What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

I love those rum cakes- although I've only ever had the ones made in the Caribbean, I think. Can't wait to see how you spend your day!!!

A day that was started with a rum cake breakfast can only be a good day! :lmao:
Believe it or not, but we hadn't even heard of rum cakes before our first cruise, and then we didn't try them. So this cruise I was determined to try one and we really liked them. Went right back and bought a variety pack!

Ooooh....that rum cake has me drooling. I haven't had anything since 8 this morning as I've been too busy at work to go and get lunch. I best get home for dinner and have something to eat, I guess.

Hope you had a decent dinner yesterday, Kathy! I wish there would be a way to send food via internet! ;)
Hey, and there is something else ........ I talked to Jayme, the Native Speaker today and I told him that I have a friend who lives in the Chicago Area as well. He than asked where and I told him, so guess what, he seems to be a neighbour, he grew up in Wheaton! :lmao: (did I spell that correctly?)

This food report and the pictures are great!

Thank you! :flower3: I am glad you enjoy it!

Mmm, rum cake! Looks smack yummy.

I wish I could send you one to have on your way to Russia. Have a safe journey, tomorrow, Dave! Hope everything can be arranged and that you can take home her sweet little girl real soon!

Now I don't drink alcohol BUT I do on occasions eat it !!:rotfl2:Such as in Sherry Trifle and Rum Cake !!!

No matter how you look at it, a little rum cake doesn't hurt anyone! :lmao: :thumbsup2 If you go on that free cruise, Rosie, you need to walk into Nassau and get some of that cake. Yummy!!!!!

Look at all that deliciously wonderful food, looks soooo good! Everytime I read your reviews on the cruises I feel a slight pang and excitement for next year :teeth:

Cool that you met a fellow Diser on the trip and that you got along great.

Ahh those rum cakes look sooooo good, I know where our first point of call will be in Nassau

Hope your box arrives soon, will be a week tomorrow and I am kinda regretting not sending it tracked :sad1:

I am glad I can get your excitement about cruising going ........ you're going to love it!

Meeting Teresa (Teri1) and her husband was the icing on the cake. They are such nice people and to be seated at the same table was just incredible.

I'll let you know as soon as the parcel arrives, Stefy, even though I think I might keep it for Christmas to open, if you don't mind. :goodvibes Since our big present will be the trip in February (and that is hard to wrap up for Christmas) I'm gonna keep everything that comes in to open on Christmas Eve.

Oooh Karin the Rum Cake looks delicious :cool1:

You need to try it when you anchor in Nassau, Linda! It is really nice - lots of different flavours too!

I don't remember what I had for dinner. :lmao::lmao:

Yes, Jayme is a neighbor...Wheaton is the next suburb over from me. What a small world. :goodvibes

Karin and Tom...sorry I have been MIA but Xmas is making me into a fruitcake :lmao:

All I can say is

In my next life I am coming back as Karin & Tom!

Love you guys!

Thank you! :goodvibes

 Thank you! I'll let you know as soon as it arrives. It did not arrive today, so the next chance is Monday - no mail on Saturday! ;)

Thank god it's Friday evening! Even though Native Speaker week was fun - it was really hard work too!
And guess what, John, another "Native" comes from a village that is a neighbour to my Aunt - it IS a small world after all! ;)

So, does that mean, you want to live on the other side of the world and sit on a plane for 12 hours to visit WDW? :rotfl2:

As much as I love Christmas, it is such a hectic time and I wasn't able to update as much as I would have loved to, but I will do my best to catch up over the weekend! ;)

Okay, I tried to update this yesterday, but right when I only had about 3 more photos to fit in, photobucket froze and then shut down the Internet Explorer. Sorry, but I just wasn't "in the mood" to start over again, so ......................... let's try it again!

Still Day 17, August 30

Disney Wonder - lunch at Triton's

After walking into Nassau to pick up a few things we got back on the Wonder for lunch and went to Triton's, where we were seated immediately.

We ordered Diet Cokes

IMG_6894.jpg

and our server brought out a basket full of bread. We tried a little while we studied the menu and finally ordered our meal.

IMG_6896.jpg

Tom had the Vegetable Quesquadillas, served with guacamole, sour cream and Pico de Gallo. They were very good and quite a good size serving for a starter!

IMG_6895.jpg

I ordered the Ginger Infused Carrot Soup with Yoghurt. Just an ever so slight hint of Ginger, not overpowering the carrot flavour. Very good soup - I would order it again.

IMG_6900.jpg

IMG_6901.jpg

Tom ordered the Angus Chuck Burger. Grilled 1/2 lb burger with lettuce, tomato and onions served with coleslaw and French Fries. He really enjoyed it, he cleaned his plate.

Needless to say he asked for some ketchup and this is what he got .........

IMG_6898.jpg

Mickey Ketchup!! :lmao:

IMG_6899.jpg

IMG_6902.jpg

I had the Turkey Melt Sandwich. Thinly sliced roast turkey breast, Thousand Island Dressing and Melted Cheddar Cheese, served with Chips and Coleslaw. Plenty of turkey and gooey cheese on this lightly toasted sandwich! It was really good. The chips were your standard chips, but the sandwich was really good, only downside, there was FAR too much of it! ;)

BTW, we loved the menu!

