I am now 33 weeks pregnant. It is time to start getting ready to go to the hospital. Especially since I had DS a month early! I know I need to get my hospital bag together. And I know the basics...clothes, toiletries, and such. But I am having a devil of a time trying to find a going home outfit for the baby. She is a girl so I know that it needs to be a girl outfit. :rotfl: Other than that, I am at a loss. Any advice? What else should we take for her? Or us?

We had the dearest Classic Winnie the Pooh outfit for DD. One piece jammies and the sweetest hat with little bitty pooh ears! :lovestruc:lovestruc Our favorite nurse was so funny, we had been there all week and she just loved on DD so when she saw how cute she looked, the nurse scooped her up and took off to show her to all the other nurses and we had to chase our baby down! :lmao:

I always brought an undershirt with fasteners (you have to get used to putting onsies on without thinking you are going to break them :lmao:), and a one piece outfit with feet, that zipped. Getting baby dressed takes a little practice!

Just a onesie and shorts...

We didn't know what we were having so I had a pink outfit and a blue outfit both times. As others said, I just had a very cute one piece jammy type thing with snaps. And a hat. Depending on the weather where you live you may want short sleeves or long and maybe a heavy blanket. I didn't bring much for baby beyond that. Outfit, hat and blanket.

And of course don't' forget the car seat. You may want to install it, or at least the base part if it has one, now so it is all ready when the time comes and Dad isn't nervous trying to get it in right!

ETA: Piecy's pic reminded me-- pacifier if you think you don't want your baby to use the one from the hospital. We were warned in Childbirth class to bring out own since the hospital ones were specialized and not easily replaceable. The last thing you want is for your baby to become attached to a paci you can't replace!

We didn't know what we were having either, but once she was born my mom went out and bought her an adorable light blue smocked baby dress. :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

I'm going in next week to have daughter #2 (uh, finally!), and I let my 5-year-old pick out the outfit. She chose a Pink fuzzy one-piece with a hood that has bear ears on it. It's by Carter's and pretty warm (good for Utah) and really cute.

With 7 weeks left, what might be fun is a baby's first Christmas/Thanksgiving outfit. Good luck and have a healthy pregnancy!

With my first dd, I found a pink romper with white lace peter pan style color and little rosettes on it. It was March, but we also had a gorgeous white blanket to wrap her in. With my second, I found a white sleeper with white lace accross the bottom and an appliqued teddy bear, also in white on the chest. They also wore these outfits for their first church services and to have their first pictures taken, but that was the only times they wore these, and then I tucked them away in a rubbermaid bin to save for them when they are grown. Other than their christening gown, these were the only clothes from when they were babies that I saved for them, I'm not a big saver, and we were in the military, so have moved 5 or 6 times since the second was born 9 years ago, too much to keep track of it all, but I wanted them to have that one special outfit each and then the christening gown my mil made for them.

All 3 of mine wore the same thing, although the one born in the summer didn't really use the big blanket. They had on a newborn size sleeper that we got at a baby shower -- chose it because it was little. They were then wrapped in a white embroidered receiving blanket that was my husband's when he was a baby. Then the whole bundle was swaddled in a blanket my MIL crocheted.

After DDs were born (we did not know their gender) MIL went to her favorite children's clothing store and picked out an adorable dress and blanket for us to dress them in for the trip home.

Hubby is in the car business, so first son was brought home in a blue sweater outfit with a car embroidered on the front. Hubby is also a huge Steelers fan, the next two were brought home in the same outfit, white onesie outfit with Snoopy dressed in a Steelers uniform, had a little hat to go with it--we're originally from the Cleveland area, needless to say our nurses were not all "ga-ga" over the outfit. :rotfl: They all used the same little fuzzy zip up with ears to come home in, it was a gift from DH's mom. All were born in late fall or middle of winter.

All my babies came home in one piece jammies. Thats all they lived in until their first outing :) Different one of course, not the same one day after day

when DD was born, we had chosen a beautiful beige one-piece outfit with matching socks for her to wear home, but some friends of ours brought a gorgeous one-piece, white & pinked striped outfit with an attached bib that said "Thank Heaven For Little Girls" to the hospital as a birthday gift, so DD wore that home.

Apparently, my parents put me in a poofy pink dress and hired a limo to drive us home. Been spoiled ever since

Congrats, OP!!!! Post some pictures!

All my babies came home in the same outfit. It was a sleeper with pink, blue and green teddies all over it. Worked for boy or girl. Onsie and socks underneath and bonnet or hat and crocheted blanket. And paci:goodvibes

My mom brought my twin brother and me home in what used to be called "day gowns." Mine was pink and his was white. I brought each of my daughters home in the same pink gown I had worn. It was really special to be able to do that!!

My DS came home in a blue striped Jammie piece from Carter's with Baby on the front. We lived in S. Florida and it was April, he didn't need anything more than that. Everything is A/C'd though so we though long sleeves would be best.

With this one I want to do something a little cuter. It's going to be March in NH so something with a matching hat instead of the hospital hat!

We are in Florida but in the upper panhandle, Pensacola. I have a bunch of hats since Dad-to-be really likes picking them out. There is one sleeper that is pink with monsters all over it that he absolutely loves. I think maybe that one will be the one we put in the bag. Thanks for the paci advice. I never would have thought to bring those!

All the babies in my family have come home in Polly Flanders outfits. Very traditional, usually smocked, simple outfits. :)

Best Wishes to you!
