What 'dinner' restaurants are best for picky eater?

I was wondering does anybody have any tips on what restaurants are the best or good for picky eaters? I wouldn't be very adventurous at all, but I don't want to be eating too much junk food I'd like some proper dinners to eat.

The only places the appeal to me in the slightest is 'Planet Hollywood' and the Si-Fi Dine- In Theatre.

Just loking for people with experience in WDW dining :) Thanks :)

Wolfgang Puck's has mostly American food as well as some different dishes you can try.

I am quite a picky eater. I don't like sauces, pasta or many veggies. I also don't like - gasp - burgers ;)

Some of our favourites are Nine Dragons, Kona Café, House of Blues, The Plaza, Beaches and Cream and Raglan Road.

My DD and I have a trip in just over 2 weeks and will be eating at Yachtsman, Yak & Yeti, T-Rex, Kona Café, Be Our Guest and Via Napoli.

Food doesn't look too bad. Thanks for the input :) I appreciate it. Would you know of any where inside the parks that would have something like Wolfgang menu?

Can you give us a bit more information about what things you are picky about? And what sort of foods you do like?

Have you looked at any of the buffets? When my DD was a pickier eater, I booked a lot of buffet meals because I could usually find something she would eat on a buffet.

I have to say Nine Dragons, Kona, Beaches and Cream, House of Blues a bit to adventurous for me. Although Raglan Road has one or two things I might like to eat :) Thank you for your help! And I hope you've a wonderful time on your trip!! :)

It's kinda pickiness and also I have no interest in trying any new food. I like chicken/ meat, potato and veg dinners, steak, lamb. It's not so much the food its more the way its cooked, if that makes any sense at all. I don't mind pasta dishes but nothing too wild -lasagne, pesto, bolognaise or tomato sauce pastas would be the main ones I eat but many have different flavours some of which I don't like. I don't mind fast food or junk food (i.e. fries, burgers, pizza etc) but I would prefer if I didn't have to eat these every day as I feel bloated after eating fast food for more than two days in a row.

No I didn't consider any buffets at all! Thanks for that! Hopefully I could find something nice to eat. Would there be any buffets you would be able to recommend?

If you like meat, would you consider 'Ohana? It is mostly meat, noodles, some veggies, wings and potstickers. I was worried I would come away from there hungry but I was absolutely stuffed. The meats were delicious and I actually liked the noodles.

Perhaps the Rose and Crown might be suitable for you too.

How about Via Napoli? Pizza and pasta.

Many menus you are probably reading may scare you because the items include, relishes, compotes, sauces, etc.

Pretty much any menu item you see you can request the sauces and various toppings they put on them can be requested on the side. Then it's up to you whether you want to eat them or not.

I bet many of the underlying protein or pasta dishes you are looking at would be fine for you when plated plain.

No offense, but when you wrote "I have no interest in trying any new food." it made me laugh. I guess it's because when I travel/vacation I love trying new dishes/foods. Best of luck to you anyway. Hope you can find something you'll like!:)

Disney is very accommodating when it comes to picky eaters, they should be able to leave sauces off of most dishes on request.

Buffets are a nice choice because you can look at the food and pick out what looks best instead of hoping you like what you are ordering. Some that come to mind are Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare and Hollywood and Vine.

O'hana is really good but can be great for picky eaters. Via Napoli has great pizza and pastas. Teppan Edo is a hibachi restaurant where you can pretty much just eat grilled meat, noodles, and vegetables if you wish. I have never eaten at 50's Prime Time Cafe because it doesn't appeal to me but I see how it could be appealing for picky eaters.

I understand Pickiness and I am as picky as anyone but I have to know what is so "Adventurous" about Beaches and Cream? It seems like a pretty basic menu to me, hot dogs and Hamburgers mostly. You can ask for things on the side or omit them. I can see not choosing that one for the "Fast Food" aspect but I wouldn't call it "adventurous" :)

We have a picky eater who travels with us every fall. His favorite is liberty Tree Tavern. Its a basic Thanksgiving like meal served family style so he can pick and choose what he wants. Its now our go to meal before MNSSHP every year.

He also liked via Napoli but he had to pick the tomato chunks off his pizza, Boma breakfast and Sci Fi Diner round out his list of top picks

I totally get your pickyness and taste in food. It's the same as mine.
I can find something to eat at every restaurant. The junk food isn't like fast food. It isn't dripping grease or anything don't worry. :goodvibes

You can view all of the menus on allears.net and decide what sounds best to you. Most restaurants can accommodate leaving off sauces and such.

In MK, try Crystal Palace. It has a VERY wide range of food. It is a character meal, so be prepared.

Not a Buffet, and not a spot I would take a large group but, take a look at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. Again, it has a wide range of selections. Especially for a counter service. It's in the Land, on the same floor as Soarin'. So, it tends to get a bit crowded.

Cosmic Rays in MK, ABC Commissary in DHS & Restaurantasaurus in AK are all basically McDonalds (Although the first two are quite a bit better than McD).

Hopes that helps a bit!

