WHAT could POSSIBLY....

Can you get some contact-type paper that sticks onto a smooth surface without adhesive*? That way you can still drive it without compromising the insurance-claims and upcoming paint-work.

* - Or maybe a big Disney magnet...

I was thinking a large sheet magnet such as they sell at craft stores. Not attractive, but not offensive either.

Sorry this happened!

Kim, sorry this happened to you. Vandalism has always been something my pea-sized brain can't fathom.

That's terrible, Kimmar. That actually did happen to my DH once, nasty words and all. He left his truck at work to take me to the doctor (I was preggers with DD10). We went to pick it up the next day and found it keyed. Being hormonal, it kinda shook my faith in people. DH works in collision repair, so the damage was fixed quickly. But I was still shocked. Anyways, I hope you able to have it fixed quickly.

So sorry kimmar. That really sucks.

My guess: Disgruntled student (current or former) or young punk who lives in your neighborhood and was feeling rambunctious.

It's the type of thing usually done by someone in that age group (middle school to high school). Or an ex, looking for revenge. Since we can rule out ex pretty quickly (unless you left a long lasting impression on a former boyfriend from 30 or so years ago), my suggestion would be to keep an eye out around your house for the next couple days. If they're going to brag about it..they might want to show off their handywork. If you see any cars driving slowly by, being obvious lookey loo's...maybe grab the plate number?

Sorry that this happened to you.

The music teacher at DS' former grade school ended up resigning after the 3rd time that someone keyed his car while it was parked on the street during an evening school event. However, in the final case, the police were able to determine that it was a student almost instantly, because ...

The words carved into the bumper of the car were "Mr. G****** is an a******!"

Catholic school kids gone bad -- even when they insult you they automatically call you Mr.

As far as driving it until it is fixed, can't you put a piece of contact paper over the word? Then at least you can still drive it.

...I got an estimate this morning - they were kind enough to spray paint it black to [sorta] match my car...

...make someone do what they do?? Seriously, what could motivate someone to do what they did to my vehicle?? Sorry, I feel a VENT coming on, but I just had to share....

Now, I know that I am not the BEST teacher in the world, nor the best parent, wife, neighbor, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, etc. but I consider myself a pretty good person...I don't like to make trouble, and always try to do the 'right thing', and I consider myself a God-fearing spiritual individual (this bit of information is NOT to start any debates about religion, so, please don't 'go there' in your responses  ), so again, I ask: Why ME??:confused3 . I woke up this morning to my DH yelling to me from downstairs, around 7:20AM this morning. I don't like to compete with him for the bathroom (AND, I like to sleep a little bit longer on Sundays) first thing in the morning, so he usually goes to 7:30 mass, while I go to the 9AM one. Anyhoo, he's yelling at me, "Someone 'keyed' your car!! They keyed your car!"I jumped out of bed and ran to the top of the stairs. "Is it bad?", I asked and he answered, " Yeah, REAL bad!". Apparently, they took a key (or some other sharp object) and scraped alongside the ENTIRE length of my [leased] car, driver's side. But that's not the WORSE part! They then proceeded to scrape the obnoxiously FOUL word '****' across my door! I called the local police, to file a report. I can't believe that the first question out of his mouth was, " Did you recently break-up with an ex-boyfriend?" Uhhhh, I'm 52 and have been happily married for over 26 years...DUH! Soooo, now I have to get an estimate and have the car repainted, since I obviously cannot drive around with the car like that.....honestly, WTH???? :confused3

Yikes, Kim, how disturbing. :furious:

Glad you were able to get some "touch-up" on it, for now. Do you and DH have a garage? I would be pulling the cars in at night from now on. Just way too many nasty people out there today......

...what's really unsettling is that, if it IS who I think it is, that person is a 42-y-o GROWN WOMAN with 2 kids of her own....nice role model.....

....*sigh*...when it rains, it POURS - I just found out that my deductible is $750.....:scared1: THAT wasn't something I was prepared to shell out....

Wow $750 -- that really stinks. Just remember -- what comes around, goes around. I really believe in karma, and if it was her, she'll get payback, sometime, somewhere. Negative attracts negative.

...I believe in that saying too....its what keeps me going....:confused3 ....that, and God telling me that there was a PURPOSE for all this....

I'll never understnad why people do what they do....when i got my first car way back in 1977 I had just come from the insurance office with it...parked in the driveway , ran in the house to change clothes for work, came out to leavce and someone had taken what appeared to be a screw driver all the way down the driver side...I had that car for 2 days when that happened:sad1:

Are you kidding me.....?

Ohhhh, crap on the deductible, Kim. :headache:

Here is another hug, sweetie!!

If your instinct is telling you that it might be a person you know, you should play it all close to the vest. Don't give that person any details, play everything off lightly. Do not let any of your travails - high deductible, making the insurance adjuster appointment, etc. - get back to this person. "Oh, I needed to get the car painted and detailed anyway", "Oh, my deductible wasn't much", "Oh, the insurance company was a pleasure to deal with", "Oh, this will make my car worth so much more when I go to sell it", "Oh, I *love* the new paint job"...light and airy.

Acting like it's no big deal will not give the perpetrator the satisfaction of causing your grief :teeth:. And the bonus could be that she might just be stupid enough to do something else...
and that's when the footage from your secretly-installed security cameras will nail her sorry behind to the wall :woohoo:.