IMG_6910.jpg

IMG_6912.jpg

IMG_6913.jpg

We ordered Espresso with our desserts and they were really good. Lots of crema and nice and hot!

IMG_6919.jpg

Tom had the Hot Chocolate Fudge Pudding with Vanilla Sauce. :cloud9:

IMG_6916.jpg

I had the Key Lime Pie. Lime Custard on Graham Cracker crust and a Meringue Topping. Now, this was right up my street, tart lime custard and sweet meringue - a marriage made in heaven!

IMG_6914.jpg

Next up - Disney Wonder - snacks from Goofy's Galley and Pinocchio's Pizzeria

I want MICKEY KETCHUP!!!!!!!!!

I like how you made a Mickey out of the coffee, sugar, etc.

Your Turkey melt looks wonderful...I'm drooling yet again.

:thumbsup2 Mickey ketchup is the best!

I could use a turkey melt right now too! ;) Thank god the weekend has started! And only 3 more workdays until my Christmas holiday! :cloud9: :woohoo:

Karin I am enjoying your review of the cruise so much and the pictures are great. It is good to see Tom's smiling face again.:earsboy: Tell him we said hello and have a Merry Christmas! I have the weekend off, but it is unseasonably cold here in Ohio, we are freezing, and we have snow.

I wish I could send you one to have on your way to Russia. Have a safe journey, tomorrow, Dave! Hope everything can be arranged and that you can take home her sweet little girl real soon!

Thank you Karin! I will look forward to catching up on your trip report when I return home.

And by the way...I went to have lunch today at WPE here near my home, and it's out of business!!! :scared1::sad2::guilty::sick:pirate:

What a sad, sad day....I have to go back to DTD for my fill.

I just got a new digital camera and found out it has a food setting!!! Looking forward to trying it out!

Oh boy I wish I was on a Disney Cruise right now. The snow has just started to fall here and some Bahamas sunshine and key lime pie sounds wonderful :)

It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy reliving our wonderful adventures on the wonderful Disney Wonder! How am I doing trying to imitate Cruise director Christiaan?
It is very cold here too, I can't remember any of the last years being THAT cold and having that much snow! So, you are not alone freezing! ;)

Please, tell Mickey we said hello!

Thank you Karin! I will look forward to catching up on your trip report when I return home.

They closed your WPE??? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, on the other hand ......... there's another reason to go back to WDW!
To introduce the newest member of your family to WDW and to get your WPE fill!!! ;)

Hope everything goes well and that little Claire is with her new family in no time! :thumbsup2

Great pix Karin!!! The Food looked delish !!! That Hamburger is my favorite !!!

Thank you! I hope you get to experience it VERY soon for yourself! Congrats on booking your August trip!
Can't wait to meet you in person!

Me too, Linda! What would we do for a little bit of that WARM Florida sunshine! It is SO cold here and we've got SO much snow too! :scared1:
But then in only 9 weeks we will be at WDW! :cloud9:

Still Day 17, August 30

Disney Wonder - more snacks from Goofy's Galley

After lunch we headed back to our Stateroom to chill for a while. Tom tried the beer he had bought in Nassau

IMG_6924.jpg

and by early afternoon we left the ship and walked into Nassau again for a little more shopping

IMG_6937.jpg

and something else to try .......

IMG_6939.jpg

another beer he wanted to try. His verdict ........ he's had a better one!

We had a late dinner at Palo's planned, so when we got back to the ship we got some snacks from Goofy's Galley.

We got a plate to share.

IMG_6940.jpg

IMG_6942.jpg

A grilled ham, cheese and tomato sandwich. Nothing spectacular, but it was nice and hot, with gooey cheese. We both liked it.

IMG_6943.jpg

Chicken Caesar wrap. Now these were our absolute favourite. Crisp romaine lettuce lightly dressed with caesar dressing and lots of chunks of moist grilled chicken! :cloud9: They were soooooo good!

IMG_6944.jpg

Lamb and Couscous wrap. These were not bad, but not really what I had expected. The pieces of lamb were cold, like icy - cold and quite chewy. The couscous didn't have much flavour and the wrap was kind of dry. We both agreed, that it was our least favourite.

Next up - Disney Wonder - dinner at Palo

My husband and I love those rum cakes. We used to go to Altantis 2 times a year and I would buy the rum cakes for my co-workers (but it never made it to them b/c my husband I would eat it before:rotfl2:).
Thanks for the update. I was going to write a short food report but with Holiday shopping, getting Chrismtas cards out and helping out with my son school holiday stuff I haven't had time to disboard.

The First of my Christmas Greetings !!

We still have some rum cakes saved for Christmas! ;) :rotfl2: Wanna come over and share some with us? ;)

I know how it feels, squeezing in time for updates before Christmas! Fortunately I have tomorrow off, then 2 more days of school and then 17 days of Christmas holiday! :woohoo:
Maybe you'll find time for your review after Christmas. I would love to read it! :thumbsup2
