What did you absolutely hate about CBR?

Just got back from CBR on Tuesday. It is my favorite resort. I have probably stayed there 7 or 8 times and never had a bug in the room. Have stayed in Martinique and Aruba and prefer Arbua. In fact I have requested it my last 3 visits. It seems like I'm in the minority, but I actually enjoy the walk over the island to OPR. My kids actually like the pool in Arbua better than the main pool - they don't like the crowds so the theming of the pool isn't important to us. We love the food court. We don't eat there a lot, but we love the atmosphere, the music and my daughter & I love the gift shop area. The only negative of my trip this year was that I did not get to spend enough time at the resort - my son kept me too busy in the parks!! My husband didn't get to make this trip and he is the one who gets us to leave the parks in the afternoon, stop at OPR for a refill in our mugs and then go for an afternoon swim. I never got to swim in the daytime, only at night, and I didn't get to visit OPR nearly enough!!! On the flip side I did get to do just about every attraction in all 4 parks and all our favorites at least twice!!

I have to agree, nothing, one stay was enough for me

OK...who has the two cutest pugs e-v-e-r!!!!!! I called my son over to look at your babies. Adorable! :flower:

We are by nature animal lovers. 5 cats, 2 dogs, 1 bunny, 1 hamster...

We love em all but what a great pic!! Love the harness on them too. ;)

I loved it! DH and I stayed there in May, in Aruba. It was kind of long walk to the food court, but for 2 adults, not bad. The busses were full, but we could always get on the first one.

We'll definitely go back, after we try the rest of the moderates. Hopefully soon!!!

I didn't like bus transportation. It takes forever to be done picking up everyone from all the stops at the resort before heading out to the park. The bus was always full and the bus driver keeps shoving more people in. So we're like a can of sardines.

I don't like the fact that there's cockroaches in both rooms we stayed at. We have stayed there twice. For some reason, those bugs like to follow us. One was the second floor in Jamaica and the other one was first floor in Martinique.

The carpet wet and musty smell. We slept with the carpet dryer for 3 nights. The front office knew, but didn't move us to a different room. After the 3rd night, we left to CSR. CSR made up for the bad experience at the CBR. CSR is beautiful! And the room is very clean and no musty smell. And their A/C is central, not like the old kind.

Here's what I did not like about CBR (in comparison to CSR):

too many bus stops (7 or so)-took forver to get going!
very short pool slide
our room was a hike and it's now a room you have to pay $15 more for.

I think we need a thread about what you hate about CSR since many have voiced their opinions on CBR.

Nothing! We absolutely loved CBR. We loved the hammocks and the music playing in the background. Wonderful. We loved the pool and we did not have a problem with the buses. We can't wait to stay there again. After we try a few different resorts. :teeth: This last stay we went over to visit CSR (after all the good things we read here). We toured the resort and then had lunch at Pepper Market. Pepper Market was okay. The only reason we ate there was because we had some Q&C's. I have to say CSR wasn't our style. It didn't really appeal to us. I didn't like the 'feel' of the resort and we would miss having a "regular" food court.

We absolutely love CBR!! We've really not nothing to compare it to, however, but I don't think that matters. We've stayed in both Martinique and Aruba and never minded the walk to OPR. We also never waited more than 5-10 minutes for a bus but we always go in the off seasons, so that might be a factor. I can't say that I ever remember being aggrevated at the numerous stops. I do remember them though. Guess I just didn't think about it.

Coco, those pictures of your babies are adorable!!!!
Thanks!!! :flower:

We also had a great time at CBR's pool. IMO CBR has a more family friendly atmosphere. :flower:

for the first time. It seems that the two things people like least are: (1) the walking (2) the numerous bus stops. I love to walk and run and can't wait to have a 1.4 mile run around the lake (twice) every morning, so I'm not worried about the resort being spread out. I will have a rental car, so I'm not worried about the bus being crowded and having frequent stops. I guess I'm good!

And bugs - well I already have them in my house (kidding)!

I LOVe CBR!!!! It is a great resort! Stayed there in Feb. with my sister and niece and nephew they liked it as much as the delune resort we usually stay at!!!

We did see a lot of joggers on the path when we were there....it is a great resort for having a long trail available! We did rent a surrey bike, that was nice. However, I love the tropics, and this was just not my cup of tea. :confused3 We gave it a try.

We didn't like the size of the resort.. too much walking to get a soda at the food court after you'd been walking all day.

We weren't given a map of the resort until I saw someone with one at the end of our stay. We spent most of our time wandering around. I don't think we made it to the same bus stop ever!

Also didn't know about the transportation to your room. We walked from the main check in to our room with two babies, two strollers, two diaperbags, two carry ons AND didn't know where to go.

The transportation was crap. It was like staying at the All Stars and putting three resorts on one bus.

Otherwise, clean and I liked the theming.

I am trying to decide between CBR and CSR. People seem to just be in love with CSR but I am leaning more toward CBR. I like the tropical theme of CBR. So what did you just hate about CBR when you stayed there?

The only thing I did not like about CBR was how far my room was from the main pool. However, I was very close to a quiet pool and the bus stop. :flower2: I would stay there again.

The only moderate I am willing to do now is POFQ which looks absolutely gorgeous!

DO IT! This is our absolute, favorite moderate resort. I personally think it kicks CBR butt!

We hated nothing about CBR. It's beautiful and really well themed, it's just awfully large. POFQ takes the cake in my book!

We have staryed at CBR, CSR and POR. We like CBR the best!! We love the theming. Caribbean just says "vacation" for me. Plus CBR was our first Disney trip and it holds a great deal of sentimental value for us. We have always been fortunate to get great room locations near the food court (before you had to pay extra for them......but I would pay more for them). We haven't stayed there since the rehab so I can't comment on the new food court. The old one was ok. But we didn't eat a lot of meals there. Just an occasional breakfast or lunch if we came back to swim. Room size is about the same at all three, though I think I read somewhere that CBR's room are slightly larger. CSR has a more interesting themed pool. We always opted for the quiet pools at all three. CBR has water activities...not sure about the others. CBR and CSR are big resorts. The bus stops don't seem to be as far from the rooms at CBR. When we stayed at CSR, it seemed that they were farther away and there were fewer of them.

We liked them all, though not quite as much as CBR. I wouldn't have a problem going back to any of them.

What I didn't like was the food court. Although I hear it has been under refurb since then and is changed. Before you used to go to every station and had to pay at each individual station, not just pay all at once for everything when you were done.

I guess this is no longer. I stayed back in 2000.

I also didn't like that we didn't have a pool. It was under rehab at the time. No biggie, these things happen, I am not blaming the resort at all for this.

There wasn't an internal bus system when we were there either. This doesn't bother me because I don't care if a resort is spread out or not. I like the exercise.

Would I stay there again? Yes, but not anytime soon because there are all the other resorts I have yet to stay at.

The resort is very spread out. We bought the refillable mugs thinking we could fill them up in the evening to have something to sip on in the room. We were in Trindidad South, so we would have to hop in the car and drive to the food courts and back. It was just too far too walk, especially with a little kid who had been walking all day. It just made the mugs almost a waste of money.

Also the food court was not that good.

But we enjoyed our stay. I would consider staying at CBR again if we could stay closer to the theme pool and food court.
