This is a long story but has a great ending and it really made my day.

While at WDW this week the wife and I found a very nice digital camera in our rental car without any I.D. on it.

After my bad experience with Budget rental car (don’t use them if you can avoid it) I was not going to turn it in to them because I figured someone there would just bring it home without looking for the owner. We decided to bring it to the Orlando P.D. instead.

Before heading to the PD, We dug around the car a little more and found a scrap piece of paper with an abbreviation of letters and a phone number. We figured what the hey, dialed the number, got voicemail and left a message stating that we found a camera and if this was the owner or if they knew someone who had been in Disney to please call.

The next day I received a phone call from the owner (the phone number that we had called was a buddy of his and had relayed the message him) who was very happy that we had found it. He described the camera and the rental car that we had which verified ownership. He was more worried about the memory card with the pictures of his family on them then he was the camera.

I got his address and told him I would ship it to him. He stated that compensation (reward) to me was in order. I told him thank you but unnecessary. I just would hope someone would return the favor to me if the situation was in reverse.

He laughed for a moment and asked if I had a minute to listen to his story.

A week or so prior to him coming to WDW, he was on a train heading to work. He found a wallet under a seat with several hundred dollars, credit cards, etc. in it. He pulled the ID and called the owner (who was obviously happy to get the call) and told him that he was being a Good Samaritan and wanted to make sure the money made it back to its owner. :goodvibes

Maybe it’s corny, but I do believe that no good deed goes unrewarded. Maybe not immediately, but it does happen.

There was another recent post that asked if DISer's believed in Karma. Yes I do, and I think your Karma just skyrocked. You made some family very happy and the happiness will come back to you :wizard:. Thanks for going out of your way to return the camera and the precious pictures on the memory card. :cheer2:

Thanks for sharing the story. It is good to know that good deeds are still done.

What a great story! This is the type of thing that could happen to any of us someday and it's nice to know that there are still some honest people out there that do the right thing! :cool1:

While staying at the lodge last year I found a wallet on the floor of the gift shop. I turned it in and before I left the store an elderly gentleman was asking if a wallet had been found.
On our next stay we were in the food court at PO Riverside and I had our camcorder hung on the back of my chair. I forgot it and got on a bus, remembering in time to get off. Someone had turned it in and we got it back. Even better, I left my purse at taco bell xmas eve one year with $700 cash in it, and it was turned in, cash all there. ( Maybe I'd better be more carefu before my luck runs out!)

Not corny at all and I agree with you! :goodvibes I :cheer2: you for being such a great human being! :flower: :goodvibes

When we rode Maelstrom in December 2004 I found an obviously very expensive camera. Turned it into the CM's as soon as we got off the boat. I figure mother nature payed me back for that since we had the most awesome weather that week! Yep...Karma! I believe! :teeth:

Wonderful,,, Wonderful Story! For a minute there I thought that you might be talking about my fathers camers. He to lost his last week in Universal in a rental car, I am hoping that they find it. Stories like this always bring a smile to my face.

Thanks so much for posting this. It reminds us that there are still some honest and kind people left in the world. :)

:cheer2: Ok, after the "Shock" thread, this is a great thread to restore your faith in people. Way to go!

It is so wonderful to hear stories like this. It is a good feeling knowing that there are still some caring people out there.

Yes, but the question is, drakethib, what are you about to lose?

Well I did lose that enevelope saying that I already may be a winner?!?!?!?

I wish my lost camera had been turned in by someone as nice as you. I lost mine at a rennaissance festival. I too was more worried about the priceless pictures enclosed. I didn't check with my Local Police Dept, that's something perhaps I should do.

What a nice story.....

I just hope that something nice happens to you as well!! :flower:

Thanks for sharing!

What luck that they had a phone number in the car? Your not kidding - what comes around goes around. :goodvibes

What a wonderful thing to do. The owners concern is the same as mine. I could care less about the camera itself - but the pictures on it to me are priceless.

Kudos to you!!
