What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Karin - I was wondering, have y'all eaten at every WDW restaurant? I can't think of any you've missed.:thumbsup2

I know what you mean about HBD. It feels funny to have your server dressed in a tuxedo while you're wearing a t-shirt and flip flops! I kind of wish HBD was not in a park.

Sorry you didn't like the Cobb Salad. I really loved it so maybe it was just an off day with too much bacon and blue cheese.

The meal looked great though. I love the presentation of the tuna tartare.

Looking forward to CRT its on our list for August. :)

mmm popcorn, sure we'll use a few snack credits on that. ;)

I hope to be able to update later this week! I need to get this dining review done before I start the next one! :lmao:

We are working hard on getting to this goal, Kat!! :rotfl2:
No, we have not YET eaten at every WDW restaurant, there are still quite a few missing, but we have another 30 days planned in the summer! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

YES, just like you said ........ the server in a tuxedo and I was sitting there in my T-shirt and capris! I felt a bit weird! ;)

I really hope that the salad we experienced is not what it should like. It was way too salty and I eat far too much salt to begin with!
There was a LOAD of blue cheese and very strong and overpowering one, maybe they should have just cut back on it! :confused3

The rest of the meal was really good though ......... and I was so happy with my Silverado wine. That is one wine that is hard to get! :sad2:

Hi Karin,
I love the Brown Derby, I am a huge "I Love Lucy" fan and everytime we eat there I think of Lucille Ball.
They have some of the best Crab Cakes in the park, I think they are an appetizer serving.
And yes I think you can handle another trip report, it is getting close .

I am dying to back to BD, I haven't been there in quite a while- I REALLY want to try the grouper on the menu, it looks amazing to me!!

When I had the salad (and I am a cobb salad lover) my mixologist added too much dressing (for my taste). I think there is alot of artistic freedom with that salad... it's good to get a server who knows how to toss a good one! :thumbsup2

Bubba Gumps looks really good, I really want to try it. We are thinking of maybe going on our first day since we won't be at the park that day.

I love Cobb salad, but I don't like the looks of it all chopped up. Looks likes it has already been eaten! :scared1:

Sory you didn't like the Cobb Salad !!I have yet to try one !!!! Tom's Creme Brulee does look yummy!!! One day on a solo trip I will try tht salad and either the brulee or the grapefruit cake at BD!!

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the Cobb salad. I actually love them, but then again, I am a total blue cheese lover and there can never be too much for me. :lmao: Everything else looked great, too. I would love to dine there some day, but I know what you mean about how you were dressed. I feel like its one of those places where I'd really want to be dressed up.

Updates galore!!! :teeth: Yumma Bubba Gump dinner, shellfish heaven :teeth:

I love that you got a box of KK for the CM's so sweet and thoughtful :)

Love your Brown Derby review, me and DF have decided to give it a go this year and you ordered the dish I am thinking of trying and it looks delish and those desserts :cloud9:

I Love Disney Popcorn!!! Every year, during the Halloween spectacular, my family has to get a tub of popcorn! It's better than the popcorn a the movies!!

Loving the reviews! Thanks for the great information about your trips.

:thumbsup2

FINALLY caught up! Wow 30 days of Disney, that would be awesome but I couldn't even imagine.

I really liked the review of the cruise line. My fiancé and are potentially considering a land/sea honeymoon if we don’t go down south for our wedding.

Thanks for the great review. We went last July/August and I have been meaning to write the review, i have all the pictures and my notes but I haven't gotten around to it yet as I have been super busy but I will!

I'm really enjoying your report! I think I'm a big eater but have never been on the dining plan. Even so, that looks like a lot of food! I like your joie de vivre!

This was our first visit to the Brown Derby. I am sure we will return, but I think then I want to dress "like I belong there". :lmao:
Crab Cakes ....... sounds good! I love them!

As for the next trip report - I guess a trip report AND dining review are in my future! :rotfl:

Tom's tuna was to die for, it might have been too much dressing on the salad, but it was just not mixed right too! Tom didn't have any blue cheese in his (we shared - again! ;)) and it looked like I had the whole lot!

Bubba Gumps looks really good, I really want to try it. We are thinking of maybe going on our first day since we won't be at the park that day.

Bubba Gump is ALWAYS a :thumbsup2 What a fun restaurant and such good seafood!!!!!!!!

I love Cobb salad, but I don't like the looks of it all chopped up. Looks likes it has already been eaten! :scared1:

I thought Cobb salad had to be chopped up. :confused3

Sory you didn't like the Cobb Salad !!I have yet to try one !!!! Tom's Creme Brulee does look yummy!!! One day on a solo trip I will try tht salad and either the brulee or the grapefruit cake at BD!!

You should try it Rosie! I think it was just not mixed right - everything should have been distributed more evenly!
That grapefruit cake somehow doesn't appeal to me ....... maybe because it looks so anemic!
I am VERY picky when it comes to cake - we have such good ones here, so I either go for something TOTALLY different, that we don't get here, like carrot cake or it really has to look yum yum to me! ;)

Tina, I love blue cheese too, but there was just too much of it!
And it would add to the atmosphere if you are actually "better" dressed than your waiter! :rotfl2: And we did know where we were going and even wore nicer clothes, but I still felt out of place!

