I'm trying to zip the suitcases tonight as we have a really busy day tomorrow and are leaving tomorrow night. I keep thinking, "What am I forgetting?" So I thought it might be helpful (and fun) to find out what others forgot to pack. It could be my last minute checklist to just double check. :-)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I've forgotten swim trunks. Kinda necessary on a cruise. Fortunately I was able to buy a pair on board. Not the greatest, but serviceable.

I use a packing list that I check off as things are physically packed, but once I forgot to pack pajamas having checked them off by mistake. I remembered them just before we left for the airport.

I've forgotten:
- shoes for formal night.
- a swim shirt - we were doing a dolphin excursion and they didn't allow sunscreen and I wanted something for my shoulders. Bought something there.
- sun hat.

Flip Flops, can't believe I forgot mine, got everyone else's tho... Mom got new flip flops on board :) so happy ending....
Krazy Glue.. I always had one in emergency bag, in case anything broke (suitcase, nail, etc..) do by Murphy's Law yep DS sword broke for Pirate night had to get a new one.
Sunglasses
pin trading lanyard

Husband's dress shoes for palo (they let him go in sneakers once they inspected them and deemed them inoffensive)
Our passports (but we had copies and it was just a 4 night to the Bahamas and we don't get off in nassua)

My husbands dress shirt. He had it hanging next to the suitcase to throw in at the last minute to reduce wrinkles and forgot to add it. He wore a polo shirt for formal night and looked great but it didn't coordinate with my daughters and I in our formal dresses.

Everything at one time or another! We had to rent a suit one time. Forgot formal shoes another time... but had pirate boots!

Another not forgotten but need to adjust in the future: yoga pants. I brought 1 pair and wore them for at least a few hours every day. They were perfect for early morning walks, quick trips to get coffee or drinks, and any time I wasn't getting completely ready (i.e. between shower and dinner.) I'll definitely bring 2 pairs next time.

Feminine products--they just are not the same in foreign countries.

My business partner forgot under wear once...that was hilarious.

I travel for a living, so I typically do not forget anything...but I did learn a lesson in Costa Rica: Pack two pairs of sunglasses...because the sun is BRIGHT down there and if you break a pair...you will be sorry. I literally hired a driver to take me 2 hours in to "town" to get my glasses fixed. I always travel with 2 pairs per person now.

Oh, and lots of people on our WBPC cruise were freezing their tails off at the Frozen show. (Ironic) We packed fleece and wind breakers, so we were good to go.

I also pack slippers because they only provide robes in the SR (if you ask). Walking on gross carpet that other people have puked on, pooped on, walked on with fungus feet, thrown used condoms on... just gives me the willies. I used to be a housekeeping manager at a AAA 5 diamond resort...it changed my way of traveling for sure! People are GROSS.

My wife's bras! We were sharing a suitcase and she packed first while I was working then I came home and finished. She had her bras on the top of everything and me, being the thoughtful and kind husband I am, removed them to the top of my dresser so my stuff didn't squash them. Don't you all wish you had a spouse like me? Anyway, I may have forgot to put them back in after I packed my stuff. I spent every night of that vacation hand washing her 1 and only bra and hanging it to dry overnight.

The good news was she had plenty of fresh clean bras when we returned.

BTW thanks @Cynthia1215 for starting this post, this could get really fun!

I had to call Guest Services once and get a pair of dress shoes sent up since I left mine sitting on the settee in the master closet. Other than that, I forgot my binoculars once. I *have* forgotten underwear when traveling and had to go to the store on the way to the Keys.

I forgot my half bra which I needed to wear with a particular dress shirt to dinner. I had to rig my regular bra that has straps with safety pins that night so I could wear the dress shirt. It was not very comfortable at all. My husband forgot his swim trunks on one cruise and he had to purchase a pair in the gift store onboard - those were very expensive swim trunks!!!! I use these sticky ear tabs on one of my ears to hold my earrings in place since the hole the earring goes in has stretched out so much that without these tabs, it hurts to wear earrings in that ear. Well, I forgot these tabs on one cruise and had to use small pieces of scotch tape instead. It worked but was not nearly as good as these tabs that are designed specifically to hold earrings in place. I forgot a hair tie on one cruise and my husband and I had booked parasailing. My hair is down my waist so a hair tie is a must for those type of excursions. Luckily, a friend I was cruising with had n extra hair tie and loaned it to me. I forgot my favorite makeup brush on one cruise and had to use the only other one I had for multiple purposes which required cleaning it a lot. I usually end up forgetting something on each cruise but it never spoils the cruise because I am having so much fun. I just deal with it as best I can.

We've been lucky on cruises and not forgotten anything, but other travels, here were the ones that caused the worst headaches: My husband's white t-shirt to wear underneath his dress shirt, and contact lens solution. Have fun!

I forgot my left contact lens. I wear daily lenses and had packed a bunch of the right one. I thought I had checked that both were there but nope. I called all over port canaveral trying to find the other to buy - I had the prescription but no one carried it. So I had to wear my glasses everywhere.

I go by a strict packing list and start packing three weeks in advance, but I have forgotten my sunglasses(embarkation day was cloudy), much needed antacids, and autograph book (checked it off but didn't have it ).

After a couple of similar blinding experiences, I now travel with two pairs of sunglasses and also two pairs of reading glasses.

On one cruise I could not find my bowtie for my tux for formal night. Looked everywhere without success, yet I knew I'd packed it. As we began to repack at the end of the cruise, I noticed my tie had fallen under the bed next to one of the legs where it was very hard to see. I felt better about not forgetting it, but I was a bit put out that I had to rent one when I couldn't find it.

I'm much the same. I have a cruise packing list that I modify as necessary depending on destination (Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, etc), planned activities (snorkeling, hiking, etc), and anticipated weather. I begin packing 2-3 weeks out, mostly just gathering things and putting them in my suitcase. About a week out I do a pre-pack to (1) make sure I have everything from my packing list, and (2) that it all fits in the suitcase and I'm well under the airline weight limit. I remove the clothing to reduce wrinkling but check off everything once again when I do my final packing the day before my departure. When I return home I go back over my packing list noting anything unnecessary or that should have been taken. Consequently, I rarely forget anything, don't have what I need, or overpack.

I pack my own luggage. DW never touches it. That way I know what I've packed and where I packed it. We often do some cross-packing where we'll carry a change of clothes for the other, but these are always in a packing bag so when we get to our destination, we can just remove the entire bag from our suitcase and give it to the other person.
