What did you bake today ? OK if not from scratch

Update-

I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to test the snowflakes. They came out of the molds perfectly after several hours in the deep freeze. I can also see the vein details and the iridescent white sugar I sprinkled in the molds. So maybe this will work with the more intricate shapes. I plan to fill the molds with melted chocolate and sprinkles to dip the rough sides to complete the appearance. So more pics of these to come.

I love this experiment! What kind of dough did you use? Did you adjust time and temperature for the thickness of the cookies?

I can't wait to see how they turn out once they've been set in chocolate!

It's shortbread. Specifically, it's Ina Garten's shortbread recipe. The only thing I did differently was vanilla bean paste vs. vanilla extract. You can actually see the vanilla flecks in the cookies. I did have to adjust the time. I've used this recipe many times so I know what "done" looks like. If you've ever baked pie dough, it goes from having that greasy look to flaky crusty looking when it's nearing done. The trees finished about 10 minutes...maybe a little more...before the snowflakes. I suspect it's like some of my cake pans where it takes longer for the center to cook. We'll see if they're tough, but in hindsight...once I noticed this, I probably should have also reduced the heat for a more even bake.

I'm really hoping the chocolate plan works. It should. I've used other silicone molds before and have been successful with chocolate work. I've just never done it to spruce up a cookie. I also need to bake more!

Happy to share! They are really easy to make because you use a box cake mix. You can make it with any flavor cake mix.

1 stick butter (at room temperature)
1 block cream cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box chocolate cake

Mix 1 stick room temperature butter with 1 block of cream cheese until well mixed. Mix in the egg then mix in the vanilla. Once everything is well blended add the cake mix.

Chill for 1 hour

Roll into 1 inch balls then roll in confectionery sugar.

Bake 350 for 10 minutes.
Thank you so much @LoveDaisy I made these yesterday, they are so delicious. I think my daughter has a new favorite cookie. I will be making these again.

@TiggerTrigger I love your creativity. I would have never thought to make cookies in molds but I love the way they turned out! I can’t wait to see them with the chocolate added!

@Suger Mag i am happy to hear the cookies turned out well and your daughter liked them! You can do it with any cake mix. I have also made them with lemon and red velvet cake mixes.
