What do grown ups do at Disney :)

Take a backstage tour! Try one of the more expensive dinner shows, that you'd never consider if you were paying for four. Afternoon naps with your sweetie. :)
I agree with Magpie. A backstage tour was a great way to experience the parks in a new way. When we were without kids we did the MK Keys and the Epcot World Showcase behind the scenes tours.

We are going kid free in June for our anniversary. We are doing deluxe dining so we can eat in the places we want without worrying about cost. We are having breakfast in the Castle! My boys have never wanted to do that. We are going to tour the world showcase and actually take our time exploring the countries. We might even wait in long lines for rides! I want ride pictures of my and hubby sitting together.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but with all the changes I can't seem to find anything. So I will ask again.

DH and I are taking our first "kid free" trip for a Star Wars weekend in May. We are only going to Epcot and HS, with a quick stop at DTD on one of the travel days. 3 days total. Any suggestions as to what "adults only" Disney activities, restaurants etc we should get in while we're there? I'm not looking to avoid kids obviously, just thinking things that we couldn't do when the kids are with us that we should take advantage of this trip. This will probably be the only time we go without the kids for a long time, so we want to make the most of it!

Did you mean; What do more experienced kids do at Disney? Have fun.

We like to explore the World Showcase a t more leisurely pace stopping for the performers and the movies and of course adult beverages are involved. We also like to resort hop around the monorail resorts spending time to check the out and we usually have an app and a drink in the lounges as they are more laid back. And though it's Disney movies we also like watching the movies under the stars our favorite place to do so is at the beach club, you can grab some wine and a few snacks and have a beach movie and a picnic. Please note that we do NOT have children so I can't say that I feel there is a great advantage to being able to go at your own pace and take time to see the things kids normally wouldn't be interested in but I can say that is the reason why I remain a WDW passholder and am there almost every weekend

Another vote for JellyRolls!

Take your time exploring the World Showcase!

We don't have kids yet and go all the time and always have a blast just enjoying the setting... In HS, DH and I sometimes grab a drink and relax at the lounge outside of Hollywood Brown Derby and watch people walk by. In Epcot, same thing-- people watch and soak up the atmosphere.

Also, I agree with those who recommended a special dinner. I am most looking forward to my anniversary trip ADRs more than anything else that trip! LOL!

We just returned from a trip together without the kids. We had a wonderful time. At times I did miss the kids when we saw things we knew they would like or want to do but it was worth it to have time together to enjoy everything at our pace. I agree with the special dinner. We did California Grill during Wishes! What a special memory with husband...my wish come true!

When the parks close get a snack and sit together and watch the parks clear out. We are always in a rush to get the kids home to bed for the next day. It is so nice to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Walk slowly around World Showcase. In the morning make rope drop and laugh at how easy it was without the kids in tow! Enjoy each other and making memories together.

The last kids free trip to WDW we took was way back in 1999, but basically we just did whatever we felt like! Height requirements? WHAT height requirements? We had a leisurely seafood dinner on the Empress Lilly (but with all the construction and parking headaches right now I'd recommend staying about from DTD for a while), saw La Nouba, hopped on the monorail and visited each resort just to soak in the atmosphere, watched parades without worrying about hearing that "I can't see!" whine, relaxed by the pool one afternoon, basically just enjoyed ourselves.

Maybe I'll be able to tell you when I grow up.

We spent a lot of time at EPCOT walking around the countries in the evening and night. You can split a wine flight at Germany, France and Italy so you can try different wines without breaking the bank. Jellyrolls is a must on the boardwalk. Just exit EPCOT at the gate between England and the bridge to France. Jellyrolls stays open later than the park so you can walk to one of the resorts and take a bus to DTD to switch to your resort bus or call a taxis from one of the resorts.

We have been twice since our kids are college age now. We are planning another trip this year or next year. We've had great times with the kids but now we can have great times without the kids.

Have Fun.

My family is an older family. My parents are in their 60s, my sister is 30 and I'm 25.

I think the biggest thing to enjoy is that Disney is a judge-free zone. We had family friends, who are similar in age, join us this year. We had matching t-shirts and the brother and sister from the family said "we're gonna look ridiculous."

"No," my sister and I responded, "we won't."

Disney has this atmosphere where everyone's a kid. No one thinks differently of an adult wearing Mickey ears or riding the Goofy coaster a dozen times.

With that said... here's what we enjoy:
- The food - we always head to one or two Signature Restaurants, such as Il Mulino, Cali Grill or our favorite, Narcoossee's.
- Drink - It's fun to drink around the world. We went to a wedding for a family friend and when everyone arrived, the adults drank around the world. Be careful if it's hot out and remember to eat in between. Share drinks if you have to.
- Ride everything - it's fun - I promise
- If you golf, go golfing. The courses are beautiful
- Enjoy the pools. Sure, you could do that anywhere. But, you could also leave the pools and head to the parks. Where else could you do that?!

It's an exciting time at Disney. They're building up Disney Springs and it'll include a ton of new stores, amazing restaurants from award-winning chefs and restaurateurs and a great atmosphere.

We like to resort hop and have a drink and/or appetizer at the various lounges. The conch fritters at the Gurgling Suitcase in OKW is a favorite as is the Tusker Beer at AKL's pool bar.
In EPCOT we enjoy the concerts in the UK pavilion. Unfortunately, there isn't one in the Canada pavilion anymore or UK street performers either. Those were also enjoyable. There are a number of things at the parks to sit/stand and watch that younger folks just don't want to do as it takes away from ride times.

Thank you all for your fantastic suggestions. I am going to have to write a check list for our trip ;)

I love the idea of sitting with a snack and watching the parks clear out! DH and I leave in 28 days for our kid-free anniversary trip and I hadn't thought of that one :scratchin. What we already plan to do are 2 signature dinners, the KTTK tour, and Jellyrolls :thumbsup2 as well as taking all the time we want walking around WS. I think there's so much to do that isn't necessarily kid-centric, a lot of it you just have to look for!

Oh, and I'm doing characterpalooza. That's a must and I don't care if I'm the only adult there w/o kids lol!

I have to agree with the others who suggested Jellyrolls. It was the perfect date night for dh and I!!!

I cannot speak for anyone else, but, for me, at age 67, I do the same thing that the kids do. I ride rides, watch shows and have fun. Being grown up is highly overrated.

I've been on a couple kid free trips and while time with the kids is great the opportunity to tour WDW without them is a great experience. We've done a lot of what has been said, the backstage tours, the mouse boat rentals, golf and dining at the nicer places. Its all fun! I've not been to Jellyrolls but have heard good things and will try it next time. DTD has a great Margarita stand near the water that I always try to stop at even with the kids. But sometimes they have music in the afternoons and if the weather is nice its a good place to hang out and enjoy a frozen concoction or two. (Most expensive margaritas I've ever purchased though). The boat rentals are fun, especially at a resort like POR or OKW. We rented at OKW and went to POR and DTD in our little boats, we even stopped and had ice cream while on our visit. Staying at the parks late into the night without the kids is fun too. Just hanging out and going at your own pace is so peaceful compared to the norm. Enjoy yourselves!

This thread makes me really excited to go in May with my husband on our first ever "kid free" trip! Thanks for the suggestions, and I'm so happy for this thread! :) :)
