What desserts will you have at Thanksgiving?

My parents just arrived and mom and I went over the menu. We're having :

Fruit salad, a cranberry pecan coffee cake, pumpkin pie, chocolate cherry trifle, blueberry cheesecake pie (new dessert ) and rice krispie treats. I also may make some sort of cookie. Can't wait!

Is pumpkin hard to find in Australia?

Pumpkin itself? No, not at all! I was actually surprised to read a thread here last year that seemed to say that pumpkin is really only available in the US in fall, as we have multiple varieties available year round. Is that actually the case?

I have never seen pumpkin pie or canned pumpkin here however.

I think 4 desserts for 4 people is probably overkill, but I just might make both the cheesecake and the stout cake. After all, DD will take some of it home with them, right??

I don't think that's overkill! But then, I'm making pumpkin pie, cherry pie, chocolate cream pie and gingercremes for the 4 of us, so I might not be the best judge. :)

I always make a pumpkin pie. DS has requested a Boston Cream Pie so I will also make that.

Thanksgiving is at my in-laws and she handles all the main cooking, and I get to do the fun stuff- the desserts! I am making:

1 homemade pumpkin pie
1 strawberry pretzel salad
1 chocolate cheesecake lasagna

I already made 2 dozen chocolate peanut butter whoopee pies and 2 pounds of peppermint opera fudge that I will be taking up also.

I'm making buttermilk pie, lemon icebox pie, and apple crisp. My mom is making pumpkin pie.

On occasional Thanksgivings-past, we have ended up with the equivalent of 1 whole pie per adult, which was ridiculous and total overkill. I made the Thanksgiving meal and others were in charge of the desserts and we ended up with a ridiculous amount of pie.

A relative will often make pumpkin pie, but their pies are enormous and they don't just make 1, they make 2 pumpkin pies...and there are usually only 2 people at the Thanksgiving dinner table who actually eat pumpkin pie, so I end up throwing most of it out a couple of days later. It's a huge waste.

This year it's different. I grew up in CA on Marie Callendar's pies and I love their dutch apple pie, so I bought one of those. And I got a small 8" pumpkin pie from the grocery store. And vanilla ice cream. That's it.

Sometimes we have a guest with us for Thanksgiving who has celiac disease, so one year I bought a gluten free pie from a local gluten-free bakery. The pie cost me $45! But it tasted really good. Seriously, you couldn't tell it was gluten free. I've attempted to make gluten-free desserts myself, but I always fail miserably.

They sell it year round, it's just not featured.

Pumpkin Cheesecake I'm making myself, and store bought cream filled puffs (frozen)...that's for those few people who don't like pumpkin cheesecake! LOL.

Found this at Acme tonight. That's cubed pound cake "stuffing" spilling out of the turkey's butt.

I'm bringing a Costco pumpkin pie to one of our Thanksgiving gatherings (we go to two.)

I find their other pies that I've tried (Apple and key lime) to be too sweet, but their pumpkin pie is perfection! Just as good as the one I make assuming I'm doing a store bought crust and not homemade crust.

Don't knock a Costco pumpkin pie until you've tried it!

Store bought pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream and a homemade chocolate cream pie.

I really have no idea. I can't remember the last time I had enough appetite to tackle dessert on Thanksgiving.

Never too many desserts!!
Pumpkin pies
Cherry pies
pecan pies
Cranberry pecan muffins
Variety cheesecake

I just made two Pumpkin Pies, others are bringing an Apple, Blueberry and Key Lime Pie!
