What could we do about neighbors?

I like this one. It sends a clear message and is so simple.

if I were able to park somewhere else for a while - and put lots of nails in front of your driveway;)

Actually, if you can believe it, the police have better things to do than come out and settle property line issues. You need to make an appointment with the prosecutor's office in your town. They will schedule an informal meeting between you and your neighbor and you can state your case there. The prosecutor can tell them to stop or face further consequences.

Sort of an update

Friday we left the garbage and recycle on the street in front of our driveway and guess what? they parked across the street. I guess they didn't want to move the garbage. Okay, guess this could work on garbage nights.

Saturday they didn't block us at all.
Sunday they blocked their own driveway but off by a foot or maybe less but we could still get out and in. So that was okay. Still not right but it's okay I guess.

The brick/cinder block thing: Hubby thinks it's a bad idea because we would have to move it when they clean the streets.

DH really don't like to to park outside because our car is white and the birds usually like to decorate our car. If you know what I mean:)

We're considering what Tuffcookie said.
Since we have pictures of them blocking our driveway already.

Again thanks for everyones help.

Sidewalk Chalk and some profanity might work. ;)

Do you have kids? I think if it were me I might have DS put his hockey net at the end of the driveway, directly in fornt of their car & invite his buddies over for a slapshot contest.:D They'd move it really quickly then:)

This won't help your situation....but when I see people parked in fire lanes at a store I conveniently leave my shopping cart against one of their bumpers. After dark some may not notice them and run right into them when leaving their "preferred parking space"

do i what i just did...spray paint their dog...:teeth:

Do you have a close friend, neighbor, or family member nearby with another car they don't use very much? Perhaps, until the next door neighbors get trained, you could park that car at the end of your driveway and be able to move it with an extra set of keys when you needed to.

I know this is a hassle for you and I hope it's resolved, whatever way, soon.

Best wishes.

Well this might be somewhat inconvenient on your part but I bet it will get the point across quickly...

Set your alarm to wake up at some obnoxious hour - like 3 am. Go over to your neighbors house and bang on the door, ring the doorbell, whatever, just be obnoxious. When they answer the door tell them they need to move their car because you need to get out. Drive your car once around the block and come back home. Do it every night until they get it through their thick skulls that parking there will get them a 3am wakeup call

I think I like Obi-Wan's idea best so far.

me too thats hilarious!!! except that there are some crazy people out there...

If you have good insurance you could just back out in a hurry on a dark night and not see their car. ;) Back out really fast too! I bet they would never park at the end of a driveway again. hehe ;)

Believe it or not this is an issue for the Police Dept. It is against the law to park, blocking anyone's driveway. My husband is in law inforcement and says....call the PD. That is what they are there for. This is a safety issue for you and your family. You should not have to put up with your neighbors lazyness.
We have to shuffle cars in our driveway and believe me it won't harm your neighbors to do it too.
