I am trying to figure out the dates we will be in DL for next Oct 2009 (for my B-day). DH and I want to take the kids to MTOTP as well.

If you had to pick, would you go Oct 5-9 (Mon-Fri) or Oct 6-10 (Tues-Sat). I am concerned about nighttime entertainment, mainly. We want to go to MTOTP which should be on Friday night, but that means we would probably miss F! and fireworks since they don't do them during the week that time of year, right?

I keep thinking Tues-Sat just so we don't miss anything, but I know that Sat daytime will probably be busy. :confused3

What do you guys think???

You're lucky, Utah Education Association convention is the 1-2, so Utah fall break will probably be the week before. You might be during AZ school breaks, which could be problematic.

Are you staying onsite? I'm wondering if you'll have access to all the Magic mornings, or just one with your parkhopper if you're staying offsite.

It's going to be busy regardless. Especially on the weekend. There were record crowds this year during that week. We were there the following week (columbus day, Sun-thurs) and it was much calmer, but i think we just lucked out in between the fall breaks of AZ and Utah. Weekends are just that much more crazy.

You know, though, I guess I would be concerned about missing entertainment, too. Fireworks are more apt to be canceled because of the Santa Ana winds at that time of year, so the more opportunities you have to catch those, the better. So maybe Tues-Sat would be better for you. That will give you two opportunities for F! and fireworks. Since you'll be there for 5 days, you should have enough time to see everything a little bit at a time, and take breaks back at the hotel in the afternoons, away from the crowds.

Just some random musings, there-- we really enjoyed our trip this past Oct!

I would definitely pick Monday - Friday. Avoid Columbus Day Weekend. Also, Arizona fall breaks, at least for my district, will be a week later next school year, starting October 12th.

I think I might go with Tues-Sat. That way you've got a couple of days to try to hit extras like F! and the ToTP. :)

I tried to plan it so that we would miss UEA, as well as Gay Days and Columbus Day weekend.

No we are most likely not staying on site. We will be at HOJO's if I can get the ent. rate. We've been quite a few times, so we know how to plan around the crowds, but unfortunately, we were planning on buying AP's before we got there so we would miss MM/EE. But it is not a deal breaker for me. I don't like getting up that early on vacation anyways. I have to do it everyday at home for work. :surfweb:

We just want to see F! and fireworks. Those are our favorites!

That is good to know about the Arizona breaks. So we may luck out and hit a nice calm spot in the month between all the craziness!

Instead of prebuying the AP's get parkhoppers and then upgrade after you use the MM. :)

We were going to buy them buy the end of the year to get the sale price through the DL website.

Even if we didn't though, we really don't care that much about MM. (gasp, I know. :rotfl: ). My kids sleep late, so I would rather them get their rest and be happy, than me drag them out of bed too early.

We don't either, in fact I think we've done MM once in the past 2 1/2 years. LOL And we were exhausted all day....LOL
