What did you do with your old 35mm?

Well, I meant specifically to use the lenses for the Pentax. $350 currently gets you a body-only K110D which will use all your old lenses. But you're probably too far gone now, to the "dark side". ;)

At least most of us seem to know what happened to old SLRs... I don't have a clue what happened to my older non-SLR film cameras. Probably in boxes somewhere at my parent's house, I bet.

I just had 1 lens for the Pentax. And it is pretty grubby.

So, what do you mean about going to the "dark side"? :confused3

The "non-Pentax" side. :teeth: Just funnin'...

Ohhhh. Gotcha :thumbsup2 It is usually Canon vs Nikon, so I wasn't sure!

That's me, always on the fringe. :teeth: I also like Chryslers instead of Fords or Chevys, Subarus instead of Hondas or Toyotas, and Lotuses instead of Ferraris or Lamborghinis. (OK, I like all of the last three but a Lotus is the one that I have! :thumbsup2 ) Maybe I'm drawn to the underdog, dunno.

Groucho, I was born in your city... many...many moons ago. My sister still lives there.

You were wise to move. ;) Actually, my sister-in-law is currently in Chapel Hill getting her doctorate (experimental nuclear physics!) and another friend from here just moved to Chapel Hill as his wife got a job there. According to my math, Chapel Hill is exactly half-way to Orlando from Rochester and not far out of the way, so maybe on a future trip, we'll pick up the sister-in-law and take her with us. She's joining us next trip but we're flying...

I ebay-ed my whole minolta setup, seperately. I tried a local broker first. But got more for one item than he offered.
then bought a SOny F717. Ran that for 2-3 years and moved up to the XT.

I jumped ship to digital when it first arrived and sold all my analog equipment on eBay, like Bob said... "when the gittin' was good" :thumbsup2

I have an old Nikon 2020 film body collecting dust in my closet. The last time I checked ebay they were going for like $20, lol.

Fortunately I have a small collection of old cameras and related photo stuff, dating back to the 1930's or so -- so I can just add all that wonderful 35 mm stuff to my display!!! I think I'll continue to use it occasionally, as long as I can still find film!

I had a Canon AE-1 program, 5 lens, MA motor drive, speedlite, filters and bag. Except for some foam that was drying out on the body, everything was in excellent condition. I was in a camera store looking at lens for my new Canon 20D, told the salesman about the AE-1 outfit and was told they would be happy to take it for credit on the new lens. I drove 45min back the next day, talked to the same guy, and was told that there is no market for the camera. He didnt even want the lens! Boy was I mad. I realize he didnt get to see it the previous day, but he could have told me he didnt want it. Needless to say, he lost out on a $500+ sale that day. I ended up giving it all to a Salvation Army collections truck that came to town. It will probably be more appreciated there.

Judging from the used sales prices, a Canon Elan (sort of the equivalent of a 30D) sells for about $50 without lenses. I'm sure that an old Rebel would go for a bit less.

I'd do the same thing with it that you do with old National Geographics, your old record player, your old VCR, etc. Find someone that wants it and give it away. You could pick up a few bucks on eBay, but if you're not inclined to do that, I don't know where you'd find the market for one these days.

As for me, I sold my Rebel for $25 and my Elan for $50 back in 2003 to friends.

I'm just going to keep mine. Eventually, I'll be able to bring it out a show my kids what it was like to take pictures 'back in the day'. My grandpa gave me his old brownie box equipment that I have displayed on a shelf in my living room. I figure one day the old 35mm's will have the same meaning. I even saved my first digital camera too! One that too 3 1/2 floppy disks.....that's going to get some laughs 20 years from now.

Keeping mine too-maybe I'll donate it??? but DS broke the digital display for my Cannon Rebel-so it's hard to use unless your familiar with it

We still use one of those at my office, for taking pictures for ID badges. 640x480, no zoom. Absolutely GHASTLY image quality. It makes me more likely to cry than to laugh any time it gets dug out! :sad2: We got the approval a year or so ago to get a newer one but then there was another re-org and it got put on the back burner... so the Mavica lives on. Shudder...
