What did you do today to save money?

Great thread, OP!!! ::yes:: (Should we do this every day?)

I sent DH to work with a lunch of last night's leftovers so no FF meal for him.

I was going to go out to Wal-Mart and Sam's today, but after spooking myself about the reliability of my van, I stayed home and did laundry and cleaned a little bit.

I was going to get something at Wal-Mart or Sam's for dinner tonight and I was feeling sorry for myself, so I was going to just pick something up at a drive thru or pizza when DH came home. Well, he was so late, that DDs and I ate leftovers and when DH came home, he ate frozen pizza.

This is a terrific idea. Should we keep posting until the end of the week, then start over on Monday?

Resisted the urge to eat out and ate leftovers instead

Cranked up the fireplace to keep the heat from coming on for a couple hours.

DH and I played Monopoly instead of going to see a movie. He won. ;)

I spent some extra time cha-chaing

This is a great thread! I'm getting lots of ideas.

I don't have anything to offer today, but I'd love for this thread to keep going. I'm getting a lot of ideas and I really need to save more money.

Hitting the library for dvd's(and buying 2 from Blockbuster pre viewed rack)

Does nabbing Emily Rose for 4 bucks count?

What a neat idea for a thread!

Unfortunately I didn't do much to save money today, and I'm fully aware of the amount of $$ I need to shell out over the next three months (yikes!).

I did pack breakfast (waffles and syrup) and a snack (banana and mixed nuts) and my friend paid for lunch. But then I killed the budget by going to a Longaberger home show. All the basket sets are on sale for 20% off this month, otherwise I would not have considered a purchase at this time. I had an amount in my mind that I wanted to spend and ended up passing on buying a set (basket, liner & protector) and purchased only the basket because I wanted a liner for another basket and a pillar candle too. I can always get the liner and protector another time.

Brought some boiled eggs from home instead out getting a honey bun from the vending machine for breakfast. I drank water instead of soft drinks and brown bagged it for lunch. I like to think of brown bagging it as giving myself a raise at work since we can order our lunch and have it deducted from our paycheck. These add up quick!!

Turned the heat down when I went to work
Scheduled myself a few extra hours next week which will net me an extra $50 cash for savings.
Did a survey that got me to the $10 cash out.
Had DD use her own $2 for a fundraiser at school that includes facepainting.

I went to Target early this morning and bought a London Broil steak for 14 cents.

:cool1:

And I was THRILLED.

It was marked $5.14. It had a "$3 off" 'sticker on the package and I used a $2 off coupon.

So.......14 cents. I didn't have time to cook it today so I put it in the freezer.

Maybe we'll have it this weekend. It was pretty big so I think if I make noodles and gravy or something else for the sides, we can split it. (Sat night we will be childless..........might be a good night for steak!)

1) Got my auto insurance renewal notice and called to dispute an "at-fault" accident. They agreed I was "not at-fault" and lowered it back to the previous rate. Savings $208!:woohoo:
2) Refused to cave in to my son's desperate and obnoxious demand for a new "Flash" or "Aquaman" action figure at Target - Savings $4.99 - $9.99 (+ reinforcing to him that I will not cave to whining, pleading, demanding and tantrum-throwing in the toy aisles)
3) Ate leftovers for lunch
4) Didn't shop the sale at kohls that was tempting me

I didn't *have* to have any of it for my dd so I didn't use my Gymbucks.

What is with you chicks?! Seriously, if you aren't going to use them up budget board ladies, send me a PM. I would gladly take them off your hands! :woohoo:

I brought home the uneaten half of my sandwich from ds' b-day dinner tonight to have for lunch tomorrow. :)

Actually, I almost didn't ... we pulled out of the parking lot when I realized I'd left it on the table. I was kicking myself for wasting the money, so dh turned back into the lot and ran back inside the restaurant just in time to rescue my take-out container from the waitress clearing our table. My hero! :thumbsup2

I really wanted to go the Linens & Things (have a 20% of total purchase coupon) but resisted. Wanted to stop at Wawa for an iced tea but brought a bottle of water with me instead to resist the temptation.

I also have gym bucks but I really do not need anything so I may have to sit on that.

ETA: I have a been cooking all week instead of ordering out, it takes alot of planning, but I just got my Market Day order so I should be good to go for the next week or so.

I walked into Bath and Body Works and walked out with NOTHING!

Tried on three pair pants at CJ Banks and decided I really didn't need them.. Even at the low price of $4.99, I likely would never wear purple pants.

Instead of going out to eat we picked up a rotiserrie chicken. Instant healthy meal plus leftovers for less than what we would have spent buying fast food.

Let's see....

Dh took lunch to work with him - saved $6

I cleaned out the bathroom closet and found: 4 new bottles of shampoos & conditioners, 6 cans of shaving cream, 11 bars of soap (I knew about those), 8 tubes of toothpaste (all acquired for free), 2 unopened toothbrushes (also gotten for free), 3 bottles of contact lens solution, 3 new deodorants and that's a total savings of probably around $40-60 if I paid full price for them (which I never do anymore now that I use the grocery game.)

I dropped the kids off at school and came home - no errands to run today - saved some gas.

We ate dinner at home AGAIN (yay me!).

And two days ago, on my shopping trip, my grocery game savings was $57.80!!!

I made the free after rebate Crock Pot meal from Banquet. Was sort of icky like canned stew. But dinner was free and so sad for me, lunch tomorrow is too!