Updates galore!!! :teeth: Yumma Bubba Gump dinner, shellfish heaven :teeth:

I need to get these updates done soon - only a week until I can offer you "fresher and newer" ones! ;)

We have made it a tradition to get the guards at the resort a little treat - they are really overlooked CMs and they can make your stay so much more special. I just love when we drive up to OKW and they wave at you and greet you with a "Welcome back"! :cloud9:

I Love Disney Popcorn!!! Every year, during the Halloween spectacular, my family has to get a tub of popcorn! It's better than the popcorn a the movies!!

:thumbsup2

Disney (= WDW popcorn) is the very best! They sell sweet popcorn at DLRP and it tastes odd! :sad2:

I am glad you are still reading after all the time it takes me to finish one of my reviews! :goodvibes

Welcome! I am real happy you are here and coming along for the rest of the journey! :flower3:

:woohoo: you're caught up! :yay:
We love our month long vacations! Lots of time to just chill and enjoy!

I am sure you would LOVE a Disney cruise! We only wanted to try it once and here we are going for cruise no 4, 5 and 6 this summer! ;)

I am looking forward to your review! Don't forget to post a link to it when you started it! :thumbsup2

I'm really enjoying your report! I think I'm a big eater but have never been on the dining plan. Even so, that looks like a lot of food! I like your joie de vivre!

We have had the basic DDP for a few years (free dining) now. Last summer we decided to upgrade to the DxDDP and have decided - never again! It was just too much for us during the hot summer months! We were always full and our days revolved around food constantly.
For our February vacation - in a week's time, :dance3:, we don't have a DDP and for our summer vacation we have free DDP for half of it! Fits our vacation needs much better! ;)

I just found your review and have read it all! Thank you so much. I live in Australia which means I'm not sure next time I'll be back at WDW :sad1: However, reading your review makes me feel like I am back there!

Wow! That was a lot to catch up on! You are my hero! :worship:

Living so far away from WDW is a pain isn't it? Every year we are so thankful that we are able to make it back!
Stick with us - once I have finished this review I will have a new one to help us get through WDW withdrawel! ;)

Day 25, September 7

A royal invitation .........

Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table

In the early evening we met with our friends Mary Ellen and Joe again and after spending some time together in the park we headed back to the castle

IMG_7792.jpg

to have dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table!

In the lobby we had to wait for the Royal Princess to arrive, then we had our photo taken with her and finally we were led upstairs.

IMG_7794.jpg

Once we were seated our server, who was very helpful was on hand almost immediatly. We all ordered our drinks and

IMG_7795.jpg

we were served some nice warm rolls with butter. Regular rolls, nothing special.

We all went back to studying the menus.

IMG_7796.jpg

Soon we had decided and our choices were brought to the table.

IMG_7798.jpg

IMG_7797.jpg

Joe had decided on the Soup of the Day, which was Beef and Barley and he enjoyed it a lot!

IMG_7801.jpg

Mary Ellen and Tom had the Rock Shrimp Cocktail - rock shrimp with tomato marmalade and I didn't hear any complaints here either.

IMG_7799.jpg

I actually surprised myself by ordering the Royal Tasting of Cheese - a trio of cheeses with accompaniments, which was commented by the server that at least two of the cheeses were quite good! :rotfl2:

IMG_7802.jpg

There was some kind of hard cheese which came with an assortment of soaked raisins which went pretty well with it! Strong cheese flavour

IMG_7803.jpg

This was a goat's cheese which was mild and creamy and very good - I had it without the blackberries as I don't like them, but it was real good on it's own!

IMG_7805.jpg

The third one was brie with a bit of honeycomb! Oh my god, that was good too! I was really pleasantly surprised! Cindy chooses her cheeses well! :lmao:

IMG_7807.jpg

Mary Ellen and Joe both ordered the Roasted Beef Tenderloin - sliced roasted beef tenderloin with Duchess potatoes, asparagus, and Hollandaise. They cleaned their plates, so I guess that tells it all.

IMG_7809.jpg

Tom had the Duck Confit - duck confit with savory mushroom bread pudding and Hollandaise sauce, which he commented, was very nice!

IMG_7806.jpg

IMG_7810.jpg

My choice of the day was the Braised Cobia - braised on Pomodorro sauce served with vegetables over angel hair pasta. And even though the pasta was a bit difficult to eat without splashing the sauce, it was very good and well seasoned. The tomato sauce had a rich tomato taste and the fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. A very nice dish!

Then it was time to meet Cindy's girlfriends!

Aurora

Miss White

IMG_7817.jpg

and Belle, who was enchanted that there was a book with faces in it! (Facebook! :rotfl2:)

For dessert three of us chose the same thing!

IMG_7815.jpg

Seasonal No Sugar Added Sorbet - with berries, I think it was raspberry! It was light and nice, but not MY dessert! ;)

IMG_7813.jpg

I had the Créme Caramel - caramel topped with vanilla custard. Now, that was much more up my street. Very light with a good caramel flavour! I was told it was NOT an often ordered dessert, but I must say, I would order it again in a heartbeat, but then I just love Creme Caramel!

We paid our bill and left an extra tip for our fun waiter and headed back to the park with our new "toys"! The girls (Mary Ellen and myself had each gotten a star shaped wand, while the boys had gotten a sword!
