What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Yummy WPE food :teeth: That was really sweet of you to give the WPE CM's gifts, bet they were well chuffed :)

WPE food is always yummy, and it helps to have something yummy when you know it is about time to go home! :sad2:
They both liked their gifts, the CMs there are sooooo nice!

I hate the last day feel.:headache:
Your lunch looked great. It is very thoughtful that you and Tom take the time to show the CMs your appreciation. You are both good people!:goodvibes

That last day feeling is really depressing! :sad2: We needed something to cheer us up - therefore lunch at WPE! ;) :lmao:
Those two CMs really went above and beyond to make us feel happy, so giving them a little present was just paying back a little bit of their kindness! :goodvibes

Just stumbled upon your trip reports. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! May I ask what software you use, if any, to compile/organize your report (on your website)? Our first trip to WdW will be Feb 2012. Yes, too far away. So the only thing I can do is prepare, prepare...and I need to find a way to capture Disney memories. I find the way you present the information is just captivating and very appealing. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Keep reporting, did I tell you it's awesome?

Hi! Welcome here and welcome to my homepage! :goodvibes I feel SO honoured you like them so much!

I work with Frontpage on my homepage. Tom and I looked through some home-pages to get a few ideas and worked from there. It's a neat way to keep memories of you trips (even though I am BEHIND on about all my trip reports on my homepage! ;) :rotfl2:)
I write all my trip reports in Word first, then I set up a page for a certain day and do the layout. If you have any specific questions just let me know! I am more than happy to help you!
When are you planning on going in February 2012?

More coming up shortly - on my threads and my homepage! :)

You are the NICEST people!! Those CMs must have been AMAZED you thought of them on your cruise and brought them back a gift- really, you take nice to a whole different level!:goodvibes

Oh, thank you, Ellen!
To see the smile on their faces was the best reward ever - priceless! :goodvibes

That WPE pizza looks soooo good! I can't find wood-fired pizza anywhere in my town so I dream about that WPE pizza!

You guys are so sweet to bring the CM gifts!

WPE pizza rocks! ;) :thumbsup2

Those two CMs were so nice and made OUR stays so extra special - they deserved a little something in return! :goodvibes

Day 28, September 10

An Enchanted Grove Snack

Lateron in the day we met with Mary Ellen and Joe and made the LONGEST Detour to find the Magic Kingdom, but that is another story and you'll need to read my trip report for that! :rotfl2: ;)

When we finally made it to the MK and "ran" to meet with our friends we were real thristy - we had lots of snack credits to burn, so we went to the Enchanted Grove for some drinks.

IMG_8098.jpg

I got some raspberry lemonade slush! Cold, tart and refreshing, what else can I want! ;)

IMG_8096.jpg

Tom and Joe had some water and Mary Ellen had some raspberry lemonade. We sat inside Cosmic Ray's, which was surprisingly empty and enjoyed our drinks while telling them our detour story!

How much did we actually cost Disney?
54 dining credits
36 snack credits
WPE ...... 44,00 (2 DC ......... 10 DC remain)
2 Refillable Mugs ...... 29,80
Enchanted Grove ...... 6,60 (2 snack credits ......... 23 snack credits remain)
Cost altogether ..... 1509 $

420$ - 1509 $ = 1089 $

Next up - Dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe

Oooh I love te Raspberry Lemonade Slush, we always make a point of visiting the Enchanted Grove now, esp on our first MK day :teeth:

I love the WPE updates. The meatball pizza and chicken tenders are two menu items I would love to try. It's going to be hard to choose.

The Raspberry Slush looks good. Where is the Enchanted Grove? I am guessing in Fantasyland somewhere?

The Enchanted Grove is opposite Cosmic Ray's towards Fantasyland - it is a little "house" that sells beverages - there are even a few tables outside if I remember correctly! ;)

just stumbled across this. Now I need to read up on how you didd 21 days. Sounds great!

It takes me forever to drink it! :rotfl2: And I do understand about the brain freeze - maybe this is why I want to have it towards the end of a trip - so I don't realize it's time to go home because of the brain freeze! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Karin, I've been catching up on your reviews and really enjoy reading them. Now that we finally have another trip scheduled (August), I am planning on a couple of new spots based on your review. We love WPE too and would also rather go there than Narcoosees!

Karin - You and Tom are truly two of the kindest folks I've ever met. The fact that you had gifts for the CM's doesn't surprise me at all.

We had a "not so great" experience at Narcoossee's that has kept us from going back too.