For buffets, I would recommend 1900 Park Fare for dinner. It's at the Grand Floridian and they have a carving station with beef and I believe pork. When we were there, they had roasted chicken on the "kids' corner" of the buffet which anyone is welcome to help themselves to.

Someone recommended Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. While the menu is the traditional Thanksgiving type fare which might appeal to you, I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the food there for dinner. I much prefer lunch at Liberty Tree. I'd probably recommend Crystal Palace for dinner over Liberty Tree in the Magic Kingdom.

Ohana might work well for you, at least for the meats. Sauces are served on the side so you don't have to add them if they don't appeal to you. I love the side dishes at Ohana (almost more than the skewered meat), but some of them may not appeal to you. Even if you skips the sides, you will walk out of Ohana full.

50's Prime Time Cafe in HS has a lot of comfort foods. You might find something that appeals to you there.

I hope that helps.

I think you will find a lot of restaurants you may like, you just need to read the menus and remember you can customize your order (no sauces, relishes, or change a side) or order from the kids menu. Many restaurants will give you an adult size portion of a children's entrée.

You may like Liberty Tree Tavern or Crystal Palace in MK. Chef Mickey's at the CR or 1900PF at GF. In Epcot if you like pasta, try one of the Italian Restaurants, steak at Le Cellier is wonderful and Garden Grille has a nice variety. At AK, Tusker House has a good selection with carved meat and some basic sides and there is also rainforest café.

Good luck!

My husband doesn't eat any sauces or condiments but was able to find something everywhere we went!! He would just ask them before ordering what came on the things he thought sounded good. Most of the time he got steak and just made sure their weren't any sauces on it.

Thank you for your tips. I've not considered Ohana but I will look into it. :) Rose and Crown might be okay too. Via Napoli has a good range of pizza and pasta to offer, this might be going on the to do list :)

It probably is but several times in the past I've had to send dishes back as sauces etc where still on the plate from many different countries and the wait to get the fresh food does feel like a lifetime. But I guess DW actually cater for peoples needs, Thanks for the tip :)

Everybody has their own likes and dislikes. Not everyone likes the same things.

I think buffets would definitely be on the list to go to. Thank you for those three names of those places. I think I'll start looking these places up :)

I think with two recommendations I think Ohana and Via Napoli will be going on thee must eat list :thumbsup2. I think 50s Prime Time cafe kinda throws me for going a little with the 'scoldings' you get. I know you can tell them you don't wanna take part but still I'm not sure about it

I didn't mean to actually put that down. :lmao: as I was actually considering going to it. I didn't relise I put it down until you pointed it out :)

Oh the Tree Tavern sounds appealing with the Thanksgiving dinner. There is nothing nicer than a bit of seasonal dinners :)

That's not too bad. I know its a holiday and all but sometimes the junk food doesn't sit well. But thanks for the advice :)

Thank you. I've been looking at this site all night :rotfl2: its very interesting with loads of info :)

Thank you for your tips on places to eat. I will definately look both Cosmic Ray's and Restaurantasaurus to see what they are like :)

1900 Park Fare sounds interesting, I think I'll have to look that up. I think the buffets would be the main option for me. Ohana back on the list again might be a good idea :). Crystal Palace top of the list over Liberty Tree - got it thanks!

Again 50's Prime kinda throws me with their acting. I'm still quiet unsure of the whole acting thing.

I wasn't sure about ordering from the kids menu, as when I was in DLP I ordered from the kids menu as my friends had liked the restaurant. I ordered off the kids menu, the waiter made a big deal out of it. Then he'd to talk to the manager who couldn't be found. Eventually they found the manager and he didn't mind - but the experience threw me off from ordering from the kids menu.
Thank you for a few restaurants you mentioned. I've heard a couple of times that Chef Mickey's is a little overrated? I might look into it in more detail. I think I'll look into Le Cellier, Garden Grille and Tusker House, if they come recommended I'm gonna see if it will work :)

My husband doesn't eat any sauces or condiments but was able to find something everywhere we went!! He would just ask them before ordering what came on the things he thought sounded good. Most of the time he got steak and just made sure their weren't any sauces on it.

I'm still a bit on sure as many places I have been before still sent the food out with the sauces on it. I might try it in WDW hopefully they are more willing with orders than other places I have been.

OP, I could be wrong but I'm taking a guess that you are not American :confused3 In fact, I will hazard a guess that you might be from the UK (or at least Europe). In which case, all I will say to you (as somebody from the UK and a picky eater) is that WDW (and American restaurants, in general) are far more accommodating to us picky eaters than anywhere I've eaten in the UK or Europe. They are either used to it or they are just more accommodating. The customer service is beyond brilliant and, in my experience, they just can't do enough to make sure you have an enjoyable dining experience.

I understand the 'no interest in trying new things' as that is usually the way I feel when I am paying for food in restaurants - I want to know that I'm paying for something which I will enjoy eating, not take a risk by ordering something I might not like. Trust me when I say that, if there is something on a menu that you like the look of but there is an element you think you might not like, there is a high chance that they will be able to make it to suit your tastes :thumbsup2
