What did I do wrong?

I ironed my transfer, but it is blotchy in some spots and the color ran a little. The background is black, so I don't konw if that has anything to do with it or not. I think I probably just ironed it too long, but I'd like to know for sure before I try another one.

Is the t-shirt completely ruined? I tried peeling off as much of the transfer as possible, but didn't get real far. Can I put another transfer on top of this one? I know it will be more stiff, but I didn't know if it would work anyways.
