Other than bringing a pirate costume, what sort of things to adults wear on Pirate Night that help set the mood? Are pirate t-shirts acceptable? Bandanas? Other ideas?
We dress the kids up in some sort of pirate gear. This year we're just doing pirate t-shirts with bandanas and eyepatches. The adults in our group usually wear something tropical that night.
We're also going all out. DS is going to wear his pirate costume he got from when he did the Pirates League at WDW last year. I still have to buy one for my DH and myself.
Here (for a short time only) is a photo of us on Pirate Night on the Panama Canal Cruise. DH and I had pirate-type shirts on and Pirate Mickey ears. I drew a couple of scars on my face to boot. DD1 wore a "wench-like" outfit.
ETA - they gave out bandanas to everyone at the dinner table.
Thanks to everyone for the informative and encouraging posts! Just a follow up, would pirate themed t-shirts be acceptable for adults to wear in the dining room. I don't want us to appear underdressed... THANKS friendly DisBoarders!
On Pirate night I wear my black Pirate theme T-Shirt to the party and to dinner. It's really cute it's a picture of a scull and cross bones wearing a pink bandana with a earring coming out of it's ear and my shirt! LOL! I also wear black jeans and a pirate theme hair scrunchy as I don't think I look good in a bandana. I don't like to have to pack a bunch of stuff.
The table next to ours was empty that night, so we asked our server if we could take the extra bandanas that were just laying there (late dinner) - and of course, they went over and gathered them up for us, saying they'd just toss them anyways once put out. They made great unique extra gifts for our truly fanatical Disney friends back home who have never cruised! Actually used them as wrapping for the DCL pins we brought back for a few people...
Do how ever much you want to do and remember that they sell stuff on the boat too or you can visit downtown Disney and get your gear there too. Front worry about how you dress that is not the night to care, most nights I saw people dressed to the formal nines at dinner and I saw shorts it's really what you make it.
The simple answer to your follow up question is YES many adults wear pirate themed t-shirts that night and it is perfectly acceptable to do so at dinner.
