What did you get for Valentine's Day?

I did not get anything. I know this is not a very popular view, but both DH and I think Valentine's day is such a made up holiday. When we first got together (over 25 years ago) I told him to never buy me flowers on V day because they jack up the prices just because it is V day. And that if he could not be romantic during the year, then I don't want him doing it just because it is V day. So I am a very lucky woman. DH is romantic all year long. I get flowers all the time, just because he wanted to give me flowers. I get little gifts all year long just because. But because of the snow, this year I did get a great gift, DH was home all day with me. Now that is a nice gift!

This is how dh and I feel as well, we have not done anything for vday in 14 years.
Except for 7 years ago....my grandfather(95) died on vday with my grandmother and I at his side holding him......his fav color was yellow....when dh got to my grandparents house where I was, he came in with yellow roses for both she and I.......it was perfect......my grandmother and I still have them to this day. Infact while I was talking to my gram today she brought it up again......

Dh did go out this morning and get me an iced coffee this morning before he headed to work......not because of vday but because we are in the middle of a blizzard (18inches of blowing snow) and he knew I wouldn't go out for it and I have a daily addiction to this. he would have done this no matter what the day.

Chocolate covered strawberries and cash.

Also he is taking Thursday off and we will go out to lunch while the kids are in school. get the kids from school take them to burger King. then he is taking the morning off on friday we will go to breakfast again while the kids are in school. then he will go in to work late.

I got a sick hubby for valentine's day.

He got an American Express gift card and a mushy card.

I'm a huge stuffed animal sucker. Dh got me a stuffed pink bear that says Princess on it. A large stuffed Crown shaped Princess Pillow and a big stuffed red and white bear.

He also got me a gorgeous sterling silver and turquoise bracelet that I love!

I went and bought my own gift since I knew he wouldn't. Honestly we don't celebrate V-day but we have tax money and I really wanted to buy us something and used V-day as an excuse lol. I bought him a magazine and a DVD he wanted. And "he bought me" (I bought it for me from him lol) A shirt, a bra, and underwear lol..and I let him know he did a good job.

DH cooked me breakfast and is working on dinner. As a gift I am getting my next tattoo. :)

We decided to do homemade Valentines this year.

My Beloved burned me a CD with all our "love songs" on it. He even made a fancy cover for it. :music:

I painted my dh a picture for his office. :artist:

And tonight after the kids are all tucked in bed, we'll snuggle under covers and watch "Breakfast at Tiffanys".

I am blessed :cloud9:

My Friends With Benefits wrote me a poem and got me a spa gift certificate for an hour massage, a european facial, and a pedicure. I think he just got promoted to Official Boyfriend!

I know it's early but DH just told me he got me NOTHING for Valentine's Day. Not even a card- or an email card!! You know why??:confused3

Because it snowed today!! I got him and the kids their gifts two days ago because I knew it was going to snow. He could have done the same.

He really is a great DH so I'm just floored by this. It's the first time in 20 years together that I got nothing on VD.

So what did you get? Let me live through you guys today.

IIsn't it amazing how that works? The exact same thing happened here. I'm not sure whether to  or :rotfl: . I specifically mentioned to DH on Saturday that I was going out to buy Valentine's stuff since the weather was going to be nasty closer to Valentine's Day. I guess I should be lucky I got a "Happy Valentine's Day" from him this morning. I think he felt guilty because he didn't open his cards or candy. Plus, he is working late, so I may not even see him again today. :scared:

I got sent a beautiful arranagement of roses and other flowers, a card, and dh burned me a cd

We went to lunch this afternoon, spent 2 hours in line at Victoria's Secret waiting for all the "dorks" who waited until they got into the line to ask if they had the item in a different size to get me some new "stuff" for this evening.

We are having a dinner at home complete with filet mignon, champagne, and chocolate fondue for dessert *and more after the kids go to bed* ;) and then he is taking Friday off and has Monday off.

We don't do a big thing for V-Day as we have V-Day every day of the year but it is kinda fun to be a little extra romantic! :thumbsup2

60 years of Disney Musical Magic 5 CD in the mail today!:cool1: Of course, I ordered it myself, and BOUGHT it ON LINE MYSELF.:sad2:  Oh, and I get to cook dinner, and yes I PAID FOR THAT TOO! :rolleyes1 Any wonder WHY I go to WDW 6 times a year?

I gave my wife some quality time by herself today. We homeschool, so the kids are always at home, plus I work out of the house, so I am always at home too. Although my wife loves being with the family, once in a while she just wants a little alone-time. So I took the kids out and ran some errands so my wife could just chill for awhile. (kind of ironic that she wants to be alone on Valentines day :rotfl: )
She told me that she will give me her present after the kids go to bed tonight. :cool1:

I don't think DH will be getting me anything. He asked me (not so slyly) for my work address. I told him if he was planning to send flowers to save the $. They are too expensive, etc. Plus once the surprise in ruined, it's just different. Now he's a smart enough guy, he could find my address on the internet without having to ask me... but oh, well. he is not a card giver. So I am guess it's nothing. And that's truly OK. Since having our DD, I tend to want all of our efforts in this department to be about her. He gets me things all through out the year.

He did the cutest thing for DD(15 months) - her daycare has hearts hanging from strings in the hallways and she loves to look at them. So last night while I was feeding her dinner, he strung hearts all over her room, above her crib and changing table. He thought of this all on his own and seeing him take the time to want to please her makes me love him more than anything he could buy me.

On the other hand I am buying him a combined Anniversary (Jan 1), Birthday (Jan 26) and V-day present of a new TV. This one.

And I am bought tickets to see Legally Blonde the Musical next week, but these are more for me than him!!!

I got chocolate covered stawberries, yum!

I got him a Cardinal's World Series DVD, he's watching it now.

I got the kids heart shaped donuts at Krispy Kreme!

I am not getting anything (we don't celebrate V-Day), but my unborn child got the hiccups.

Actually I was rather impressed that dh picked up a boxed Valentine's Day 2007 (jumbo) pin when we were at WDW last month and kept it to give it to me today! That is all it takes to make me happy!

Jill

I always tell my DH not to get anything, so he cheats and gets me gifts and makes them from our girls

So....each of my DD's gave me a new Precious Moment :cutie: :cutie:
