Ok- I know this is strange but I think I must have very different tastes than most of the Diser's... Most of the favorites that I have tried have been some of the worse for me or at best just bleah.. So, maybe I should make a list of "least dis faves" and I'll find something I love..LOL

For example,
Le Cellier's been the worse meal I have ever eaten at WDW- twice- just too salty and I was so excited to try..

Dole Whips- YUCK.. I have tried these at least 3 times and I just don't get it...

Sunshine Seasons- Have tried once and just reminded me of school cafeteria food.

Cosmic Ray's- tried and food is just bleah and I hate the chaos of the
place...

Tonga Toast- Ok, good but not " so good, I'm gonna die"

Chef Mickeys- Oh what can I say??? just disgusting......

Now, some of our faves are Sci-Fi, Nine Dragons, Yak and Yeti, Via Napoli and T-rex.

So, anyway.... give me your least faves...

Whispering Canyon Cafe. Hate the food, hate the antics. Tried it twice, that's enough.

Yak n Yeti. Worst pho I've ever tasted. Tasted like dishwater. Had that the second time we went. The first time I had the lo mein and it was tasteless.

Kouzzina. Both my appetizer and entree were cold when they weren't supposed to be.

My faves are V&A, bluezoo, Il Mulino. More casual places that I enjoy are Sanaa, Boma, Turf Club, Tangierine Cafe.

Flying Fish. We had such high hopes. We put the boys in a kids' club and tried to make a night of it. We didn't like the menu, didn't like the food.

Maybe our expectations were out of line.

:)

We've experienced some of that as well. After all the hype, we didn't particularly care for Chefs de France and really disliked Ohana which is loved on these boards.

Other than Biergarten, we haven't liked any of the buffets for dinner (although dh did enjoy the clambake at Cape May). Breakfast buffets have been pretty good though.

I take most of the reviews with a grain of salt and go by the posted menus. If it looks like there is stuff I will like, we'll give it a try. Some of the menus hold no appeal and therefore, even if the reviews are fantastic, we won't schedule it. I think it depends on your style, ambition, etc. For instance, my dh would absolutely NEVER agree to V & As. No way, will he take dress clothes to Disney and he would never agree to a $200+ meal for the two of us at Disney. Perhaps in NYC or Washington DC but not Disney. We're not a foo-foo type of couple I guess.

Least faves

1900 PF for either meal...terrible!

Nine Dragons - grossville!

Chef Mickeys dinner - ick!

H&V dinner -horrid!

Boma dinner - who likes their meats/poultry covered in cinnamon and vanilla???? YUCK!

The only restaurant that we have really disliked was Boma. The flavors were just off for us. My husband loves meat and really didn't liked the meat dishes there. He said they tasted weird.

I was really excited to try the school bread in Norway. It was not good at all. I may have just been there on an off day. But it was like eating stale toast. We threw it away.

I thought that both Le Cellier and O'hana were just horrible

We have had good and bad dishes at many of the other restaurants but overall we have enjoyed most of the other food we have tried, but these two places were just awful. We have also learned that we don't get enough out of breakfast buffets to make them cost effective for us, and that we don't eat in a way that makes any of the dining plans worth the price/restrictions.

The only 2 we have not liked has been Boma, and Garden Grill. Both times I left hungry.

We didn't like the Garden Grill's food either. Chip 'n' Dale made up for the mediocre food.

It's funny that you posted this because we're just back from Disney and it kind of became our running joke/planning tool on vacation.

Without getting into specific restaurants, we liked the restaurants that generally get panned here. The restaurants that we didn't like were many of the beloved restaurants here.

We were there for 11 days and by the end of the 4th day we were altering our restaurant reservations as we went. My sister would ask me "Where else has bad reviews on the DIS" and we'd make reservations accordingly!

It was hilarious to us! It's odd that we're so different than the overall impressions/opinions held by so many here.

Hated Chef Mickey's Dinner...it was overpriced, the food was disgusting and cold, and our waiter was atrocious. The place was so loud and chaotic...DH said he'd never stay at the contemporary just based on that place alone. LOL

We loved:
Tusker House Breakfast - delicious, but I agree we didn't get our money's worth out of the breakfast buffets (we tried a few)
T-Rex - it was our favorite meal of our trip.
CRT Dinner - we loved everything about dinner in the castle.

