If your instinct is telling you that it might be a person you know, you should play it all close to the vest. Don't give that person any details, play everything off lightly. Do not let any of your travails - high deductible, making the insurance adjuster appointment, etc. - get back to this person. "Oh, I needed to get the car painted and detailed anyway", "Oh, my deductible wasn't much", "Oh, the insurance company was a pleasure to deal with", "Oh, this will make my car worth so much more when I go to sell it", "Oh, I *love* the new paint job"...light and airy.

Acting like it's no big deal will not give the perpetrator the satisfaction of causing your grief . And the bonus could be that she might just be stupid enough to do something else...
and that's when the footage from your secretly-installed security cameras will nail her sorry behind to the wall .

Why do you suspect this woman?? You should let the Police know. Even if its not something you can prove they may know more about your suspect than you do. I doubt this is the first time she has done something like this or she might already be on their radar for something else. Good Luck.

....without proof I can't outright accuse her...howver, that being said, she has done other things to other neighbors throughout the years - she's very nasty and there's NOTHING that I wouldn't put past her to do....I don't think that SHE personally did it, but I have a feeling that she may have put someone else up to it....

This sucks...I'm so sorry for what happened to your car!

A number of years ago, my father's office was located in an..."interesting" part of town. One night someone apparently decided to go on a tire-slashing spree, and we all know tires aren't cheap! Luckily, his office has moved 2 more times since then to a much better location.

I had an incident a few years ago in my school parking lot. Someone wrote ***** across the side of my silver Jeep in red sharpie marker on the passenger side. I drove home and never realized it was there. The next morning (Saturday) I was going out with someone and I picked them up. That is when they asked me if I knew I had writing on the side of my car.
I filed a police report, but they told me that the chances of finding out who did it were very slim.
