every night for the past few weeks we've heard "chirping" coming from the woods.

we've lived here for years, I've never heard anything like this before.

Spring peepers?

Whip-or-wills?

Turkeys?

Baby coyotes?? ;)

Those evil little dinosaur thingies from Jurassic Park? ;):scared1:

Those are the spring peepers. Every year at this time we hear them as we go down the road near the woods. Tonight I hear them out back in our woods. It is the comforting sound of spring.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: I think you're right.

I really did think it was my first guess.....(peepers)....
just joking on the rest :teeth:

though those little dinosaur things from Jurrasic Park would make the neighborhood...um...more ...um..."interesting", don't you think?

It's a liberal conspiracy.....oops...sorry, wrong board;)

I love falling asleep listening to the peepers. I find it so soothing. :D

We don't have spring peepers in my neighborhood, but the tree frogs in the summer are so relxing.

Smoke detectors that need the battery replaced????

We heard a chirping coming from DD's bedroom the other day. Turns out it was one of her guinea pigs! We'd never heard her chirp before. We did some research; the prevailing theories are that they chirp because they're frightened or because they're in heat. She looked pretty relaxed, so we're guessing she was calling out to any boy guinea pigs in the region.

Poor piggie is going to be deprived. She's too old to breed even if we did want to.

Could be peepers, their called peepers because after sunset these little frogs are looking for a mate. They peep to let the others peepers know where they are. It's Mother Nature's mating season.

I feel if it's an evening chirp it's probably a tree frog. These little frogs make little nest in trees and shrubbery. They chirp in the evenings for the same reason.

If you've ever heard a tree frog you can definitely tell the difference. A tree frog can drive you crazy, especially if it's nest is in a shrub outside your bedroom window
