What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

OHHHHHH!!!!! I HAVE to get one of those chocolate Butterfinger cupcakes!!!:cool1:

Wanna bet I can finish it??? :rotfl:

It is really good, but you need to have a REALLY sweet tooth! :lmao: Let me know if you can finish it ..... I had 3 attempts and threw out the rest - just too much for me! :rotfl2:

Hi Karin catching up on your updates !!First with Kouzzinas !!I also had the Brussel sprouts and they were to die for !!Shared with Jordan, Cherie and D Jay!!
Fairfax Fare has changed their menu and no longer offer the Brisket which I loved !!I had eaten FTB Ribs and found them very dry but I could not miss how moist the FF ones looked and the chicken was moist tender and delish !! I agree the coleslaw wasn't the best but the Baked Beans were good !! I also had the carrot cake which I had trouble opening and there is a photo out there of my valiant effort:rotfl2:

Those Brussel sprouts are just so good - we had them again on our second visit and we finished both orders! :lmao:

We did notice that FF has changed their menu, but we wanted to try it anyway. The pulled pork was really nice, but they should try it on an Austrian Kaiser roll! :cloud9:
Loved the baked beans, such a shame they were only lukewarm.
Now I need to go search for that photo! I have to admit that I might have overlooked it! :scared1: Please forgive me - going back now in search of Rosie's carrot cake photo!
BTW - these plastic containers ARE a pain to open!

No more brisket??:scared1:
Boo! I am afraid to try the pulled pork.
I'm from North Carolina, and we have a different
idea of what pulled pork should be like. I had some
"BBQ" on a cruise once and I was VERY disappointed!

I want to get that Mickey cake for our son. Now, I don't know if I should get it on Saturday when we are walking around to visit the Epcot resorts to see the Christmas decoration (we are staying at the Swan for 2 nights) or wait until we move to CSR when we have our DxDDP we all those snacks credit.
LOVE your updates and that cupcake is giving a sugar rush just looking out :rotfl2:

No, the brisket is definitely gone! :sad2:

I can't help you much on the pulled pork, as I have nothing to compare it with. We don't have anything like it here in Austria and since I love to try new things I went for it. I quite liked it, but ............ as you said, if you have something to compare it with it might be a different cup of tea! ;)

The Mickey cake is just so good!
Will you have a car when you are staying at CSR? If yes, no problem, get it while on the DxDP - we ended up buying LOADS of drinks as we had so many snack credits and were so full all day while on the DxDP!
There are lots of other yummy treats at the Boardwalk Bakery too!

No we will not have a car but planning 2 or 3 days (half days) in Epcot. My son loves taking the boat from Epcot and HS so I thought one of the days we go to Epcot we could stop at Broadwalk.

Oh, I didn't think about the FriendShips! Great idea! And it will be cool enough to transport the cake! Can't do that in the summer! :sad2: That's why I thought of the car! :goodvibes

I tried that carrot cake cookie for the first time on our last trip. All I can say is "YUMMO!".

Okay, I think I am 100 reviews behind somehow.

As for Kouzzina, just seeing that fish on Tom's plate made me :sick:. Eyes looking at me from my food -- not a good thing. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

The cake from the bakery looks wonderful; and I so want to try Fairfax next trip (Rosie had suggested it to us too and we just didn't make it there).

I"m going to have to agree with the fish comment here! :rotfl:

I was driving home tonight and thought, "Gee, I haven't been notified that anything was posted from Karin all weekend." Imagine my surprise when I popped in here and found a whole bunch of updates! Wonder why I only get notifications occasionally, even though I requested daily updates. Hmmm...Oh well....now I will have sweet dreams!!!

Mitch LOVED the butterfinger cupcake. It was one of his favorites the whole trip. I think I'll try the carrot cake cookie on the next trip. I'm not much of a sweets eater, though. Yeah, I know. You've seen my bootie. Hard to imagine.

Hi Karin

I've just got back from a week's vacation so had a lot to catch up on :goodvibes

I must admit your picture of the Butterfinger Cupcake had me drooling :cloud9:

Linda

Oooh lots of yummy cake updates, loving the Mickey one from the BW, looks sooooo good and that carrot cake sandwich cookie, yum!

Disney really do do awesome sweets don't they? :teeth:

That is one yummy cookie, isn't it? And a snack credit! :woohoo: Can't wait to have another one in a little over 80 days! :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Don't worry, being behind reading threads and reports is part of my life! It could be my middle name! :rotfl2:

Oh Kathy, you are such a softy! The fish on Tom's plate is just part of the food chain - big fish eats little fish ......:rotfl2:
We have a friend who is the same way as you are - nothing with eyes on HIS plate either! ;)

We really enjoyed the food at Fairfax Fare - apart from the coleslaw that is! :sad2: You should really try it for yourself!
Can't wait to go back to the Starring Rolls Cafe! Esp. since this time we won't be "stuck" with the DDP and look forward to snacking a lot while at WDW!

I"m going to have to agree with the fish comment here! :rotfl:

:lmao: Maybe we should have placed the napkin over its head while taking the photo! :rotfl2:

Just checking in !!Don't want to miss a Karin update !!!This August Karin I still smell a meet !! Now looks like the 19th thru 27th!! I think that is still good !!Found out FD starts the 19th!! Also will work better for Judy as she only gets 3 weeks vacation sooo will only have to use 6 days !!! Me even with all my Free Trips I will be fine !!! I never seem to be able to use a full 40 hours as I always have to work extra before and after !!!

