days prior to your sailing (it's not a "should").

You will need one or the other to complete online check in. If you don't have access to either, does someone else in your sailing party have access? Or a friend?
Our wonderful TA will do all our online checkin and activity bookings and dining reservations!
I still use a flip phone, husband has an iPhone. I can do a lot on my iPad, he does online check in on laptop. I have no ideal how to scan/input documents.
I don't. While I agree the current frenzy at midnight Eastern and inevitable IT glitches isn't ideal, I do like that it's all taken care of ahead of time so you have minimal things to do (and lines to stand in) at port.
Omg, yes! This was my first time checking in under this new system and as a gold, it was absolutely wonderful and fast! Some silvers in the FB group definitely still reported some crashing/documents taking forever to load.
Make sure your passport photo has the full bar code on the bottom. Do not include the signature page, just the photo page.
Keep trying. Mine took three tries once (even though it was the same photo I'd used other times). As others said, make sure there's no glare and you get there whole page. If you can't get approval by the time of your cruise, then yes, you can address it as port (it'll just take a bit more time).
so I took a photo with my phone and this time I took a photo and it showed both pages the page with the barcode and the previous page DCL accepted that one so we’re good to go I really didn’t think they would take that one because both pages were on that photo 
but they just sent me an email and said I’m good to go!
It looks like some people take a photo showing both pages, but try the photo page first. When I uploaded my photo page it auto refilled the info from the passport into the fields, but other than the ease of entering, I believe the purpose is to match your passport photo to a recent photo (they can’t be the same (can’t use a photo used for a previous cruise either).
Just checked on my recent cruise uploads because my kids' passports are so like this. It looks like the passport photos I have for all 5 of us (even the old adult ones) are the full image with both pages and I've never had an issue with any docs being rejected.
