What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Still August 15

Dinner at The Wave

Now, where did we leave off?

We left Via Napoli stuffed and happy and slowly went back to the car. It was our very first full day at WDW and there were EMH at the MK until 2am so we needed some rest time.

When we made it into the room we were greeted by a gift from our friends Stefy and Dave.

We were stunned and happy. What a wonderful surprise.

The afternoon was spent lounging in front of the TV and nibbling on a few snacks.

When we found out that the Main Street Electrical Parade was coming back and that its run was extended we changed our ADR at The Wave so we could watch the parade. So by 6.45 we arrived at The Wave for our dinner ADR. We were handed a buzzer, walked over to the lounge area and as soon as we had sat down the buzzer went off. Even the host was laughing at how fast our table had been asigned.
We were seated towards the middle of the busy restaurant and soon to be greeted by our server, who took our drinks order of two Diet Cokes.
Since we were not real hungry after all the food we had indulged on all day we decided against ordering an appetizer.

IMG_5496-1.jpg

Right after she had served the drinks, our server brought out the multi grain bread. We love this bread, it is a more dense bread with a good crust.

IMG_5495-1.jpg

The bread is served with butter sprinkled with sea salt. Even though we love the bread and butter we both only had one slice, not to fill up too much.

IMG_5501-1.jpg

Tom ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin - port wine jus, potato and onion gratin and summer ratatouille. It was as good as it sounds. The tenderloin was cooked to a perfect medium and melted in your mouth, the gratin was silky and smooth and went real well with the jus. The ratatouille was slightly underseasoned for my taste, but Tom liked it the way it was.

IMG_5502-1.jpg

I was looking for something a little lighter so I ordered the Apple Brined Pork Tenderloin - with Bourbon Sweet Mashed potatoes, warm spinach-bacon salad and Sassafras Jus. Okay ......... it was devine! The tenderloin was soft and melt in your mouth with a slightly pink center. The Bourbon Sweet Mashed pototoes were to die for - even feeling full I could have gone on and on and on eating them. A real winner was the warm spinach-bacon salad. :cloud9: The crispy fried salty bacon, mixed together with soft crisp leaves of spinach, tossed in a very light vinaigrette, YUMMY!!!

At that point we were pretty full, but the desserts at The Wave are too good to pass them up.

IMG_5513-1.jpg

Tom really wanted something light, so he ordered ........

IMG_5507-1.jpg

the Freshly Crafted Sorbets - Lemon-basil, Pineapple and Strawberry Sorbets.

IMG_5504-1.jpg

Strawberry sorbet, with a strong strawberry flavour - very nice

IMG_5505-1.jpg

Pineapple sorbet - not as sweet as the strawberry and very refreshing

IMG_5506-1.jpg

Lemon-basil sorbet - I was intrigued about the combination, but it worked surprisingly well and was the most refreshing one of the three.

IMG_5512-1.jpg

I went for my all time favourite, the Creamy Indulgence - Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, Coconut Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Drizzle, Chocolate-Passion Fruit Mousse with Pecan-Olive Brittle.

IMG_5511-1.jpg

Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis - just the right size of a silky smooth cheesecake. The raspberry coulis has just the ride sharpness to cut the sweetness of the cake.

IMG_5510-1.jpg

Coconut Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Drizzle. I am not all that keen on Passion fruit but I have to admit that combined with the coconut panna cotta it really works and makes for a real enjoyable dessert.

IMG_5509-1.jpg

Chocolate-Passion Fruit Mousse with Pecan-Olive Brittle, there is nothing you can say against chocolate mousse and the small piece of brittle is just so good.

Once we had finished our meal we paid the bill, then walked over to the Magic Kingdom and watched both runs of the

for that day and

Wishes.
Once we had enjoyed the parades and fireworks we started hitting the rides.

I'm drolling over those amazing yummy pictures. Thanks for a wonderful update. Too bad I couldn't fit The Wave for our next trip.

I loved the Wave the one time I ate there. I was going to eat there again this trip, but I never did.

We usually dine at The Wave on our first full day at WDW. It has become kind of a tradition and we really love it.

Holy Moly!!! I'm looking forward to coming back and reading the reviews as they are completed. Hope you had a wonderful 30 days of bliss!

:welcome:
How nice to have you here!
We had a wonderful time on board the Wonder and while staying at OKW. And we have lots more reviews and photos to post here! :goodvibes

I know, there are just too many restaurants and too little vacation time. But The Wave is really worth trying! :thumbsup2

Wow thank you for the review. I have never wanted to eat at The Wave before based on the menu but your Pork dish looks GREAT!

