What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Thanks for the review of Yak and Yeti... we love that place. I want to try making that drink -- the purple one... a store near us sells purple colored grape vodka (sky or 3 olives brand, something like that).

I'd like to try different dishes at Yak and Yeti so I might have to get that Maple Tamarind chicken... but I know I'll have to get the Malaysian seafood curry again.. so that means 2 trips to Yak and Yeti next time to WDW! That way I can try more dishes.

My Yak and Yeti review from Dec. 2010

Yummy Yak and Yeti meal, those fried green beans look delish and that cocktail looks and sounds yummy, is it sweet?

Sure, when I am already having ADR dilemma's, you go and post a review of Yak & Yeti which we love and haven't been to since 2008. Now, where the heck am I going to fit that in. Mark had the duck like Tom and Loved it.

I love Yak N Yeti, especially those Fried Green Beans!

The chicken dish looks good, I might have to try that next time.

Yum!! Those green beans look delish! Kingfisher is a GREAT Indian beer-- glad Tom liked it!

We are going the evening of the 23rd. Its my mom's actual birthday! :cool1: I'm sure we'll have a wonderful meal and then watch the fireworks from the observation deck at the end of our meal. Our timing should be just about perfect, as we have an ADR for 5:50.

Yak and Yeti looks so good! I don't know if we'll ever try it, though, as it seems not to fit in with our plans ever. Oh well... Someday... There's always the next trip and the trip after that....and the trip after that! :rotfl:

I did read the date for your CG ADR in your planning finally. I have been kind of busy :rotfl2: last week and I did not have much time to read and update. :sad2:

We love Yak & Yeti. We go nearly every year and have tried a lot of their food, but never the green beans! They were so good!
One of those next few trips you will have to fit it in! :thumbsup2

Yak and Yeti looks very good:goodvibes

It was YUMMY!! :thumbsup2

Wow Yak & Yeti looks great ............. and that dessert..... wow :cloud9:

If only all fruit and vegatables could be fried in batter

Oh, that would be it! All fruit and veggies fried in batter! :rotfl2:
You really have to try Y&Y one day, Linda. The food (and drinks) are really nice!

great update on Yak and Yeti. We tried it last month and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised it was really good food. The only thing is I loved the mangoe pie rather than the fried wonton dessert.
Thanks for sharing

I am not a huge fan of Mango, so that wasn't an option. Tom has had it before and while it was a good consistancy - I didn't like the Mango taste! :lmao:
But Y&Y is one of the restaurants we have always had good food and only one rather mediocre service!

I just knew your Yak & Yeti review was going to get my mouth watering again....and it did! Those wings looks awesome. And that duck! Oh my, I'd LOVE to try that duck sometime.

Glad I could help, Dave! :rotfl2: Even only to make you hungry! :rotfl: It's really a restaurant to recommend! The duck was really nice - Tom loved it! You would too!!!!!!!!

Hi, Ive been keeping up with your updates, theyre fab as always. :goodvibes
Not long until I can make my ADR's :cool1:
shame my husband and son are only really interested in buffets. I really want to try yak & yeti, I could always go solo :rotfl2:

Thanks for reading along! And thanks for your kind words!
We don't have long until we can make ADRs too! 24 days to be precise! Can't wait!! Isn't planning and booking the ADRs so much fun?
I guess I am not a huge help with the buffets as Tom and I don't really like them. There is a thing about serving myself when on vacation! :rotfl2: But I am sure there are some real good ones out there.

My Yak and Yeti review from Dec. 2010

We love Y&Y too! :goodvibes Let me know how your drink turned out! :thumbsup2

Tom and I have tried a few menu items at Y&Y and I was really impressed with the Maple Tamarind Chicken! Very moist and flavourful!

Yummy Yak and Yeti meal, those fried green beans look delish and that cocktail looks and sounds yummy, is it sweet?

