My wife thought it was one of the best movies we have seen in awhile. I thought it was a great story but a so-so movie.

What did you think?

I liked it. Entertained me, which is more than most movies can do nowadays.

It was no Forest Gump, as it was being touted. But still worth a watch. :thumbsup2

I liked it. I thought it was good but too long. He spent too much time young or rather looking old. I think they could have left a lot out and made it shorter which would have made it better. It's a decent movie nonetheless.

I loved it. I was completely immersed in the story from the beginning and couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I also sobbed through the last 30 minutes or so.

I've heard people love it or hate it. DH thought it was okay, but a little long. He has a very short attention span ;)

If you liked the story, you must read the The Confessions of Max Tivoli by Andrew Sean Greer. It's based on the same short story, and it's one of my favorite books of all time. It's just fantastic.

I saw it recently and really liked it. Me and Kelsea spent a lot of time though checking out the makeup.

I could have done without so much of the James Dean wannabe poses/shots. It didn't add anything to the story.

Ironically, we rented this movie from Red Box while in Orlando. We were rained out of a few days of our Disney trip May 16-21; not the regular FL afternoon showers but the drought breaking downpours that were so welcome to locals.

Anyway, the four of us that watched it all thought it was just ok. A little long in the tooth, interesting premise (certainly not your done a million times storyline) but nothing spectacular.

I really loved it. :)

I loved the story, the makeup and the acting. Having said that however, it was a bit too long and drawn out.

We watched it Saturday night. I didn't realize how long it was. I liked it but like others say it could of been shorter. Brad Pitt reminded me of Robert Redford.

I haven't seen it. They advertise it every 15 minutes on the On Deman rentals menu for comcast and now I feel like I've watched it many times because the preview is 10 mins long... :rotfl:

looks interesting.

Entertaining enough.
Truthfully, I have never thought of Brad Pitt as a great actor. Lucky for him, he's good-looking, so I think the expectations for him are lower. Kind of like "Wow, it's amazing that someone that nice-looking can act reasonably well too".

i loved it. i almost cried. but i held it in because i was sitting between 2 guys who probably would have laughed at me...lol

I saw it in the theaters. The promos never really interested. The reason I saw it in the theaters is because my aunt got movies passes to it and couldn't find anyone to go with. I thought it was an ok movie with interesting plot. I agree it was too long. I rewatched a few weeks ago when I got it as a Netflix.

Slow, slow movie, I felt like the characters didn't matter. At the end of the movie, you're supposed to be cheering for the main characters, but I found that I didn't care. They seriously could have cut out 45 minutes of the movie, and you wouldn't have missed anything.

I believe in the (very) short story, Benjamin is born both physically and mentally old--while in the movie he is just physically old.

I also wonder at the historical accuracy of some moments. Wasn't there a scene with Ben and Tizzy(?) on a bus where they make faces at some white children? Wouldn't this scene have been well before the 1950s?

Yes, it was 1930 when Tizzy took Benjamin out. This was deep south, I was surpride he was even on a bus with white people, never mind growling at little white kids.

Question for those who have seen it recently..we were watching it last night, and one scene kept freezing. I couldn't get it to fast forward, it kept skipping to the next chapter. I want to make sure nothing significant happened. It was when Daisy woke Benjamin up in the middle of the night and took him down to the basement. She told him to "come under here" (covered table). What happens????

IIRC, that's when she made a little tent/fort under the table right? Daisy talks about seeing her mom kiss another man, then asks Ben to tell her a secret. He said he's not as old as he looks, and she touches his face to see what it feels like and the grandma comes downstairs. She yells at Ben to "play with people his own age" and that he should be ashamed of himself.

I didn't care for it. Storyline was ok but it was so long that I lost interest and didn't finish it.

I loved it. I saw it in the theatre and on dvd, both times I sobbed at the end...however I think that part of me sobbing had to do with them weaving Katrina into the ending.