:woohoo: for catching up!
When will you be at WDW in August? And where are you going to stay?
And most of all ............ where are you going to eat? :lmao: Yes, nosy me, wants to know it all! ;) :rotfl2:

Thank you, Kat! I can only return the compliment - we loved meeting you - one of our fondest WDW memories! :thumbsup2

So we're not the only ones with a not so great experience at Narcoossee's? We should give it a second chance, but there are just too many other restaurants calling my name? :lmao:

Day 28, September 10

Dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe

We were so not ready for the last one of this year's Disney Dinners.
After doing some extensive packing, we met Mary Ellen and Joe at the Boardwalk. We walked over to the restaurant and were handed a buzzer and told that we could walk up and down the Boardwalk.
It took about 10 minutes until we were called back and seated.

Our server came by right after we had been seated and explained the menu, then left us to study the menu.

While we were still deciding our server brought

a basket of slightly warm bread

and some butter. All of us tried it and deemed it very nice.

Then it was time to order appetizers. Since we knew it was so much food, we shared with Mary Ellen and Joe again. So we ordered the

IMG_8105.jpg

Flying Fish Cafe "Crispy Maine Coast Jonah Crab Cake" - Savory Vegetable Slaw, Roasted Red Pepper Coulis, and Ancho Chile Rémoulade. We all really enjoyed the crab cake, which had very little filler and went really well with the remoulade and slaw.

Our other choice was the

IMG_8107.jpg

Special Thunder Appetizer - Herb and Fennel Pollen-roasted Maine Lobster Salad, Fennel, Cucumber, Asian Greens, Yuzu Essence, Lobster Vinaigrette, with Fennel and Dill Emulsion, which was delicious.

Mary Ellen and Joe both ordered the

IMG_8112.jpg

Flying Fish Café "Char-crusted Certified Black Angus New York Strip Steak" - Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Root Vegetables, and Pole Beans, with Classic Sauce Foyot. We didn't hear any complaints. ;)

I ordered the

IMG_8114.jpg

Citrus Pepper crusted Yellowfin Tuna "a la Nicoise". Fingerling Potatoes, Haricot Verts, Nicoise Olives, Artichokes, Fennel and Tiny Tomatoes, and a rich Vegetable Nage. Not what I would call your ordinary Nicoise Salad, but a very modern version of it. The tuna was top quality and all the flavours worked so well together.

Tom had decided on the

Oak-grilled Oak-grilled Maine Diver Scallops - Artichoke, Fresh and Sun-dried Tomato, Basil, Pecorino Romano and Mascarpone-laced Risotto di Carnarolli, with Proscuitto di Parma Cracklins. Need less to say I needed to have a bite to judge for myself and they were soooooooo good! He cleaned his plate, need I say more? :lmao:

Mary Ellen and Joe decided to have the

Trio of Seasonal House-made Sorbets - with Fresh Plant City Berries, and Vanilla-laced Cookies for dessert. It reminded me very much of various other sorbets. :confused3 ..... sorry, but nothing real special.

Tom surprised me with his choice. He ordered the

IMG_8124.jpg

White Chocolate-Bing Cherry Creme Brulee. Cherry and candied Fennel Compote, Housemade Maraschino Cherries and Anise Biscotti. Very nice creme brulee and everything that came with it, worked so well together and made it a very special dessert.

I had to go for the chocolate dessert! The

Sinful Flourless Dark Chocolate Creation, Fresh Summer Crop Raspberries, Raspberry Coulis, and Riesling and Cherry Gelee with Chocolate Accentuations, which was soooooooo good, but a little too much after all the other food we had had and I was not able to finish it!

Once we were done, we walked over to the International Gateway for EMH at Epcot and our DISmeet with Sophia and Joe and their family!

Hi, Karin! Yum....chocolate and raspberries are a GREAT combo! Everything you had looks great. I think Mark had the crabcake and the scallops when we were there. Everything we had at FF was yummy! Glad you enjoyed your meal there.

That looked soooo yummy! We are eating at FF in May- can't wait!!:thumbsup2

Dessert was good! We were tired of eating by that time - you can tell from my notes! :rotfl2:
We hope to return for FF for the wine tasting menu this summer. :thumbsup2

It's a wonderful restaurant and the food is real nice, you won't be disappointed! ;)

That chocolate dessert from FF is calling my name! That looks amazing!

It was a wonderful ending to our meal. I really enjoyed the chocolate taste together with the raspberries.
