Our favorite is the WL. I'm sure everyone will say the GF (which is pretty, though I have no desire to stay there). The YC/BC are nice, as is the BW, and also the CR and the Poly.

All of the deluxe hotels are well worth a visit. The monorail resorts are great, as you can use the visit as a break from the parks. You can have a meal or a drink or just wander a bit, then hop on the monorail to the next destination!

The EPCOT resorts also are convenient from EPCOT (International Gateway) or Disney-MGM. These include the Swan & Dolphin, which are not WDW properties, but fun to visit. Take the Friendship launch from either park if your feet need a break or just walk from EPCOT (it's a bit closer than Disney-MGM), although there are walkways to both parks.

Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness are a ferry ride away from MK. FW is a great place to visit with children, as is AKL. AKL will require a bus ride or your own transportation.

If you're considering staying at any of the resorts, value, moderate or deluxe, schedule some time to visit them. It's a fun way to spend some time and you'll know which resorts are in your future! :)

It is soooooooo easy to tour all of the monorail resorts.... We often do that after dinner at Chef Mickeys...

WL is impressive too....

Definatly hop on the monorail and check out the Contemporary, the Polynesian and then GF while at MK. If you are in Epcot, you can just walk over to the Boardwalk, YC/BC resorts as well. If you head out at the International Gateway in Epcot, you can walk to BC, then to YC, keep skirting the lake and pass the Swan and Dolphin, then go to Boardwalk. Then you can go back to Epcot. It takes about 30 minutes to make the circuit around the lake.
You could also take a bus to the other resorts from the parks. I would check out the Animal Kingdom Lodge when you are at AK...just take the bus over to AKL from AK, check it out and then take a bus to either AK or a different park. It does take up time from touring the parks but it's fun to see the different resorts at the different levels.