:welcome:
I saw that you are doing a Disney cruise next summer - what cruise are you on? We are doing three back to back next summer and it looks like we might be on the same one! :goodvibes

We are on the 25th August cruise and I have joined the cruise thread you started. We are very excited about it :yay:!

Thanks for the update and the wonderful pictures. You're making me hungry!popcorn::

I am glad you liked the update! I must do something right if it makes you hungry! ;) :goodvibes

You know, when they first opened and we read the menu we thought that we would give it a chance once and cross it off the list. But no, The Wave impressed with food and service. It has become one of our "must does" every trip!

I am SO sorry I did not realize right away! I just looked at your ticker and thought that your dates must be the same as ours!

Can't wait to cruise with you! :yay:

Hi Karin :wave2:

I have just driven into work listening to the DIS Unplugged Podcast and Kevin was doing a review of the Wave (he even had the same entree and dessert as you)

You must listen to it - very funny :rotfl:

He didn't like The Wave at all so it just goes to show how a restaurant can be so different on different nights

Have a great day :goodvibes

Hi Linda :goodvibes

I just listened to the Podcast and can only tell you that our experience was totally different.
Didn't notice the "beige" - as we were there to eat, not discuss the lightbulbs. :lmao:
We both had more than plenty of food - those plates were FULL and the thing I don't get is ........ why not complain there and then if you don't like it and send it back? :confused3 Done that ever so often.

All I can add is that we have always loved the food and that we really enjoyed it. But then ....... everyones tastebuds are different, thank god! :goodvibes
Because there are some DIS favourites that give ME the chills - Rosa Regale comes to mind, makes me  yuck!

But thanks for reminding me that I had to listen to that Podcast! :goodvibes

And still August 15

A drink at Cosmic Ray's

So we enjoyed the sounds and smells of the Magic Kingdom for quite some time, rode quite a few rides until the heat and the time change got to us. So we headed over to Cosmic Ray's for some drinks.

All I wanted was a Diet Coke

IMG_5642.jpg

and Tom went for an Iced Cappuccino. What can I say about it - Disney coffee, with ice cubes in it. It was a cold drink, and that is what we both wanted.

We left the park at around 1pm.

Next up - lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express

Day 3, August 16

Lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express

Since we had gotten in rather late in the morning, we slept in, then kept hanging around our villa until it was finally time for us to eat again! :lmao:

We had decided to throw our plans over board and decided on a shopping day.
So we first drove over to Downtown Disney for lunch at our favourite CS spot, Wolfgang Puck's Express.

We got there right after they changed over the menu to lunch and started ordering. The CM taking our order remembered us from previous visits!!!!!!!! :scared1: Yikes, do we really eat there that often, that even the staff remembers us???? :rotfl:

We picked up our drinks, Diet Cokes, put the number on the table and talked about where we wanted to go and drive today when the server, Maritsa came over to welcome us back! :scared1: TWO CMs remembered us ....... :rolleyes1

After a little chat she went to pick up our food.

IMG_5646.jpg

IMG_5647.jpg

This is my favourite WPE pizza - the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza - mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and goat cheese. The crust is thin and very crisp and the cheese blend is just right and I LOVE the goats cheese on the fresh tomato slices. Such a great pizza - I used to be able to finish one ........ no longer - the pizzas have grown in size and defeat me every time! :lmao:

IMG_5649.jpg

IMG_5650.jpg

Tom had ordered the Barbecued Chicken Pizza - tender chunks of chicken, grilled red onion, cilantro and smokey barbecue sauce. This is still as good as it was when I first had it a few years ago. It is a bit on the spicy side, but not too hot. :thumbsup2

We both tried our hardest to finish our pizzas but we had to save some room for dessert.

IMG_5653.jpg

Their famous Creme Brulee.

IMG_5654.jpg

Tom and I just love this Creme Brulee, it is so silky and smooth and not overly sweet like some other Disney Creme Brulees. These had a perfect sugar crust and the strawberry on top was juicy and ripe - food :cloud9:

Now that we were full and happy we were ready to conquer shopping.

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
WPE .... $ 41,90 (2 credits)

Next up - another late lunch at Artist's Palette

I had the same pizza at WPE and couldn't finish it either. My favorite part was the tomato with the goat cheese. You can't get much more yummy then that.

:thumbsup2 I actually picked off and ate the tomato with the goat cheese of the pieces I wasn't able to eat!

That pesto pizza at WPE looks soooo good! I love their BBQ chicken pizza but might be getting this one instead next time.

I stole a bite of Tom's BBQ chicken pizza, because I love that taste too, but the pesto pizza is just devine. You should definitely give it a try! :goodvibes
