What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Before I forget again ............

Since Christmas is just around the corner, Tom has created another foodie Christmas/Advents calendar.
There are 24 little "doors" for every day of the month of December. Click on the corresponding door or one that lies in the past and you will be rewarded with yummy Disney food (photos). :lmao:

Here's the link!

Have lots of fun and a wonderful Christmas time! :santa:

Yummy Tutto review, those desserts look yummy!

Cute towel animals, is always cute when Mousekeeping do little touches like that :)

Wow I'm kind of suprised, Tutto looks pretty good! I haven't heard that many good things about it. That fish looks just like a dish I ate in Roma!

Apart from the "speed eating" we really enjoy Tutto Italia. The food was always really good and did not disappoint this time either.

I just LOVE those little touches Mousekeeping leaves! We always had our towels folded in a cute way, but on that day our Mousekeeper topped herself!

We have always loved Tutto Italia. Only downside is that they have a habit of rushing you through the meal.
The food has always been very good and believe me, we know good real Italian food, with Italy being our neighbour! ;) Funny thing though - we had another reservation for lateron in the trip and gave it up in favour of Via Napoli! :lmao:

Oh, how Tom must know some of us. I clicked on 1 and what appears but a "Must Wait One More Day" :). I just couldn't wait to start the count down. Thank You TOM for taking the time to do this.

Merry Christmas

Great reviews. The cupcake has me drooling and I had one when we were there last February...will have to get another this year! But they are way tooo rich.

We loved Tutto. We had fish, as well, and thought it was excellent. Glad that you had a delicious meal there, too. :goodvibes

cute calendar, I tried but it said what 1 more day...
Thanks for the update:surfweb:

You can't open the calendar because you have to wait until December 1 and do each day of December. :)

Karin, that fish looks much better because it doesn't have an eye looking at me. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Seriously, the food looks awesome. And :worship::worship::worship: to Tom for working on those beers.

I couldn't wait and clicked 1 too! Looking forward to 1 more day so I can see what surprise is waiting!! Thanks Tom! :santa:

Guess we learned the hard way! ;) A few years ago we sent a friend in the US and all her kids some chocolate filled advent's calendars. They are VERY common here and we are used to only opening one door at a time to pass the time until Christmas.
Now, when she received the Calendars a few days before Christmas, she was happy to report that they had eaten all the chocolate right away! :scared1: They didn't think it was worth waiting. :rotfl2:
Well, it was their one and only chocolate filled calendar :lmao:, ever since they got an online one, so that way they cannot "cheat".
Sorry you fell into the same trap!

Maybe I should have stressed it more - it is for the 24 days of December - one door a day - but what's behind the doors is pretty yummy!

I might try another one of the cupcakes in February, well, maybe even two, :lmao: No DDP means more snacking to us!
We always had good meals at Tutto, I just don't like the fact that they really rush you through a meal!

Thanks for helping out with with explaining the calendar. Tom is doing another one (with hat photos) for Mary Ellen and as soon as he has finished it (should still be today :lmao:) I will PM you the link, so you can have some fun with it too!

I think Tom never came across a fish dish he didn't like in all the four weeks we stayed at WDW. But I remember him raving about this one and the one at Kouzzina a lot!

Tom loves his beers - while I don't like them at all! Whenever we go to the US (or Paris) he gets a few old favourites and a few new ones to try! He's getting good at it! ;)

I couldn't wait and clicked 1 too! Looking forward to 1 more day so I can see what surprise is waiting!! Thanks Tom! :santa:

Only one more day and you will be able to open the first door - it's worth the wait - I promise!

Just wait until tomorrow and you will be rewarded!

I knew there was a reason why I posted the link only yesterday! :rotfl2: I'll post reminders every day, so you get a chance to have a look at something yummy every day!

You've been on vacation for a week? Where did you go? Inquisitive minds need to know! ;)

It's a yum cupcake, but HUGE! It defeated me! :sad2: :rolleyes1

We spent the week at Universal ............... Yep, all the way to Orlando and no Disney :scared1:

We are saving ourselves for May 2011

Now that you tell me, didn't you have a ticker saying Universal? I was wondering why no Disney!
Well, I know now and am happy that you have a Disney trip planned too! ;) You need to do a trip report, as I want to know everything about the Dream first hand!

Day 12, August 25

Snack from the Canadian Cart

We needed to "clean out" the fridge, so for breakfast we had some lunch meats and cream cheese. There were still a few snacks around, so we nibbled on those too!

We then made it over to Epcot and strolled around a little and since there was some time left until our lunch reservation we made a stop at the snack cart in Canada.

I had a Diet Coke and used a snack credit for it! Sorry, no photo! :scared1:

Tom got one of these!

A Moosehead beer! He really enjoyed these, even more on a really hot day like it was that day!

Snack Cart .... $ 2,50 (1 snack credit)
TS credits left - 4
CS credits left - 2
Snack credits left 6

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 1091,90

Next up - Lunch at Chefs de France

Still Day 12, August 25

Lunch at Chefs de France

Once we had finished our drinks we went on a mission to help Kim Possible.

We were a little late again, so when we checked in we were seated immediately. This was our first visit to Chefs de France, since we had always been a little worried that the food would not live up to the food in the "real" France.
Once we were seated a waiter came to take our drinks order and boring as we are we ordered what we always have, two Diet Cokes!

We wanted to pay OOP and use our Tables in Wonderland card and very soon our drinks were brought

and with it some really wonderful French baguette and not so yummy butter.

We decided to share a starter.

We shared one of the Les Tarts des Chefs (original flatbreads), the Tarte a la Flamme Alsacienne - Alsace specialty - creme fraiche, onion and bacon. It was really good. Not as good as the original we had tried in France, but a close runner up! We were impressed.

While we were waiting for our main course, this little guy came by!

He did NOT like it when another "friend" appeared at the window! :rotfl2:

A little later our main courses were served!

Tom had ordered the Steak haché Angus, champignons et Bearnaise, salade ou frites - 1/2 lb. Angus hamburger with confit onions, mushroom duxelle, tomatoes, and Bearnaise on on a brioche, salad or french fries. Well, not the most French thing to order, but he was impressed with the quaility of the food. The burger was nice, even though it was cooked just a little too long and the presentation was really awesome. He finished it off, so I guess that says "something"!

IMG_6393.jpg

I had the Crepe Basquaise - large crepe filled with smoked chicken strips, peppers and onions in a white sauce, grilled in the oven. Even though this was not a bad dish I was not really impressed. The filling was really underseasoned and the Crepe was hard and dry. Yes, grilling can do that, but we had similar dishes here in Austria and it never was that dry. Also the presentation with a cherry tomato and rosemary sprig was not very impressive. Wouldn't order it again!

We skipped desserts and had a look at the French Bakery, but believe it or not, NOTHING really caught my eye! :scared1:

I do believe this because a few weeks ago we were in there and nothing "did it" for us either!

Tell Tom thanks alot for the calendar..I love it when you guys do this!

Okay...I clicked the calendar too!:rolleyes1

I can't wait...very excited...I will be checking it everyday until we leave for our trip!! What's it gonna be tomorrow....meal? dessert? drink?

It may be what we ordered there, but Chefs was probably the worst meal of our trip. Glad that it wasn't so horrible for you.

Thanks, I was eager to open the calendar...guess I have to wait tomorrow.
