What decade of music do you consider the "oldies"?

50s and 60s. I was floored when a radio station referred to oldies music the other day and they were referring to a song from the 80s. Although, when I was a kid, a song from the 40s was old. Given that the 80s were 40 years ago, I can understand why the new generation would consider that old. But as someone in her 40s, the 80s wasn't that long ago.

I’m an 80’s kid so oldies to me are the 50s & 60s. I love some big band of the 30’s and 40’s too but that’s not the same as the oldies which to me is more the days of Doo-wop, Motown, the original boy band groups like the Righteous brothers and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. 70’s is it’s own genre, just like the 80’s and 90’s they had completely different sounds. The decades of 2000’s have kind of blended all together for just meh music with a few stand out acts.

All our oldies radio stations are gone but they used to advertise as playing 50's, and 60's
I still consider 70's to be Adult Contemporary.
Sadly, the reality is, a lot of what I listen to......70's on 7 on SirrusXm, is the music you hear in elevators!

Anything prior to 1970. Just now I decided to test my theory and looked up a few top 40 lists by year. Sure enough, 1969 seemed like oldies to me and 1970 I remember when all the songs were current. I turned 9 in 1970,and apparently that's the age I became really aware of current hit music.