Yummy veg and yummy drink - what else do you want on vacation.

And yes, it was a bit on the sweet side, but I really liked that! :thumbsup2

Sorry to add to your ADR dilemma! I posted over on your thread with a few of my ideas in hopes that I could "help"! :lmao:

I love Yak N Yeti, especially those Fried Green Beans!

The chicken dish looks good, I might have to try that next time.

The chicken was really good, succulent and moist and so much flavour! And I am definitely getting those green beans again! :cloud9:

Yum!! Those green beans look delish! Kingfisher is a GREAT Indian beer-- glad Tom liked it!

The green beans WERE delish!! I am definitely going to order them again. Tom tried a few beers from around the world and the Kingfisher was one he enjoyed a lot!

Day 21, September 3

A snack from the Safari Eggroll stand

After our lunch we went on safari and did the Jungle Trek and we still held a few FPs for Everest.

On our way over to Everest we stopped

IMG_7399.jpg

at the Eggroll stand and got a Pork and Shrimp Egg Roll. We had to wait a minute since the CM was just making them fresh!
Nice snack to share!

IMG_7397.jpg

Got a Coke too! AK is always sooo hot!

We had Free Disney Dining Plan which we had upgraded to the DxDDP. We booked through the British Disney Travel company and the cost for nine nights and 2 people was ....... 270 British Pounds = 420 $

So, we paid 420$ (difference between DDP and DxDDP) for 9 days of DxDDP! ;)

How much did we actually cost Disney?
54 dining credits
36 snack credits
Yak & Yeti ...... 83,90 (2 DC ......... 46 DC remain)
2 Refillable Mugs ...... 29,80
AK snack stand ...... 4,80 (2 snack credits ......... 30 snack credits remain)
Cost altogether ..... 370,20 $

420$ - 370,20 $ = 49,80 $

Next up - Dinner at Kouzzina

Day 21, September 3

Dinner at Kouzzina

IMG_7443.jpg

After spending most of the day at the AK we went back to OKW to relax for a while before we went over to the Boardwalk, to Kouzzina for dinner.

IMG_7451.jpg

We started off the feast with a pitcher of Sangria.

IMG_7454.jpg

After we had ordered appetizers our server brought some
bread. I would say this is more of a European kind of bread, not as soft as the US variety.

IMG_7455.jpg

It was served with butter with sea salt.

IMG_7450.jpg

Tom had Spiro's Greek Salad - Vine-ripened Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Red Onions, Kalamata Olives, and Feta. Very fragrant tomatoes, and slightly salty Feta.

IMG_7449.jpg

I had the Traditional Phyllo Pie - (Spanakopita) Spinach, Feta, Leeks, and Dill. I really enjoyed this - crisp Phyllo with a yummy stuffing! :thumbsup2

IMG_7457.jpg

I went for one of my favourite dishes from the sampler. The Greek-style Lasagna - with Bucatini Pasta, Cinnamon-stewed Meat Sauce, and Bechamel (Pastitsio). This was sooooooo good. I wished I would have been more hungry so I could have eaten more. I had to give up after about 2/3s of it!

IMG_7458.jpg

Tom had the Fisherman’s Stew - Scallops, seasonal Fish, Shellfish, Fennel, Grilled Bread, and Ouzo Butter, which he enjoyed very much.

IMG_7459.jpg

Since we had liked the Sautéed Brussels Sprouts - with Capers and Lemon so much, we ordered another helping of that too! :goodvibes

IMG_7463.jpg

No problem what I wanted for dessert! The Loukoumades - Freshly Made Greek Doughnuts drizzled with Warm Honey, which I love and which are so good!

IMG_7460.jpg

Tom was full and didn't really know what to order, but then he decided on trying the Greek Cookies - A selection of Cora family favorites and some iced coffee. He really enjoyed the coffee, the cookies were a bit on the dry side!

After paying our bill we went over to Epcot to enjoy the rest of the evening.

