I've become bored with the cookbooks I have. Anyone care to make any reccomendations?

~Amanda

I like the Allrecipes.com "Best of" that I got from a friend recently. I also really like Paula Dean's first one. I'm a sucker for Southern cooking and her recipes are fantastic.

The best, however, are the ones local groups put out to raise money. Like Women's Clubs or neighborhood organizations. You get real recipes that regular, everday families use that you are likely familiar with. I have two of those and would love more!

I have a Mayo Clinic Healthy Recipes cookbook that I bought at Williams-Sonoma. I also like using allrecipes.com, so I have the reviews.

I've been dying to get a Paula Dean one!!

Now here in Charleston, we have a great one called Charleston Receipts. There's a newer one called Charleston Receipts Repeats (different recipes). Another great local one here is Gracious Goodness Charleston.

The first one is more historical recipes from the south. The other two are chock full of REAL recipes you can actually use. They are fabulous!!

For grilling season I love "BBQ P.D.Q.". It has a section on rubs and marinades, one on sauces to serve with meat, salsas... It tells you what type of meat the seasoning goes well with. You can make grilled porkchops taste about 100 different ways.

My favorite are Gooseberry Patch cookbooks. They cover everything from Holidays to Quick Recipes. They are all very easy recipes with easy to find ingredients. A definite "country" cooking flair to it. Lots of cute sayings, tips, etc. are also included. I just ordered three new ones this weekend.

I also LOVE Gooseberry Patch books - I have over 20 of them and enjoy trying new recipies. I have to say my favorites are the Christmas themed ones.

The current favorite around our house (DH does most of the cooking, but we plan menus together) is Cooking Light Annual Recipes 2005, which we picked up at Costco. Lots of great and TASTY recipes (not your typical "diet" food), including entire meals, cuisines from around the world, and complete nutritional info (if you're into that kinda thing...) Plus, you get access to the recipe database on the Cooking Light website.

All the women I work with love the "Dinner Doctor" book. You take pre-packaged items and add a little bit of your own stuff to them, and voila! "Homecooked" meals. I haven't read it yet.

I want to look at one of them and see what's up. I don't want my southern girl card revoked for serving instant mashed potatoes, though. :rotfl:

Hi Amanda,
My current favorite is Rachael Rae's 30 minute meals, very usable recipes. But I love going to allrecipes.com and finding the 'best of' recipes online. I didn't know they had a printed cookbook as vettechick99 mentioned, that sounds interesting.

I like the Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook. I grew up with my mom cooking from the BH&G Cookbook. My MIL just bought me the 75th Aniversary Edition, which has some similar recipes, but also different ones. Lots of basic recipes.

I also like the Cake Mix Doctor. I've made a few delicious cakes pretty quickly lately. Unfortunately, my thighs are proof of how delish the cakes are!

My standard, of course, if "Joy of Cooking". I also like Rachel Rae.

lately I've been cruising foodnetwork.com for recipes. I like Giada DeLaurentis -- her show is "Everyday Italian". her recipes are alot easier than the Barefoot Contessa's and usually very good.

I use all of my Cooking with Disney books regularly. I also use "The Brand Name Cookbook" quite a bit. It is a collection of the best of certain brands special recipes... Like the Philadelphia Cream Cheese company's recipes for appetizers, cheesecake, etc. It's most often recipes that appeared on a label at one time or another.

I love my Fanny Farmer cookbook. Good ol' down home cooking!

I love Gooseberry Patch. They are my absolute favorite! They have so many to choose from, like holidays, and seasons. I enjoy reading them like a book. They have cute little stories, and the absolute best recipes. :sunny:

I don't know if you would consider it a cookbook, but I like the Taste of Home and Quick Cooking magazines. :teeth:

This is my choice... but I am a sucker and buy the end of the year cookbooks and toss all of the magazines...... :confused3  :teeth:

That's what I should be doing!! Oh, I've got hundreds of those magazines laying around!!! :rotfl:
