NOTE: I buy good, lean, ground steak. Not just hamburger...
Beefaroni (did this last night)
Beef stew/soup
Mexican Fahita over rice, grilled up in a hot skillet, with julienne onions and peppers, plenty of salt, chili powder, garlic, etc... serve over rice topped with come shredded cheese.
Country Steak and home-made Gravy (not often, this is not the healthiest!)
Swiss style steak
The Swedish dish, with Mushrooms (mushroom soup) and sour cream, over wide noodles.
One of the simpler ones, that my guys like...
I call it hamburger hash.... peel and cut up potatoes, fry with some diced onion in some oil... when this is half done, throw in the ground beef in large chunks.... plenty of salt... you can drain off some of the fat, and then add water (maybe a cup) so it doesn't get dry... Season with more salt, some garlic and paparika... Cover until done and is a nice hearty consistancy (not soupy).
My technique when browning burger for these dishes is to slice patty sized slabs right off of the package of ground beef. Cook, but do not over-brown... on a med to low heat... sometimes covered.... Stays tender and not all the small tiny pieces overly browned and rubbery from contact with the hot skillet. Then drain and break up the ground beef into the desired consistancy.