We have also had mixed reviews of restaurants. We had terrible meals at Chef's de France (DH said NEVER AGAIN) and Hollywood and Vine.

Some of the best meals (good food, service, experience) we have had were at Sci-Fi, Artist Point, Via Napoli, Tusker House, and Kona Cafe.

We also love school bread, and the dole whip/vanilla mix.

That is what makes Disney great, something for everyone.

The famous pork with goat cheese polenta at California Grill was just okay for me, but I will chalk that up more to me not exactly liking pork and goat cheese, hahaha.

I didn't think Tonga Toast was very good AT ALL... Way too 'much' for breakfast. It might be better as a midday snack though.

Via Napoli is delicious, by the way. Don't get the hate for that one at all.

That cream cheese pretzel at MK that everyone talks about...ugh! It was awful! :rotfl2:

I didn't really care for Chef Mickey's either, but I did like the character interaction!

Where we won't dine:

Any of the buffets for lunch or dinner
Ohana's
Cosmic Ray's
Caseys
Flame Tree
Biergarten
Chefs de France dinner only

Some of our favorites
The Wave
Flying Fish
BlueZoo
The Plaza
Citricos
Shula's
Columbia Harbour House
Grand Floridian Cafe
California Grill

:confused3We've done the DP five times now and there are a few restaurants that I would never return to!!!
Chefs de France
Sci-Fi
The Wave

Some of our favs
Tutto Italia
Teppan Edo

Everyone has such different taste, it's hard to tell
:love:By the way I did LOVE the dolewhip!

Well, I had really really high hopes our last vacation.

The Wave got such good reviews on these boards. We let the kids go to the Neverland Club and DH and I had a date. Ugh. We got the appetizer for 2. Awful. I got the linguine with clams/shrimp for my appetizer. The clams were really good. But I took my first bite of the pasta/sauce, passed it off to Dh and asked him what he thought it tasted like. We both looked at each other and said "SPAGHETTI OS". Dead ringer for it. The shrimp were way overcooked and really off tasting. The pasta was still hard. Blech. DH thought his - a steak entree - was decent. Way too many onions, though, in the gratin. I had a habenero lime margarita - not one single speck of heat in it. was your standard lime margarita. But for $8...and in a shot glass size.

Tusker House dinner. I love African food. Boma is one of my faves. I figured this buffet was mostly vegetarian - I shouldn't have any issues. Bleh. Over seasoned, under seasoned, BORING. I was not a fan.

The jalapeno pretzel at AK - I was expecting flavor, maybe some heat, SOMETHING other than processed cheese flavor. If I had my eyes closed, I never would have been able to tell it was anything other than the standard cheese pretzel.

Boma breakfast, while good, can't hold a candle to Boma dinner. I would pay the $30xx for the falafel alone. However, the breakfast has the grilled tomatoes. Load me up with those, the goat cheese eggs, and some Boma mustard or sambal and I am golden.

Biergarten - I love love love German food - it's what I grew up on. However, this buffet was the most POORLY set up display I have ever seen. One side, people backed up across the restuarant waiting. Where the salads are there is this corner where everyone merges...it's horrible. I waited in line for 25+ minutes just to get my kids plates. Then had to go back and do mine. The food was eh. salads good, spaetzel was eh. Nothing like my grandma made.

However:

Crystal Palace impressed us! Clean, orderly, everything hot, fresh, and tasty!

Le Cellier was amazing - I had fish, he had steak. Everything was cooked perfect, seasoned perfect. Can't say enough good things about that dinner.

But the winner of the week - Rose and Crown! Enough that we cancelled other reservations to go back there again on our last night. Superb! And it gets mediocre reviews on here!

And we loved Tangierine Cafe, too. Top notch!

Things I didn't like:

1. Tony's Town Square: Bad food, mediocre service, crowded, and they hit me with sticks. Okay, not all of those things are true; it wasn't that crowded.

2. ABC Commissary at DHS. Revoltingly bad sandwich.

3. I had a pork dish at the otherwise good Brown Derby that I had to send back, because it tasted like dirt.

DH and I did not like San Angel Inn. Their mole was awful (:crazy2:).

Tony's is another restaurant I will not try again.
