What computer program is best?

I'm planning a trip to WDW in May and am hoping to make shirts for my family. I've asked DH for editing software for Christmas so I can do my own name fills and other simple designs (hopefully). What program is easiest to learn and best for those purposes?

Best? That depends on the level of sophistication (and expense) you want. Many of us are thrilled with Photoshop Elements (low cost) and some use Photoshop which has more features but is tons more expensive.