Tom and I both have the instant notifications and then sometimes I ask him, if he has read this or that and he never got notified - don't know how this works! :confused3
But at least you got some updates! ;)
I LOVED the first bit of the butterfinger cupcake, but then I was a bit stuck - with all the food on the DDP I never seemed to crave it, so about half of it got thrown out! :sad2:

But that carrot cake cookie was SOOOOOOOOO good! I cannot wait to get another one in 2 months and 3 weeks! ;) Not that I am counting down or anything! :rotfl2:

You've been on vacation for a week? Where did you go? Inquisitive minds need to know! ;)

It's a yum cupcake, but HUGE! It defeated me! :sad2: :rolleyes1

There are too many yummy sweets at WDW! So much food, so little time! :rotfl:
You have to try the little Mickey cake once - it is soooo good and the carrot cake cookie is a keeper! Hope they can hear me! :lmao:

Hi Rosie!

I REALLY hope we can meet this summer Rosie! We leave on the 21st for our triple Dream cruise, so that would still leave the 19th and 20th for a meet! I'll keep my fingers crossed :wizard:!
Do you mean Judy gets only 3 weeks vacation ALL year round? :scared1: I hope not - that sounds FAR too little vacation time! :sad2:

And I am happy you will be fine with fitting in another trip! It's so nice you get all those free trips - well, you still have to work, so they are not completely free, are they? ;)

Karin I get 4 weeks a year but also PTO(Paid Time OFF) which is another week !! Plus I can flex my schedule so I don't have to use a full week for a week off !! I still have 5 weeks left to carry over to next year and I took 4 vacations !!!
Poor Judy only gets 3 weeks !!! Plus a few personal days !!Believe it or not that is GOOD for the states !! Mine is extraordinary GOOD!!!

Thanks for explaining that for me!

Wow! Three weeks is not a lot! Here most people get 5 weeks off, some companies give 6 weeks if you belong to the same company for a certain time. Tom is one of them - he gets 6 weeks off, otherwise we could not stay at WDW for 4 weeks in a row.
I guess living here in Austria is not so bad after all! ;) Lots of vacation time and yummo food - could do without the snow though! :rotfl2:

I am glad you get your 4 weeks off! You deserve it! And even better that you have some time to carry over to the next year! And the thing I really envy you is that you are free to plan your vacations whenever you want. Being stuck with our school schedule is not so much fun! No Food and Wine, no Flower and Garden - and I had to take unpaid leave for our one and only Christmas trip!

Still Day 11, August 24

Dinner at Tutto Italia

We went back to our villa and this is what was waiting for us ..............

Our ever so skilled Mousekeeper had left an array of towel animals and other creations in our villa! Bless her - we loved what she left in our rooms.

We spent the afternoon lounging around the villa - Tom got in the jacuzzi, while I did some more packing and laundry. Staying for 10 days and doing some shopping we had quite a bit of luggage to get ready for cruising.

By late afternoon we went to Epcot for our dinner at Tutto Italia.

We were about 10 minutes late and were seated immediately once we had checked in. A server was right on hand to take our drinks orders, two Diet Cokes, please!

IMG_6315.jpg

Another server brought out the Verdure, Olive "Giardiniera" e Ricotto con Basilico, pickled veggies, Olives and Ricotta with basil. We really love the antipasti!

IMG_6313.jpg

And there was the breadbasket as well, the Pane De Casa -

IMG_6317.jpg

with Tuscan olive oil - herb and parmesan grissini breadsticks. We started nibbling away when our server came with the drinks and took our entree orders. They came out real quick.

IMG_6320.jpg

IMG_6321.jpg

Tom had the Filetto Di Pesce "All Acqua Pazza" - white wine poached fish filet, oven roasted tomato, clams, garlic, capers, olives, which he enjoyed very much. The fish was cooked perfectly, flakey and moist and went wonderfully with the rest of the ingredients. Tom didn't send anything back - he loved it.

IMG_6318.jpg

I felt the need to try the Tortelli Di Vitello Al "Chianti" - veal and Chianti ravioli, parmesan cheese, sage butter, roasted tomato. Boy, this was GOOD!!!! The pasta was thin and the filling tasty and light. The sage butter and roasted tomato were perfect to enhance the flavour. And those "few" ravioli were more than enough to really fill me up.

Yes, we were on the DDP and we needed to try dessert! :rotfl2:

IMG_6327.jpg

IMG_6326.jpg

Tom ordered the Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce, which I had recommended. The ice cream is light and delicate and goes perfectly well with the fresh, slightly frozen berries and the chocolate sauce. A true taste of Italy.

IMG_6323.jpg

IMG_6324.jpg

I had a "Chef's recommendation" dessert trio. The little chocolate cup was holding kind of a Tiramisu. Not your regular one, more like a very creamy version. The Cannoli in the middle was a bit tough. It still tasted nice, but I would have preferred it, if it would have been crisper. Nevertheless it went well with the heavely strawberries, which had a very light vanilla fragrance. The third part was a tasting portion of the Gianduja - Chocolate Torta - chocolate and hazelnut torte. It was nice, but a bit on the heavy side.

We settled the bill and were in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour! :scared1: Now, that is what we call "speed-eating". :lmao:

Later that evening Tom had the task of "getting rid" of some of the beers he had wanted to taste.

He did a very good job!