This was our third meal at Kouzzina and we really enjoyed it every time we were there. I just love those brussel sprouts - they are so good. I need to have a look at Cat Cora's cookbooks - maybe we can find the recipe for it in one - would make a nice souvenir! :goodvibes

I love Brussell Sprouts but most people seem to really dislike them

:woohoo: another brussel sprouts lover! Tom and I really enjoy them and the ones at Kouzzina are really good!

Those egg rolls in AK are the best dang use of a snack credit, ever, IMHO. Those and the napoleons at the bakery in France at EPCOT. Yum...

Kouzina looks so good. I would love to try it. I love Sangria. One of the few alchoholic beverages I have a hard time turning down (Freshly made Bellinis and Mojitos being the other two...oh, and perhaps the Grand Marnier slushie! :lmao:). Your appetizer looks delicious and was just what I would order. I love Spanikopita. And your dish looks delish, as well!

Someday we'll try it, when we're spending less time at character meals and stop going to some places chiefly for their entertainment value. :thumbsup2 Another great update, Karin.

We're finally going to try Kouzzina for the first time in May. Really looking forward to it!:thumbsup2

Great food reports! subbing, thank you!

Welcome! How nice that you joined us! :goodvibes

We have never tried the egg rolls, but we had just too many snack credits to burn, wo we thought why not! And they were really good!

We really love Kouzzina - I just loved that Greek Lasagna - it was so tasty! :thumbsup2
That's the wonderful thing if you spend a whole month in Florida - you have time to stop and smell the roses. And we have done the rides over and over and as much as I love doing them again and again - there is no need to push it! ;)

We're finally going to try Kouzzina for the first time in May. Really looking forward to it!:thumbsup2

You are going to really love it ........ bring a healthy appetite! ;) There is so much to try. :thumbsup2

Day 22, September 4

Lunch at Kona Cafe

We slept in a little, had a breakfast out of the fridge and around 11.30 went over to the Polynesian for lunch at the Kona Cafe.

IMG_7494.jpg

IMG_7495.jpg

I ordered the Lump Crab Cakes - with Asian Tartar Sauce and Pineapple Relish. These were really very good, we both liked the tartar sauce and the relish was very refreshing.

IMG_7498.jpg

Tom ordered the Kona Salad - Mixed Greens, Blue Cheese, fresh Fruit, Red Onions, and Smoked Almonds with Citrus Vinaigrette. I didn't try it as I had ordered a salad for my main course, but Tom liked it very much. He wasn't able to finish it, had to leave some room for his entree!

IMG_7501.jpg

IMG_7502.jpg

Tom chose the Kona Club Sandwich - served with Asian Vegetable Slaw. This was huge!! There was loads of lunch meat in the sandwich and they were really tasty - just too much to finish!

IMG_7499.jpg

IMG_7500.jpg

I had chosen the Beef Teriyaki Salad - mixed greens, vegetables tossed with Asian vinaigrette and grilled beef in a taco shell. Again a HUGE helping, lots of greens, veggies and beef. I ate and ate and ate and barely made a dent in it! My only complaint - the vinaigrette could have been a bit more spicy! It was very light and there could have been a bit more of it. No, I didn't ask for more! :lmao:

We were stuffed after our starters and entrees, but as always, I cannot say NO to dessert. Poor Tom had to get one too!

IMG_7508.jpg

I chose the Chocolate Fondue, which came with fruit and cookies and was very good. What's not to like about fruit and chocolate.

IMG_7505.jpg

IMG_7506.jpg

IMG_7513.jpg

And finally we got to try this little beauty! The Kona Kone! I ended up having most of it, as Tom was too full, but I have to say that the ice cream was really nice and I loved the cotton candy! I guess the last time I had had some was way back when I was still a kid! ;) :rotfl2:

420$ - 527,50 $ = 107,50 $

Next up - Beaches and Cream snack
