What discount did you end up getting and how much did you save?

How do you apply a discount to an existing reservation?

I have a Wilderness Lodge, ticket, dining package already booked for December. Can I just call and ask for free dining?

My original solo plan was to stay 3 nights at Pop (11/28/10 - 12/1/10), 3 day park tickets, Free Quick Service, airfare (N.O. to Orlando), MVMCP and one KTTK tour for a total of $872.77.

If I upgrade to Free Dining, my total goes up to $903.16 - an additional $30.39.

If I were to stay 4 nights, 5 day park tickets, Free Dining, airfare, MVMCP and KTTK tour, my total goes up to $1,025.01 - an additional $152.24 for 1 extra night, dining and park ticket.

The 25% disounted room only Promotion - 3 nights, 3 park tickets, etc. will cost $939.26

If I chose the $200 Gift Card Promotion, I would have to stay a min. of 5 nights. Then, I'd get 5 day park tickets, airfare, MVMCP and KTTK tour. The price comes to $983.67. Can I eat for 5 days on my $200 Gift Card? If so, this might be the better deal.

I plan on using the Disney Visa card and if possible, get the 6 mo. interest free promotion for my reservations. And if I pay for the MVMCP and KTTK tour with my Disney Visa, I can get a discount.

I'm looking for feedback on these offers so I can make a decision soon! Do you see any pros and cons? I have the vacation days to take, DH is taking care of the kids....

I would like to be able to see Osborne lights, MVMCP, Candlelight Processional and Fort Wilderness lights - that's 4 nights right there....

Thanks everyone!!!:thumbsup2

That's pretty much what you do. If you're eligible, they'll do it.

I never follow this forum, but I had something to contribute. :) We're doing our epic first trip starting Nov 30, filled with many moves around DVC properties and Universal and back, but we're starting off with a "beat the jetlag!" 2 night stay at CBR. No parks, just sleep and lazing around and looking around to our heart's content. :goodvibes

We have a standard pirate room, and it was 402 something. That's two nights, so obviously I paid one night's worth deposit. (we have tickets from UCT so didn't need a package)

Then I found out about the 30% off, as I was going through the process to switch my reservation over to a TA (to see what it would be like). After we got the reservation transferred to the TA, he called and got the discount applied.

So now I have the same type of room, same two nights, for 280. :thumbsup2 All I'll owe is around 80, instead of another 201, at the resort.

We are going Jan 8 - 17. So 9 nights.

Originally had room only at Pop ($916), 8 day PH tickets (UCT - $1197), and we bring $1000 for food/tips/souvies. There are 4 of us - 2 adults, a 6 year old and a 3 year old.

Total = $3113

Switched to the Free Dining. Upgraded to DDP. New total is $2326.11.

Savings of $786.89!!!!!! Awesome!

I priced out all 3 discounts and this is the one that saved us the most money!

We are doing room only the first night, though, since Dining isn't available. Works for me!

I have a question about posts like these. Are you saying you saved the money from what you had budgeted for food? Or did you already have dining in your package and with the free dining promo you got that amount taken off your bill??

Just curious.....for someone like me who wouldnt have booked w/the dining package, wondering if it's actually a savings, or more of a "perk"???
For us, it is definitely at least that much saved versus paying for food OOP. We had FD last year and it would have cost us about $650 to pay for it. We were blacked out for room only discounts with theexception of our last day as we were traveling over Thanksgiving, so there was no other discount to be had. Same situation this year. We booked with a FD pin and were blacked out for other discounts. I stopped counting reciepts on day 4 of a 7 day trip last year. I had cleared $600 already! We would want to eat at the same places wether we did DDP or not. We probably would order one adult dessert instead of 2, bu that would be the only difference in what we would order. Definitely a value for us.

Well, for our family, we buy the dining plan. So, when I booked with the free dining promo, I was able to take the cost of the dining plan off our package price thus saving us approximately $1,300.00.

I had originally booked "water pool view" at the YC for 7 days in January. The discounts came out and I called to possibly get the AAA discount. The CM I talked to wanted to know if I wanted to move my room catagory for a better discount. I told him no, I wanted the water view (thinking it would be a garden view or standard room). He said, well hear me out. "If you are willing to move to a different room catagory I can actually save you over $800 dollars and I see you have already paid a good amount to the room." I caved and asked him what he had. 'The deal was, lagoon view, CL for the 7 days and the discount came out to $880 discount! I was speechless, I heard him chuckle on the other end and then he asked if he should go ahead and book it for me. The only thing I could say was, "uh huh.":rotfl2: We already have park tickets and the DP would not benefit us, so we didn't need it. Come on January:sail:

We had already booked 7 nights with dining plan for me, DH and 14 yo DS for the week of Christmas. DH saw online that free dining was extended to include our time of stay so he called, they credited, and BOOM - we saved $800! :)

We took the free dining for the 5 of us (all disney adults) and saved $1320 over 6 nights at the POLY.

Now, i would have budgeted $200 a day for food or $1200 total over the 6 nights(have never used the DP) so that actual savings after tips with free DP is

$960

Still quite a nice discount. 40% off room would be $1080 saved.
