What day of the week do you typically check in to DVC?

I haven't seen this for a while, so I thought it's time for a new poll.

You read a lot about people checking in Sun-Thurs to save on points. And people who come in Friday night right after work.

So what day of the week do you usually check in to your DVC resort?

If I do a 5 night reservation, I do Sunday to Thursday nights. If I do a 6 night, I'll do Saturday to Thursday nights, leaving Friday gives me a couple of days off before I have to go to work.

In the short term, we plan to check in on January 1st because of the lower point requirements and the fact our boys are still in school. After both are no longer in school, I'm sure we will probably arrive on Sundays.

We used to be mid week travelers - Weds to Weds. - because we could get a good airfare midweek and we typically stay for a whole week anyway. Now that my kids are a little older, it's easier on their school schedule if we go a regular calendar week. So now, we usually do Sat-Sat so we have Sunday after to recuperate and get ready for school again.

I can't say that our travel habits will change when the kids get older and out of the house. We have enough points to come in when we want so I don't foresee us staying Sun-Thurs to conserve points on any sort of regular basis.

We usually leave home on Friday and arrive on Sat. We don't move out on weekends and we stay in our resort in the same villa.

We have always arrived on a Tues. and left on a Sunday. This poll favors Sundays, which explains the long check in lines we saw at OKW, as we were lounging around before we left for the airport.

We try to arrive mid-week (Tu.,Wed., or Th) partly because we usually get better airfares, and partly because our trips are at least 8-10 days. Checking in is always a breeze because we also book the first morning flight, so we're at WDW in the morning, sometimes even for breakfast.
Our most leisurely and relaxing vacations are at WDW.

We've often stayed at DVC for Saturday night. When we go with our large family group, it will be a Sunday night start and we have noticed those check ins are the longest, except when we can get to the hotel in the early morning. I didn't vote, we have an equal number of Saturday/Sunday night check ins. With Friday nights right after that.

We like to check in on Thursdays - airfares tend to be cheaper.

We usually do Sat or Sun. Sat works best for DH taking time off etc and I don't mind one night of extra points.

We often do arrivfe either Saturday or Sunday, but because we usually stay a minimum of 10 nights, arriving onm Sunday allows us to do this with only one full weekend of point costs.

We typically arrive late Saturday night and stay off-site for that night. Then Sunday check-in along with the rest of the masses!

I generally drive.

now when southwest is having one of the $39 one way fares. I do fly. but that is just because it is cheaper to fly than drive. they generally have this on Sun or sat - leave on thur or fri.

so far $39 is as cheap as it gets for this area- b'ham, al.

We typically arrive on Sunday after leaving home on Saturday at 4am. We arrive and check in on Sunday, do Sun-Thurs in a 1BR switch to a studio for the weekend then back to a 1BR for the next week. Someday I will have enough points to stay straight through!

I haven't answered the poll because we will take our first trip home in May. However,after planning that trip and next Thanksgiving, and even for 2008, it looks like we will check-in on Saturday in May and Friday in November. Not the best use of points but with DD still in junior high,cheerleading,etc., our trips have to accomodate her schedule. When she's older and DH and I travel more alone,we'll have more flexibility.

Usually check in on a Thursday and checkout the next Wednesday. Much easier to find good airfare on mid week days.

We usually arrive on Sunday and go home on Saturday. Haven't experienced much wait at check-in.

Saturday or Sunday, regardless it just kills me to pay the extra points for the weekends.

I tend to hoard them for other trips & "treat myself" to either off-site (Univ. fotl) or a deluxe I've been yearning to visit for 2 days....

sorta the best of both worlds.
